And, coming from a 6, I couldn't be more excited to have the upgraded cameras and OIS on the 7.
Didn't have the 6 so I can't comment on that but these camera's aren't 'bad' I just don't see any major differences (and I believe my 5s camera was faster on focusing). I love these phones but Apple could be doing better on the camera.

Your grasping for straws trying to defend the unnecessary removal of the headphone jack.

After seeing all the tear downs and outstanding results of waterproofing tests can we really take this kind of stance? I get that it may be inconvenient and i am sure a lot of Floppy disk collectors felt the same way but this just seems ignorant to the natural trend of tech.

The OP listed it as a reason he was returning the 7 ... even after all the publicity it received and it was known commission prior to purchase ... lame, lame, lame.
He doesn't mention it as a reason to return it... just pointed out the removal and the lack of improvement.

That said, I don't care about the headphone port. Give me a better screen and give me a better camera (as advertised).

After just 18 hours and 2 different iPhone 7's I have just returned the 7 and gone back to the 6S.

As of right now, the 7 is not a superior phone to the 6S in my opinion, for the following reasons:

-Yellow screens. This is a problem every year when they change the display. The good screens will come back in a few months. I think this has something to do with the manufacturing process of IPS displays. A residue is deposited for the first few million. In a month or so, the clear blue screens will return. This isn't glue, intentional, more correct, or any other BS reason we hear every year. Its a defect of the manufacturing process. 2 iPhone 7's I got both had vastly inferior screens to my 6S, even after color profile/tint correction. Contrast, clarity, and brightness all worse than the 6S.

-No noticeable speed increases. I put the phones next to each other and tried my hardest to make the 7 run faster. It didn't. In some cases web pages loaded faster on the 6S. Plus the intentional delay after clicking the home button that was introduced in the 7 makes it feel slower and laggier.

No thanks, Apple

My 7 has a nice white, even screen that is only very slightly warmer than my 6S. I can't notice an appreciable difference in brightness at the same settings.

As for speed there was very little difference in loading websites but in favor of the 7. The real difference was when I downloaded the latest software update. I started the 6S first and the 7 was finished quite a bit sooner. Unfortunately I didn't time it - just noticed that the 7 was finished and the 6S continued to download for a significant time after that. I was lucky this year. I don't always get great screens on Apple devices and I'm very picky.

I love the passive aggressive responses here. You can't even write an honest review/opinion about a product without getting razzed here, it seems.

So far I've concluded the external speakers are indeed improved. Still not incredible, by any means, but a good deal louder and the sound is nicer. The camera thus far has failed to impress. Maybe I'm not putting it in the right condition but in not seeing a strict improvement in really any situation compared to its predecessor.

The screen seems fine. I've always had Launch day devices and I'm either always lucky or I just can't see this yellowing some folks see.

I never said I didnt know about the Jack. What I was saying is there are a lot of shortcomings, and the removal of the jack adds insult to injury. There were not enough compensating factors in the new phone to overcome the removal of the jack. Its fine to take a feature away if you are giving more in return. If not, not fine. And I couldnt have known the screen would be worse, the home button wouldnt feel great, or the speed wasn't noticible until I had it in hand.

Honestly without having the tools to have taken the measurements of all these phones that you are certain are yellow, you can't back up the statements you are making. My bet is that you just prefer bluer screens. It's not surprising - for years screens were a bit on the yellow side. But like everything else, that leads to a spec war where people end up believing that more more more is better. If Apple changed their target calibration, even slightly warmer, it's going to show up, especially if you had one on the cooler side of the spectrum before. But it's outrageous to say that it's better that way.

Further, every review site gets their samples extremely early so that completely blows your theory out of the water. What review site is doing their review based on a phone bought 2-3 months after release? Show me some examples of devices that are significantly warmer than the targeted calibration point, with real data. (Not pictures, real measurements taken from real screen calibration tools by people who know how to use them). If it's been, as you say, exactly the same for eight years, it should be trivial to produce that evidence on the most scrutinized electronic device the world has ever seen.

Hey guys/gals, I've returned my phone and here's why I need you to do the same.

Gloves made to work with the screens now, work with the home button. Most people who use their phones in winter, have these gloves, and they are almost standard these days. This is non issue for most, really.
After reading these notices I decided to try my running gloves. While they do work, it seemed finnicky. I'm not sure it's s deal breaker. But it is a little odd. Year ago I had a Nokia lumia that worked with any glove. It's a strange choice for Apple to have done this with the button, but in hoping this is ultimately a precursor to removing the button itself entirely. I'm all for it.

If I got one of these screens I'd probably have kept it and dealt with the other shortcomings.

Youre projecting your insecurity about your phone purchase onto this thread. I never said anyone should return their phone. But many people have thanked me and messaged me privately that my thread helped in their decision to keep the 6s. So looks like the thread has been helpful. I cant say the same about your post.

And many people have disagreed with you. Does the private messages and and people who agree with you hold more weight over the people who disagree with you/support you?

The way I've summed this up is that I've lost more than I've gained. I was saying this before the phone was official and I am saying it now. I don't see what I've gained being worth it. Wife is happy she has a new shiny toy though so that's more than good enough for me lol. So I guess, in a way, I've gained more than I knew. Haha

My theory has been that they hand pick the best panels for review and display units. It's only the bulk models that they end up dipping into B grade panels to meet demand.

Like I said yesterday and btw I agree with OP

Had I not gotten this as a free upgrade from T-Mobile I wouldn't have done it

Basically same exact ducking phone as the 6S minus that it's black

I see, feel, and notice nothing different

I'm going from a iPhone 6S and SE to a 7 Plus. So for me I will see a very big difference.

But I understand OP. To be honest if the Note 7 was not under a **** storm, that would be a better phone in all areas but software. Even before the recall hit I passed on that phone because frankly the iPhone's are much faster in actual use. A normal user would not see it but a power user like myself notices.

I just know one thing. Next year's iPhone better be completely different.

Anyone who did some research would know this wasn't going to be a huge jump from the 6s.
