Yeah I didn’t notice it at first and it’s not the biggest deal. Just glad I am not the only one.
I had an issue with a small dent near the power button they had sent out I think because of an issue when shipping and they are sending me a replacement so Ill see if that new one has the same problems.
Going to email Jun and request him to provide pics of few Dark Brown cases so i can pick one which shows the most grain.
I unfortunately don’t have another camera to take pics of the phone in the case.
The “issue” is the result of two things. First the port cutout is large. This leaves only a thin strip of leather above the port cutout.
Second as someone else mentioned the phone seems to not fit all the into the car at the bottom. Mine squeaks and feels like I can push it down temporarily. This might break in over time.
I wish the fit was better and the port cutout a bit smaller, however on the pro max version I have to really try to see the gap. It’s a nonissue and not visible unless under direct light with phone upside down and at the exact right angle to reveal it.
All things considered this is the best leather case considering the overall leather quality and the excellent CC button implementation.

Yeah but if what the guy from Ryan London were true about the “bigger port”, every single case would have the gap, and some folks here have shared that their case is perfectly “gapless” while others have the gap. Sorry but that’s BS and I don’t mean Bullstrap. As a matter of fact, it’s the same as last year when Bullstrap first released their Contemporary and many had the same gap, they said it was due to their cases being handmade, and this year, still being handmade, the gap is gone… a fluke is a fluke, and taking customers for dumb is not a good look for any brand.

I’m not sure I believe they are not all the same and some people just notice it more. The pro max case seems to be less noticeable. The case mold is the same for all so I’m not convinced there is actually much variation other than normal tolerance inherent in wrapping anything in leather.
My husbands Ryan London closed bottom cc button version came today!
Honestly, his case fits perfectly! I see The ever so slightest gap, but that is so insignificant when I look at it in person that it’s really a moot point. Here’s some pictures to show how his case fits. He has a 16 promax.
I honestly don’t know if it’s worse for other people but I don’t have any fit issues from what I can see. Maybe we lucked out? It’s a beautiful case (anyone also notice the leather comes up the metal ring further on this second version versus the first version?)
All in all husband is thrilled and I really like it! (Still won’t do the metal camera ring for myself.. can’t do it 😂)

My RL black sapphire button version came today. 16 pro max. No fitment issues. If I really try, I can see a hint of light between the case and phone through the USB port. But the ”gap” is bigger in Apple silicone case which I had earlier. Was worried about the gap, but it is a non-issue, at least for me. 😎
Seems that “Gapgate” is a problem in 16 pro cases then. Looks nice actually, I can’t do metal ring neither though
Yeah, my husband’s trying to convince me to get one for me 😂 if Bullstraps closed bottom was still nowhere in sight I probably would have taken him up on it. But I still really prefer my Bullstrap and the ceo did say that for people who got version 1 they’ll make it really reasonable to obtain version 2.
Like I’ve said before my cut out is not a dealbreaker. It is very easy to use on my case and my case feels phenomenal. Unlike my silicone case that I had before this one. So I’m more than happy waiting it out. His case does look really good though! It just makes me very excited for mine when it comes.

Yes the metal ring is different wit the leather coming up higher. The buttons are also the better, flatter faced than previous which were smaller and rounded.
Yeah I noticed the buttons too. My husbands buttons I found to be a little stiff but they’re slowly getting better. ESP the volume down button it was pretty stiff out of the bag. But they’re getting better.. I think. He’s the one using the case not me 😂
I worked mine loose a bit before I put the phone in the first time...no issues
Have him take the case off and push the buttons, and it will loosen up.

I didn’t know he had an issue with buttons till we put it on. His version one didn’t have any tight buttons so I didn’t even think about it.
All in all he loves it. That’s what counts!
Received my RL with camera button yesterday to replace my RL with cutout and definitely noticed the gap immediately. The lip at the bottom of the phone is noticeably lower then the lip around the rest of the phone. However, after taking the case off and massaging the bottom of the case inward for a minute or so and putting it back on the phone, the gap is completely gone. Love the implementation of the camera button.
I have purchased both the sienna brown and saddle brown Ryan London cc button cases. They are for the pro max and like Brooke, i have to really look hard to see any gap, so it’s no problem for me at all. I also like the thinner form of these cases, theyre both lovely but i’m in the saddle brown at present.
Honestly I don’t like OB because I use 16 PM and last year OB RL was hurting my little finger 🤪
