Not a fan of having it on the top though.
Beggars can't be choosers. :p

I do agree that the bottom is the optimal spot for a headphone jack. Don't have to worry about the cord flailing around, often times getting in the way of the screen.

For me it's more the fact that if I'm using my headphones, it's likely in my pocket. So with the jack on the top, my phone is upside down when I pull it out of my pocket.

Yeah that is an annoyance with the headphone jack on the top. They should be on the bottom imho.....

gonna wait a few months untill it reaches a price of about €500 and then it will be an instant buy, imo, the nicest Android device out there (with hardly any bloatware)

My Wife has the LG G6, and she's satisfied with it no complaints. I play with her phone often, and it's smooth, and nice enough. It's just a plain vanilla UI kind of boring, but with Nova and a icon pack + Pixel theme, it freshens it up.

So if the V30 is a better version of the GAME, it should be a very nice phone.
I had the G6 for a couple of days and maybe it was my device, but does the front facing camera suppose to be that bad? It felt grainy. The back camera was great, though. I kept thinking maybe there was some type of smudge on the front camera. I don't know.

Can you not put your phone in the other way round?
Not with headphones plugged in. Its not a big deal just a minor inconvenience. But with the headphone jack on the top of a phone....when you pull it out of your pocket the phone is upside down. Then you have to turn it around to interact with your phone.
If the headphone jack in on the bottom with the headphones plugged in......when you pull it out of your pocket the phone is right side up and easier to do stuff on your phone.
Its not a huge deal to be honest....just a little design feature.

It's a known issue. the G6 front shooter is bad, some say the V30 is the same way

Oh no! It almost felt like a 2013ish type front facing camera. LG should know selfies are important now a days.

it does sound like there are some settings to change but the general feel for it I got from online forums is that it isn't as good as it should be. and when I owned the phone briefly, I agreed.

But I did enjoy the back camera and wish everyone who throws a second camera sensor on the back of their phone would make it a wide angle camera

Finally put my hands on the V30, and I will say, it at least feels great in hand. Even though it's not much smaller than the Pixel 2 XL, it feels much less bulky.

Thinking about trying it out. Anybody know if it allows you to utilize the usb-c port for headphones? Yes, I know it has a jack, but as I've said before, I really don't like having my headphones plugged into the top.

Picked up a V30 today with JoD on TMO.
All i can say is wow! Nice! Very nice phone. The look and feel are great in the hand. Performance is right up there with my N8. In fact it is more ergonomic sound than my Note 8 in so many ways.
Fingerprint reader! I mean it is soooo fast and so easy to reach. No hand gymnastics just to try to unlock the V30.
The display is better on the N8 tbh but it doesn't bother me at all. The V30 is a very nice phone.
I am definitely going to keep it over the Note 8!

Good for you. The V30 was my second choice behind the Note 8. I don't regret my decision one bit but I'm glad that they're are options that suit people's needs. As someone with big hands and also uses the phone one handed, the fingerprint reader is almost prefect for me because it's in a natural position for me.

I have big hands as well and can never get used to the FPS on the S8+ or N8. It is just a bad design decision by Samsung. No other way around it. I don't anyone can justify why the FPS is where it is on the S8+ or N8. I know people have gotten used to it and like the phone and adjust to it. But it is just a bad design choice.
The FPS should be round on the front or on the middle on the back.

Agreed. It's one of the biggest gripes I have with the note 8. Also the weight. The v30 even having less features than the note 8 is still a good device. And has had me thinking multiple times of selling my note 8 for one. Laying in bed right now typing this the note is heavy and my hands are already getting tired of holding it. Lol

I think the V30 is a beast.
I've never really been interested in LG androids but the V30 seems awesome.
It might make choosing my next phone a bit more interesting.

Some of the cons for the V30

1) The display is not quite up Samsung phones. It is not as bright and the viewing angles are not as good.
2) The LG skin is not bad....but it is not quite as good as having stock Android.
3) Glad they kept the headphone jack. Just wish it was on the bottom and not the top.
4) I wish the power button was on the right side like most phones. The FPS doubles as the power button...not my first choice tbh

I'll be curious to see your continued thoughts as you get more time with it. I'm definitely considering making the jump to a bigger phone (from an S7), and think the V30 might be the best choice. The Pixel 2 XL (and S8+ and N8) just feels too big for me.

I think the biggest thing holding me back from leaving Samsung is losing Samsung Pay--not just the convenience, but the rewards. That may have me stick around and finally get the S8 or S8 Active. But again, the V30 is definitely tempting me.

Do you know if there is any reason you cannot use the USB-C output for headphones?

I just checked out the V30 in the store today. Wow! walked away impressed, for sure. The display was bright and vibrant (couldn't test low brightness performance due to it being a bright store). the software flew, was so much more "snappy" than the G6. the form factor was nice and the size was brilliant. made my Note 8 seem like a brick. I maybe be tempted by this one for sure. I can't wait to hear more of your impressions.

As someone interested in videography but can't get a hands-on until the end of the month...

If any new v30 owners could shoot and upload some footage in Log format I'd be extremely grateful. Just a few seconds hand held with maybe a slow pan would be perfect.

I'm wanting to see what it looks like, how it comes up graded in Final Cut, and how it compares to the SLog3 I get from the Sony a6300 in Super35.

Basically it's the v30 sensor vs the much bigger APS-C.

I've been in the hospital, got out and finally can get my chance to go look at the V30. Got the money ready if I like it. Which I think I will based on the video review posted. Thanks @jamezr

Hope all is well!

Picked up the V30 yesterday ( TMO, JOD ) and traded in one of the two Note 8s’ for it. Loving it so far, but couldn't find any decent cases or tempered glass for the screen..ended up spending another $80 at the TMobile store for the incipio case and some tempered glass they had.. Looks great, but damn ..$80! .. Oh well, the device has been great so far and I agree with @jamezr about the FPS speed and doubling as a power button.. I keep trying to depress the sim tray thinking it’s the power button lol..

To early for other observations, but will keep updating !

Just a little issue, nothing too severe. Just got the V30. Typing on it now as I type this. It's a gorgeous phone. It's so light it feels like a toy but it's handling everything I'm throwing at it. No lag, no crashes, no serious issues. Way better signal in my apartment. I haven't seen full bars in years!
