There is an 11g difference between stainless steel and aluminum Series 4. I would call 30% quite a difference.

Stainless Steel - 44mm
Case Weight: 47.9g

Aluminum - 44mm
Case Weight: 36.7g

According to Apple, the Series 4 Watch only uses 5g of aluminum material for the 44mm model.

I wasn’t suggesting there wasn’t a difference in weight. It’s obvious there is going to be a difference due to stainless being two thirds heavier.

I’m gonna focus on the positives:

1) Super XDR displays(Samsung oled) on ALL models. No more trash talk about apples sub 1080p LCDs

2) Qualcomm modems on ALL models. No more intel, should be better connectivity

3) 5G millimeter wave on ALL models(even if 5G is still in its infancy)

4) At least the pro models will start with 128gb base storage. No need to upgrade to 256gb if you were forced to before

5) Actually looking forward to the camera/sensor improvements. Including the improvements to night mode and deep fusion. Also dolby vision added to the already industry-leading smartphone videos will be interesting.

6) New colors

Do you think we’ll continue to see a snobbery amongst users who look down on those they feel are using an inferior device? It’s something that seemed to come along with the iPhone 6.

The fact even the mini will get Same display is a good idea from apple...the mini will be the best selling i imagine.

dunno if those who are on the non pro 6.1 will be annoyed by an extra 100 price jump If it’s accurate.

the zoom on the pro max is what shocks me. Was never expecting 5x not with no periscope.

iPhone 11 was cheaper than XR and brings more features that 11 vs 12 which is more expensive and probably main reason for upgrade will be oled...

Oh definitely that will never change. Iphone pro users looking down at regular iphone users, who then look down on touch id SE users. Now we also have ipad pro users looking down at ipad air users. It goes on and on

i’m so pissed off about this. we been waiting since september 2019.

why tease airtags in your promo pics if you aren’t even gonna release it this year 😔
Of all the things in this world to get “so pissed off” about, you picked a product that Apple has never promised to be released on a specific date and time. I guess Apple should go ahead and release AirTags, even though it (allegedly) isn’t ready for product release and use, so that you can stop being “so pissed off.” If Apple did that for you, your joy would last less than 5 minutes after unboxing, as you would then be “so pissed off” about Apple releasing a product before it’s ready, just to make sales.

Here is a thought: Stop and think about what you said and the focus of your anger, and then refocus on something more meaningful and logical to be “pissed off” about.

In practical terms, this probably means Night mode video recording.
Night mode video is a bit of a stretch. It won't come close to Night mode photos, a bigger sensor mainly allows for more light (but probably not enough to be as clear as the night mode feature for photos) and bigger bokeh. But still, 47% bigger sensor would still be quite the improvement over the current ones.

Perhaps!

Perhaps what? Does a tweet from Prosser make my reply to said poster somehow more valid, because Prosser said something along the same lines?

I don’t need confirmation of what is logical from Prosser and neither should anyone else who likes to think for him or herself.
just trying to help out here but dang! You are heated I guess 🙄🙄

Anyone has an ELI5 explanation of what shooting directly in Dolby Vision exactly means? How does it compare to shooting in HDR?

I am not heated, mad or frustrated at all. I was just pointing out that I didn’t need Prosser’s help and neither should you or anyone else on that subject. We should seek validation from ourselves first, not from Prosser or anyone else on the internet.

Prosser, and many of the other Twitter centered leakers are ego driven. That is why they get so defensive or mad when another leaker or someone else on Twitter passes on the same information without crediting the ego driven leaker, or creates needless internet drama all for the sake of clicks, thumbs up, and anything else that keeps the spotlight on the leaker. They don’t even care if what they put out is meaningless drivel, so long as they were the first to announce the alleged meaningless, cryptic drivel. And sadly, a lot of people have allowed themselves to cling to and follow the ego driven leakers, as if what they they say on Twitter and elsewhere, ads any real meaning to the lives of others with their cryptic tweets and foul mouth rants.

The iPhone 12 Mini is the best phone to get since the OG SE, for those who prefer a one-handed form factor. They won’t give the 13 mini 120 Hz so there is no reason to wait anymore to upgrade from the A9. The leap from the OG SE to 12 Mini is is going to be dramatic. Once the glass back and copper coils are removed and the weight is decreased it will feel even lighter. I know I can shave at least 10 grams off it to get it closer to the OG SE.

While I agree with your first sentence, keep in mind that the the 13 Mini is rumored to get
  • the 12 Pro Max or whatever cameras
  • also power button touch ID is more likely
Can you elaborate on your last 2 sentences?
Do you plan to modify your 12 Mini? if so where do you get the non glass back that fits?

This would actually be digital zoom, aka cropping, and definitely not optical zoom if it’s gonna take a 52mm 2x photo and crop it 2x to make 4x, or to take a 65mm equivalent/2.5x picture and crop it 2x to make 5x. That’s not different at all from the current digital zoom past 2x.

iPhone 12 Pro (6.1 inches): 52mm focal length telephoto, the entire system can provide four times optical zoom.

iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inches): 65mm focal length telephoto, the whole system can provide five times optical zoom.

Yes. Simply put, I have paid full retail for every phone I've had since 2010 since I've lived in Dubai. This ego around the "top model" is ridiculous. There are a lot of ridiculous things that happen here, but judging based on phone usage may be the worst. Guaranteed, if each citizen living in America had to pay retail upfront, it would be a very different situation.

【1】Homepod Mini
HomePod Mini, priced at $99, 3.3 inches high, S5 processor.
Pre-sale for most places are scheduled for November 6 and will be on sale on November 16.

【2】iPhone
four models

iPhone 12 Mini (5.4 inches), starting at $699, colors are black, white, red, blue, green.

iPhone 12 (6.1 inches), starting at $799, colors are black, white, red, blue, green.

iPhone 12 Pro (6.1 inches), starting at $999, colors are gold, silver, graphite, blue.

iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inches), starting at $1099, colors are gold, silver, graphite, blue.

The four models are all 5G models. Currently, only the US model has millimeter wave. The key point is that earphones and chargers are not provided.

12 Mini and 12 memory capacity to choose from: 64G/128G/256G
12 Pro and 12 Pro Max memory capacity to choose from: 128G/256G/512G

The four screens all have Super Retina XDR Display. In addition, there is a new screen glass technology, Ceramic Shield Front Cover, which is simply ceramic substrate glass, which increases the hardness and resistance to drop.

The name of wireless charging returns to Magsafe, with a power of 15W.

Four iPhones can directly shoot Dolby Vision video.

Smart Data Mode
:My understanding is that 4G/5G is allocated according to the application bandwidth. Specific big data throughput applications use 5G, which is estimated to save power.

Camera photography is the key point. I'm afraid it's not accurate enough here. Some parts are described in English:

iPhone 12 Mini (5.4 inches): dual camera, wide-angle + ultra-wide-angle, ƒ/1.6
iPhone 12 (6.1 inches): dual camera, wide-angle + ultra-wide-angle, ƒ/1.6

Deep Fusion and night scene modes have become better, Smart HDR also has upgrade, namely Smart HDR 3

iPhone 12 Pro (6.1 inches): Three cameras (wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, telephoto) + LiDAR, wide-angle with the new 7P lens, ƒ/1.6, 52mm focal length telephoto, the entire system can provide four times optical zoom.

iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inches): Three cameras (wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, telephoto) + LiDAR, wide-angle with the new 7P lens, ƒ/1.6, 65mm focal length telephoto, the whole system can provide five times optical zoom.

Key point: The biggest difference between 12 Pro Max and 12 Pro is that 12 Pro Max also has a larger sensor (47% larger sensor with 1.7μm pixels). Expansive is added before the description of the 12 Pro Max ultra-wide angle.

The pre-sale date of the iPhone 12 Mini (5.4 inches) is scheduled for November 6 and it will be released on November 13

The pre-sale date for the iPhone 12 (6.1 inches) is scheduled for October 16and will be released on October 23

The pre-sale date of the iPhone 12 Pro (6.1 inches) is scheduled for October 16 and it will be released on October 23

The pre-sale date of the iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inches) is scheduled for November 13and will be released on November 20

【3】Others
iPhone case with built-in Magsafe technology, Magsafe Charger, Magsafe Duo Charger.

what’s the iPhone mini be anywhere an as good as the pro? What’s mainly missing compared to a 2019 6.1 pro?

the zoom on the pro max is what shocks me. Was never expecting 5x not with no periscope.

If we take into account Apple's marketing language, then the 12 Pro Max will have a 3x zoom. Still better than 2x though.

As all models have glass back the only design difference physically (other than size and cameras) is whether the edge is either stainless steel or aluminum?

I'm not sure I believe those leaks. There has to be more to the story than that. I'm just going to wait till Tuesday, and then figure out what I am doing.

Not too happy about the November delay. I am aiming for an iPhone 12 Pro Max and it will be really annoying if the delivery time will slip very soon to January 2021.
