Had home button issues on my launch AT&T unlocked phone. Got it swapped out Saturday.

Model begins with NE

Serial ends with FH1D.

32GB black. I can confirm this device has AWS 3G.

What a difference it makes. Even in a refarm area.

Looks like apple ran out of "NE" and started with ND...going forward looks like serial number last 4 digits will be the only determining factors of AWS vs No AWS

Some Geniuses know about the AWS T-mobile version, others you have to educate. When I was getting my replacement, I told the employee I needed the FH1C. He looked at me with no clue. I went to another store where the Genius was more curious and interested in the issue. He proceeded to hunt down the right serial for me. I must say it was worth doing. The previous phone "4G" was awful and spotty. I think T-Mobile "re-farmed" South Florida with more swampland!

what is the model number sold on t-mobile site/store?

Unlocked model - MD293LL/A

T-mobile unlocked model - ME486LL/A

What is the model number are t-mobile which is sold at t-mobile site/retail stores (aka the t-mobile locked ones?)

So the Tmobile unlocked model # ME is "Brand New" out of box?

Then I assume I received a "new" model 1428 with the "ME" designation as a refurb, unlocked, as stated in my original post. Lucky me?

I double checked and it actually starts with NE. My mistake. Updated my post to reflect my new findings.

In other news this phone had a dented back out of the box. Going back to get another replacement when I have time.

Seriously getting sick of these QA issues and spending my days at the Apple Store...

Just got my iPhone 5. Setup a repair last week and finally got it today. It is AWS so I finally get '4G" everywhere I go.

Model begins with: NE
Serial # ends with: FH1D

What iOS? And what did you tell them was wrong with yours?

I went to 2 apple stores and had no luck. I told them that I had low signal all the time and that I was always on edge. All they told me was that there is something wrong with the towers and they reset my network settings. I got home and I called apple and I told them I had the same issue and that I received poor customer support at the apple store. They gladly set me up with a replacement and I finally got it today.

Also... it's on 6.1.3:(

Oh that's unfortunate that's what I wanna do but I don't wanna lose biteSMS, mewseek and unlimited pandora skips:( but I guess I'll have too if I want greater speeds and coverage
