I imagine the V30 is going to be priced around €750-799 here in Europe so similar $749-799 in USA, meaning I doubt we will see the G6 dropping any further as it's pretty much fallen as low as it can feasibly go and still offer retailers a tiny margin.

So you think if I buy within the next few days, that's the best price for awhile? Anyways, if I buy within the next week or two, I position myself for 90 days price protection via my card and will be able to take advantage of some solid Black Friday deals.

PS: No updates from LG with the facial detection in the states. What gives? Waiting for the big update to Android Oreo?

I reckon the price of the G6 as it currently stands will hold. At $450 I mean it's priced about as low as it can go unless they did a complete fire sale to exit from the mobile business, which I don't see happening.

Re: updates

Yeah the G6 is my first LG device and so the slow updates are a little bothersome, the H870DS model I have has literally only had 1 update since it's release. However the European model I had prior did have 3 updates before I swapped over to the dual sim variant model.

If it's an indicator of anything it is that I don't expect the V30 to be any different. Still looking like the only reliable place for android updates and version updates is Google.

Thing is that I do not expect the Google Pixel 2 to be any good, especially with crazy bezel sizes and no headphone jack. All it is just a beacon for future updates. I also expect it to cost so much $ and not offer facial recognition. It's hard to go from a Galaxy S8+ to a phone with less features, that's why the G6 is a perfect compromise and the iPhone 8 is a great alternative.

Here is their update history on my carrier: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-34136

I think that there should be a realistic expectation the facial recognition software update should be within the next month or two.

To be fair, the Pixel 2 XL will is rumored to be a decent competitor in the design department. Are you familiar with any of the leaks regarding that phone?

No word on facial recognition though.

The way it looked, the rear camera module looked ugly and the bezels are still huge compared to most mainstream 2017 flagships. Specs wise, it will be relevant. Design wise, it's stuck in 2014.

I'm just worried about the lack of actual leaked parts or photos especially given we have had Pixel 2 leaks and V30 leaks ahead and yet no Pixel 2 XL .. seems odd.

That's the standard Pixel 2. The one by HTC and following HTC's ethos design wise.

The Pixel XL 2 is supposed to be more akin to the G6 / V30 aesthetically, however we still haven't had any concrete leaked images yet.

In that case, it is only Pixel XL 2 or bust for most people looking at it?

Which is kind of weird at this point.

I am waiting to see what LG has to offer tomorrow at the announcement. It has come down to the Note 8 or the V30 for me.

I see you going Note 8 because it will have more hardware and software features.

Not sure...I have waited for the V30 reveal so far. With TMO and JoD I can switch after a month anyway....
It depends on which one will be delivered to me first! lol

You must be your local T-Mobile Store's #1 Jumper haha. I would go V30 tbh because it will have better software and a quad DAC.

I like the Samsung skin over the LG skin all day long...... But LG has a better FPS location and that might be enough.

Is that because the LG skin is fugly and doesn't have as many features? The Note 8 didn't feel as nice in my hands as the S8/S8+ because the edges are more pronounced in your hands. Dual cameras are nice, software didn't feel that much newer. LG's presser is at 3 am EST, which his way too damn early imo.

The default apps have better a feature set imho.

But I really want to see what they do with that camera and the FLAT display!

Gsmarena.com has updated the v30 spec sheet to show a 3300 mAh battery. I suppose that along with the OLED panel and the 835 chip may provide solid battery life. I just may be picking one of these up

I'm actually getting a bit interested in this device myself. That blue looks awesome.

Edit:

.... Ooooh shiny!
