There is no one reporting their iPhone 7 series has a 25% brighter display than the previous 6s. It may be about the same for some but no more. Most are reporting a more yellowish display, there are enough pics on threads already. If it should be more yellowish, so be it but it does not mean everyone likes it.

There haven't been past reports of iPhones whereby folks were taking them back trying to get a better display?

There are too many threads to count of people swapping phones. I know a guy who went through 10 launch day 4S phones before settling on a green tinted one. Then a month later he ordered a new one and it came with the perfect display. Happens every time they change the display, which is most years (excluding 6S, which magically has mostly clear screens..hmm interesting).

Thanks for sharing, OP. I'm faced with the dilemma of going back to my old 6s because of the horrible app exit animation stutter. Everything else worked the same as my 6s, even the camera quality doesn't seem to be significantly improved. When family members asked me to show them how 7 is different or more superior to the 6s it was frankly embarrassing

Thanks OP, I think you've even convinced me to just stick with my 6+
Shame they couldn't make something you'd have been happier upgrading to.

*ignore the shiny*

Wow people are so mean on this board god forbid someone does not like their beloved iphones...

OP thanks for sharing your input, I however welcome reading cons and pros.

Yeah pros and cons are fine...but the 6s is faster? This isn't a review it's the diatribe of a mad man.

One would think a company as experienced and wealthy as Apple could offer better screens on a phone they charge such a high premium price for.

Dingy Yellow displays aren't the mark of a high quality smartphone. Nor should users have to spend time guessing how to fix it.

Samsung doesn't have a problem, why can't Apple get it right?

Yes I understand calibration. Im saying there are certain screens that are physically inferior to others. These screens almost have a layer of yellow on them. They will never be as bright, clear, or with the best contrast as the other screens, regardless of calibration. These screens take up more battery, look worse, and are just inferior in all ways. I think this happens because of the bulk of the phones that need to be built for launch. They either runout of good screens, or cant make them fast enough and resort to inferior panels.

Regardless of the calibration, what I really want is the clarity, crispness, and contrast of the "good" screens. I tried to change the 7's calibration using the ios color profiles tool, but it looked artificial and reduced brightness.

Doesnt really matter if you agree, its a fact that higher # = more blue.

Yellow screens would register as closer or below 6500K. They are incorrect screens.

If you like it, rock it. I havent seen a single person, when presented with the yellow screen vs a clear one, say they like the yellow better in real life.

Correct - my reference from Lightroom is relative and not actual kelvin.

But my current 6+ should be the coolest iPhone according to graph and a good reference to compare to my 7+

Yeah I live in SoCal so most days I dont either. But if I visit a colder climate or go snowboarding or any other use case where hands are covered then itd be nice to have the home button still work.

SoCal high desert can get so cold where water freezes inside the vehicle.

Hope I don't see more of these postings since I already knew iPhone 7 is just a castrated iPhone 6S and was hoping to pick up an iPhone 6S Plus cheap so these postings don't help.

You're a troll. It's been stated multiple times on this thread. I have an iP7 and iP6S side by side and the colors are better. It's not oversaturated which I thought it would be like the Sammy phones. This was the biggest change for me, and I like it.

Glad you like it. Just dont ever put it next to a display iphone 7 with the real screen or you'll be pissed. Some display phones have the inferior screens, some dont. Within a month, all will have the new screens, swapped out like magic.

Zero problems here, zero problems among 10+ friends who have the 7 or 7+ already. Sounds like trolling or paid shilling. I thought Samsung cut their shill budget after losing $5 billion on exploding phones?

How'd you get 2 to try? Most of us can't get one.

Surprisingly no lines and plenty of stock at the store I went to. Guess its not as much of a hit as hoped (tho T Mobile did have record preorders...whats that mean they went from 150 phones to 220?)

Glad you have no problems. If you can place it next to a 6s on the settings screen and post a pic thatd be helpful. Could also be further proof that the good screens do in fact exist.

no headphone jack is a plus, its 2016 get with the times

where you disappointed the wasn't a rotary dial?
You know that not having a headphone jack so you can just plug headphones into the lightning connector is not innovative at all. Please explain how it's such a great move and so innovative. LOL

Obviously some of the phones are going to be crap.. that's the manufacturing process in almost anything on Earth. The problem is that regular folks don't like others crapping all over the device they just paid $1000 for, whether it's warranted or not.

It's true, inconsist quality is Apple's weak area. Unlike the past they have lost focus on providing high quality. Having learned how much the customers will tolerate, Apple is hyper focused on profit taking. The less they spend on quality, the more money they pocket.

Nice post, I want to upgrade to the 7+ from my 6+, but the home button and screen have both made me rethink buying one. I've had an iPhone that had a screen that looked like somebody had been smoking in it for 20 years. I went through several iPhone 5's because dust continued to appear in the cameras (with the Apple Store employee apologizing and clearly saying it was a defect). Sometimes Apple has crappy manufacturing, and it really isn't acceptable. It's even more annoying because I tried android when the 5s came out but just didn't like it, so I feel like I'm stuck with iOS.

This is just plain old senseless static ... the home button has to be one of the great move aheads that Apple has introduced ... I just don't get the "opposition."

This is just not knowing what you bought. I can appreciate your cons but the screen is suppose to have a warmer hue because it's the same type of display in the iPad Pro that adjust to its surrounding conditions. The home button is not suppose to be real and has many people have already pointed out there are gloves already out to help this.

If you don't like it then you should return it. Best of luck OP:)

Thanks for you post. I feel your pain. Yes it's first world, but some of us just like nice things, and want what we spend our money on to be as good as advertised.
