I just got my RL 16 pro max case with camera button. Had the launch case. I really like the first case judt because that sample had a lot of texture to the leather and looked more unique.
The new case is a bit smoother but that’s just a leather variance thing. The fit as far as the usb port is the same as the original case you have to fold the phone upside down at the right angle and lighting to get even a hint of the gap. It’s a non issue for the pro max.
Mine does squeak at the bottom more than my other leather cases. They all do, this one just is more and feel like it needs to mold to the bottom on the phone with use.
My original case did patina and darken over the months I had it. So even if it is an oil wax finish it’s not as much as the Andar I had used in my 15 pro max.
It also seems even less bulky than the original case, which was already less bulky than Andar.
The implementation of the cc button is as spot on as possible. I still find that button kind of useless especially swiping. I will have to compare swipe sensitivity to the apple silicon case to see it this is any less sensitive but swiping always kinda sucked on the cc button
Overall it’s the most complete quality leather case out now in my opinion

Here is mine, just arrived.
Great fit and buttons, there is a little gap at the port, but I don't mind it at all.
Also, they declared it as less than 20£, so no customs, real MVP move.

What does it matter a gap is gap, once seen never unseen.
Will probably sag over time too as that pice would be thinner.
Got reply back from Jun to my email i sent few days ago and gap is here to stay unless im reading it wrong.
I mean, that gap has nothing to do with usb c charging accesories, don’t know why they keep telling that story! I don’t like that approach to that problem. Don’t know if he actually realize which gap we are talking about. At least they are being partially sincere and advice customers that ask for that not to buy it.

I just received a very similar reply as well. I responded to try to clarify the difference between the larger USB-C port and the gap between the phone and the case that appears to be more of a fitment issue, but I'm not sure we'll hear anything different.
Anybody that has experienced "gapgate" with the new RL for 16 Pro... Have you noticed it getting smaller with use? Or been able to get it more flush with the phone? Has anyone received one for the 16 Pro that does not have any gap?
To be very clear: I Do not believe the gap is because they made the USB-c port bigger. Not at all. I also don't like this response from Jun. Ok, so that no one is accusing me drinking the RL koolaid.
Alright that is out of the way. This 100% is a fitment issue. The iPhones don't fit down in the case fully at the bottom. From what I have noticed with mine, there is a gap along the entire bottom of the case between it and the phone. Also if I hold the phone vertically the case is not level and it sticks out at the bottom. If that makes any sense. It seems to me like the microfiber lining is too thick at the bottom of the case and it pushing the phone up just slightly. This is creating all the issues. I have no idea if this will loosen up over time or not being that it is leather. That said, I think RYAN London is going to have to correct this in the next couple of months. I encourage anyone that has had the issue to please report it. The more feed back they get, the more likely they will have to go back and fix this issue.
If this is an issue you can't live with, don't order the case. Some may not be affected, but why play roulette with these cases if it's a dealbreaker for you. I for one am going to be sticking with the open bottom RL. I prefer that design anyway, but would really like CC on a case. That was my reason for trying the closed bottom RL. I think it's totally justified to be upset and email Jun, but let's be respectful. I truly don't think Jun fully understands the issue, and the more information we can give him, the better they will be. Attacking them won't help anything, or trashing them here. For me, this doesn't make RL a bad brand, just some growing pains in a phone cycle that has been rather challenging for all case manufacturers. Thanks Apple for adding a pretty much useless button.
It absolutely won’t get smaller, you could try to force it back a little bit, but that won’t do much and you will risk to break that part, that is the most fragile. If it bothers you return it or live with it haha.
On the other hand, Does anyone with 16 pro max have “gapgate” or only 16 pro ?
Thankfully we have choices. There is still plenty of leather cases out there. None with a CC, so this is the only option for CC with leather.
Maybe we see this case revised. I have emailed Jun explaining my findings, so maybe I can bring to light there is an issue as it's not the USB-c port being bigger.
Sure! We have other great choices. And I’m sure that every company is now working on release a cc button case. Meanwhile as I’ve said that cutout doesn’t bother me too much
Yes. I have the same. Wonder if they made it thicker because of the CC button. It is like the opposite of most cases that have raised corners.
I seriously do not understand these retailers/sellers/companies. Why wouldn’t they listen to their customer base.
