As rumors goes, we will get silver and blue here in Europe, but no black?!?
Please LG...
Oh no not that regional nonsense again! Though if I get this phone I really don't have my heart set on a particular color. I'd probably get silver if it's available, but would happily take whatever.

My husband is NOT happy with my interest in this phone. He is totally fine with helping me sell my S8+ to one of his friends to help offset the cost of a Note 8, if we decide to take advantage of the trade in of our S7Edges for the Note 8 deal to former Note 7 owners. I think he's leaning that way. He likes Samsung but he is not a fan of LG.

He's chipping away at me for being so interested in the V30 and trying to get me to justify my interest. I'm just ignoring him. I do as I please and am pleased when I do. :p And for one thing, it's too early to justify my interest in this phone even to myself. I barely know anything about it. I just want to make sure there's even a possibility of getting it down the line if I do get interested. And knowing how LG prices drop, I certainly wouldn't be getting one at debut prices, anyway. There's an iPhone Keynote to be gotten through and the Pixel debut to look forward to. Sheesh. It's too early to commit to any course of action. My husband does not understand fun. Pffft.

Meanwhile, I have enjoyed eating a donut that looks just like the one my Pusheen avatar is eating. So now I must go waddle off those calories. TTYL friends.

Quick whine:

How the hell does LG still whiff so hard on announcing pricing and availability? What is the point of announcing a new product, making a splash, getting review units into everyone's hands if you're not going to tell consumers "Hey, this cool new thing we just announced is available to buy on this date at this price!"

So stupid.

That's LG.. Must love shooting themselves in the foot!

LG should've launched this device before the Note 8 dropped! Now, it'll probably happen post Note 8 and iPhone 7S+/8.. Life's NOT looking so Good right now with LG!

I think depending on its price, it actually would stand a chance against those options. I love everything I'm seeing about the new Note, and have one on pre-order, BUT...if the V30 is priced at, say, $650-$700, that might gum up the works.

But...no idea if it is cause LG likes announcing new things just not when we can buy them and for how much.

I think I'm more hyped about this device then Samsung's latest offering

Why couldn't this be a tablet minus the camera stuff?

Impressive phone. I'm impressed by the physical size. It's smaller (and wider for those who like it) than the S8+.

It wouldn't be a Note then.

As long as it has the spen and related features, plus the additional features touchwiz brings, it would still be a Note in my books. The curved screen and tall body only came around this version (well curved screen came in the 7, but the body was still well proportioned).

Love the look of this. Looks like a really great phone and one my interest is certainly piqued in.

I hope LG continue down this path. After the G6 and now this, it just shows that they don't need a gimmick in order to make fantastic smart phones. The fact that I'm interested shows they're doing something right as I've never owned an LG mobile phone and have never wanted to... Until these last two devices.
Great job.

I’m not in the market for another phone but if I had to choose between this and the Note8, surprisingly, I think I’d choose the V30 with little hesitation. Beautiful design without the ‘too narrow’ aspect ratio and excessively curved edges, a useful fingerprint sensor and great alternative wide angle lens setup. I’m still not a fan of either OEM’s version of Android but at first glance, LG appears to have dialed back their skin and the V30 is a pretty spectacular looking device.

Why not? The past 5 Notes were like this, at least before the Note 7. Maybe not so much the tiny bezels, but pretty much everything else.

IMO LG goofed up by not releasing this phone before the Note 8, they could have probably swayed a lot of consumers with a good marketing campaign. I also think the V30 should have a pen, not because it would sell more (because I doubt it would), but because it would make a hell of a "note" type phone.

There's still one Android phablet to be announced later this year which I'm looking forward to, and that's the Huawei Mate 10. I'm sure it'll be a beast, easily accessible to buy everywhere and way cheaper than the competition.

Last year the Mate 9 was 599€ first day where I live, and it's still a great phone with dual camera setup, 64GB on-board storage, huge battery life, etc.

I've come to really like Huawei after my first phone with them, my current Huawei Nova Plus. The Mate 10 should be another great phablet for this year.

a better place
I have one big concern that would stop me buying the phone over something like the pixel 2. That is the fact that current G6 handset's are unlikely to ever see the UX 6.0+ improvements in an update over the devices 6.0

Given its a device fractionally less than 6 months old that kind of abandonment of technology would potentially leave the short-term and long-term future of the device in question.

Whilst this annoys on a $400 device, it strikes me as an insult on a potentially $800 device.

Reading XDA and Reddit it appears LG has a habit and history of not keeping current annual devices up-to date software feature wise with their GUI UX.

Indeed unless future LG devices are very reduced in price, the lack of commitment to update current year devices to same level of GUI version would put me of buying an LG device again in the future, despite liking the G6 a lot.

Yeah, Samsung used to do the same thing. Luckily they learned and started doing this last year. Hopefully LG does the same.

I would be open to trying something like this if it would work on Verizon. I'll have to check it out when it's released.

Seriously an impressive showing by LG. Really liking most of what I'm reading and seeing.

And that design -- wow -- I think it looks many times better than the G6, the Note 8, and the iPhone 8.

How bout chip away back at your husband, and say dude why the hell would you want the Lagwiz Note 8 by Samesung ? That phone blows IMO. Plus it looks uncomfortable to hold than the S8+ with it's nice rounded corners and slightly smaller form factor.

I wouldn't take a Note 8 for an even trade on my Nexus 6P, honestly. Except to sell it and make some ca$h.

The LG V30 all day over the Note 8. But really the Pixel XL 2 all day of any phone.

Very good point, the Mate 9 was a BEAST, and they were the smartest manufacturer to actually put a decent sized battery in their phone, with a 4,000mAh battery, and the UI is just smoooooth, and their custom chipset is really a great processor.

The Mate 10 is supposed to be a super smartphone, with a processor better than the SD836, a large battery again, a new OLED display, and large screen, but minimal bezels.

I've watched a swath of videos. I think it's fair to say based on their comments, most of the smartphone tech blog community is kind of in love with this phone. Technobuffalo went so far as to declare the screen is better than Sammy's.

That camera looks like a game changer.
