Just a little issue, nothing too severe. Just got the V30. Typing on it now as I type this. It's a gorgeous phone. It's so light it feels like a toy but it's handling everything I'm throwing at it. No lag, no crashes, no serious issues. Way better signal in my apartment. I haven't seen full bars in years!
That's good to hear about the signal. I've got an S7 on Verizon and I'm not too thrilled with the reception.

It's pretty incredible. I'm in my bathroom where my 7 plus got only one bar. I'm going to be even more amazed once T-Mobile band 71 deploys.

That’s such a drastic difference. From 1 bar to full signal? That’s crazy.

I cried. Like literally. I knew my 7 Plus had a bad modem but I really had no idea until this phone came home with me. I kept my 7 Plus because I still like using iOS. Just not for data. On Wi-Fi. Issue I'm having with the V30 is only that it won't connect to my car Bluetooth. So I'll just download lots of songs on my 7+ through YouTube red. It's a 256GB anyways, so no issue. Plus I've got plenty of songs on my Note 3. I'm going to be carrying around 3 phones, every single day. I'm crazy!

Note 8. I was amazed at the speed too. It did actually go over 100. Will try my iPhone 8 plus shortly. But I am not at the same location.

IPhone 8 plus does great. I don't usually get this speed near my house.

Is this with the Intel modem?

Just curious because the Intel in my 7 Plus was a disaster usually. I'd be lucky to get 5-10mbps in my place. I'd get no data a lot throughout my city, which was weird because it's a huge city. Drove home through a lot of those areas coming from the T-Mobile store (I had to travel kind of far) and the V30 didn't have a single hiccup.

Another note to add here:

The call quality on the V30 is crystal clear. It's not choppy at all and no weird breaking in and out like with the 7 Plus. That's a bonus.

It's an AT&T 8 plus phone, so I would assume it has the Intel modem.

Okay so found one oddity, there is slight light bleed between the black bezel and frame. I'm assuming due to how impossibly thin the device is. I'm getting a case anyways, so it's no big deal as it'll hide it.

On 0% brightness, certain backgrounds do appear slightly blotchy but my Note 3 actually has the same issue. So it's not really a big problem.

@jamezr

Tell me why I should go pick up a V30 tomorrow vs waiting for a Pixel XL end of Nov?
Hmmm......so here are my pros and cons...

Pros:

1) Great display to bezel ratio. It does not feel like a 6 in display phone at all. Feels great in the hand and pocket.
2) It is very light and thin
3) Love the camera! It takes great pictures and has a lot of customization you can make if you choose to do so.
4) The LG skin is very light this time around. Not much TMO bloat that could not be deleted. There are some LG duplicate apps just like Sammy does but not as much.
5) The FPS sensor is very fast and responsive! It has worked everytime with no failures.
6) You can double tap the display to wake/lock the screen and use your voice as well.

Cons
1) It is a small phone for my big hands.
2) the bottom speaker is not very loud and can be covered when holding the phone.
3) Every opening has a rough edge to it. What I mean is the headphone jack and USB C port have rough edges...they need to be sanded/ground down. You can feel it and it is very pronounced when I run my hands over them.
4)It doesn't have a on/off button on the right side of the phone. The fingerprint sensor doubles as a on/off button. So you have to push it and it just feels weird to me :)

Personal preferense is to have a wake/lock on/off button on the right side on all phones. It just feels more intuitive to me.
Overall it is a very nice phone. some of what i listed is personal preference.
I have not tried the DAC yet.

First, thanks for that.

Does it feel zippier than the Note? That was my take during my very short time with it in the store.

Is the single speaker same/better/worse thank Note's?

Does it do fast wireless charging like the Note?

They both feel about the same speed wise. The sound is better on the Note 8 and I haven't noticed a difference in wireless charging but really haven;t tested it.....

Regarding your #1 con, is there any phone that feels right for your hand? I'm in the same boat, even the 8+ feels like it could be larger, well if that was used as screen space and not bezels. That's why I'm excited for next years iPhone X plus. Although the whole 18:9 ratio thing just makes phones seem smaller to me.

But I would definitely use a larger phone if it existed. The Nexus 6 if it had no bezels or maybe the Mate 9 come to mind, heck I'd even go 6.5" if it didn't have any bezels.

The Verge loved the phone except for the screen. Torched it. Sounds like the panels that are shipping are inconsistent. Could be a problem for the Pixel XL 2 as well.

My 7 Plus and my husband’s has that same choppy breaking in and out problem yours has and we have Qualcomm modems running on AT&T Service. I get a light static crackle on my S8+. My AT&T S7 Edge, unlocked S7 were more clear but had an occasional pop or crackle. My HTC 10, bought unlocked, was flawless and held the signal great. I never conducted a speed test on it, though.

Just stopped by a Verizon and fondled the v30, killer phone. The screen isn't really very much larger than my 8+, it's a tiny bit narrower and maybe 4mm or so taller, but the entire phone itself is much smaller than my 8+. v30 felt very light as others have stated, coupled with the plastic feeling back and that plastic silver looking paint scheme it felt very cheap to me. That's not to say it wasn't well constructed, it felt very well constructed and I wouldn't doubt the quality of it. But still, something subtly felt cheap about it, like a 2011 plastic phone, but that is mostly my opinion on the back only. The front is beautiful with that huge screen and beautiful bezels. Screen was very nice, I put it down to minimum brightness and there was no banding at all that I could see, but maybe you have to be in the dark to see it? Definitely a phone I'm interested in, but probably something I'll grab when it's $450 or so on swappa in a few months.
