To me, the Alto case seems the same thickness as the Andar one (judging from the photos). The Apple case seems half of the width of the Apple one (photo no.2)

I cannot find this Alto case anywhere. Can anyone link me? I must be being so thick

I am not saying bait and switch, but Andar made a mistake, and they should own it. They wanted to be one of the first cases out and choose the cutout thinking Apple wouldn’t do the action button. They were wrong and should own it.

I don't know if they made a mistake, I just think they messed up in how they handled it. Peak Design just did something similar to what Caudabe's doing and people (including me) really appreciated it. That's why I buy Peak Design and Caudabe stuff. An example of two companies that care about customer more than their bottom line, in my opinion.

That was my take as well. The way they handled it was super poor. For a small company, they should be more aware.

Oh, wow... The Andar is so thick :\

Dammit.

Why can't a company have a case with some good quality leather, Action button, closed bottom and a relatively close thickness to that of the Apple leather case?! That may sound like a long list, but I feel like those are very reasonable expectations!
I agree with you Andar and Alto look the same thickness and still thicker than the Apple leather case. And they say Bullstrap is even thicker. Why can’t someone make a leather case that is as thin as Apple’s was? Weird.

The alto is definitely thinner and lighter than the andar. The in hand feel is closer to apples. The apple case had hardly any lip on the front (it was pretty much flat with my screen protector). The alto has a small lip so it is deeper than the apple case. Thickness and weight are pretty close though. They really would have the perfect leather case to me if they would take the alto logo off and get the speaker cutout right. I did send a message to their support email to ask about the speaker cutouts.

I got it off Amazon, they have a $10 off coupon but you can also get off the alto website linked above. I’m waiting on the brown to see if they are going to change the speaker cutouts.

Does the lip catch your fingers when you swipe up from the bottom or in to the center from the sides? That was the dealbreaker for the Aspen with me. If they don’t, I could live with the comically large speaker cutouts.

Idk if its the right place to ask, but can someone explain to me why the leather case from Apple is kinda smooth and all the third party cases have these "texture" to them?

really depends on which you buy, e.g. lonli edition is smooth as apples.

Thanks - good to know similar to Apple case. I really wish mfg’s would not put their logo’s or names on the case, unless it is Apple.

No I haven’t had any issues with the lip. The andar lip was taller but I didn’t really have issues with it either that I remember.

I noticed the brown one in stock so I grabbed up the last one. Still $10 off.

This is the one I'm going to get, along with the Nomad Horween. I like the Andor Aspen 'Red' as well - but sticking to the brown/tan leather for now.

Anyone esle used these before? Would love to see some user pics rather than the stock internet ones.

nope, but looking forward to seeing yours 😜
was also looking for "real" pictures, but came up empty

Bellroy has a statement on their website about releasing a second batch in November with a solution for the cutout.

This is intriguing as the case looks great and as comparatively thin as Apple’s previous leather cases.

I’ll email. Sorry for the dust showing but there is no dust under the protector. And it gets by the edges but not stuck to it all. Also see the camera still shot that shows the edges L’s. So I’m not seeing any encroachment on the screen real estate. I put these that are called Pro screen protectors on both of our phones. I also ordered the Max version which is cheaper. I’ll try to at one on my daughter’s phone when she gets it mid October.

Wrong thread? lol. I’m following the other thread also.

A word of warning, Dbramante1928 has a leather case for the 15 Pro-series called Roskilde in black or brown.

I just checked it out at a local store, the action button is a cut out so tiny that it's almost impossible to push the action button unless you have long finger nails. A lot worse than the cut out on Andars case for example and I would avoid this case even though the brand has some nice leather and usually good build quality.
