I tried to install my printer driver (Brother MFC 7820-N) and it installs a generic driver. When I use it to print the printer spits out constant error messages and uses a ton of paper, I had to shut the printer down manually and terminate the job to make it stop.

I simply think there are no Yosemite drivers for my printer yet.

These are no drivers yet. My HP printer still doesn't have a mavericks driver. I had to install the hp disk and print using the USB card. Can't use the hp printer in Yosemite yet. Do you use Yosemite as your daily driver or do you still use mavericks. If so, you might have to switch to mavericks for printing.

Has anyone tried SuperDuper! on Yosemite? Does it work?

I've tried it several times and it always crashes just after authenticating and telling it to go ahead with the copy... then when you relaunch it, it's forgotten the settings you just setup and you need to start from scratch...

So far, in my first re-attempt, it froze up at the Making 'Target' Bootable stage...

Trying again now.. right, while it didn't update the progress while copying files and took forever to make the target disc bootable, it took about 1.5 hours to clone 300-odd GB. Then after ejecting the target disc (as instructed) it quit..

The Pages '09 Send via Mail option doesn't work. This is a big deal for me because I use it all the time, and Apple is highly unlikely to fix it. Major bummer.

Adding a printer...

Anybody having trouble adding a printer? When I try to add a printer (Epson Workforce 600), the sheet that says "adding printer" turns completely blank and I have to force-quit System Preferences to get any farther.

Yosemite automagically asked me if I'd like to install the driver for my Brother MFC-685CW when I logged in first time (printer was already powered up and connected via USB); it downloaded and installed the print driver software. Seems to be working normally... :)

Scanning on the Brother MFC-685CW printer

Yosemite automagically asked me if I'd like to install the driver for my Brother MFC-685CW when I logged in first time (printer was already powered up and connected via USB); it downloaded and installed the print driver software. Seems to be working normally... :)

Just for giggles I went back into the Brother print driver and clicked on the Scan function (the MFC-685CW is one of those print/fax/scan all-in-one color inkjet printers) to see if was operational and, surprise, it also works just fine! I scanned in and saved a 600dpi image. :) Sweet! Thank you Brother!

SafeNet Crypto Authentication app...

For any crypto-geeks out there who use hardware tokens to authenticate sessions/encrypt data, the SafeNet Authentication Client version 8.2.27.0 SP2 package ("SafeNetAuthenticationClient.8.2.27.0.dmg") seems to install on Yosemite and work fine with the SafeNet Ikey FIPS 140-3 tokens. The icon is slow to appear in the menubar on login, but fine after that... :)

Where are the unsupported apps?

Where does Yosemite 'place' the unsupported apps? For instance Printopia is not supported and no longer visable from System Preferences yet I can't find it in my folders to uninstall.

Citrix GoToMeeting v6.3.1

Someone was asking about GoToMeeting: version 6.3.1 appears to work fine on my Yosemite install. Even operates with my Logitech HD Pro C920 Webcam. :)

DiskWarrior and OS X Yosemite?

Has anyone tried Alsoft DiskWarrior with Yosemite? I did not see it on the list of apps that are okay or don't work. Thanks. Doug

Memory Clean app not working in Public Beta

Use 'sudo purge' from the Terminal, its the exact same thing, included with the OS Beta. Best to 'man purge" first.

Although I might add its really not necessary to 'purge' memory, its generally only used by developers. The OS does a fine job of managing virtual memory.

BTW, I was pleased to see the purge command included in the Beta, usually that only ships with Xcode.

I used Disk Warrior from another machine to clean up my Yosemite disk, essentially I put the Yosemite installation in target mode. I found the typical issues, reconstructed the file system and all was well.

I have not tried running from Yosemite. I am just glad to know Disk Warrior understands the file system OK. There are no notes at Alsoft.com yet regarding 10.10.

Drobo Dashboard is broken for me.

Drobo Dashboard is still not working in PB1. Had to roll back to Mavericks due to this. The Dashboard says it is missing components even after a reinstall and Drobo volumes will not mount (5D via Thunderbolt and DroboPro via iSCSI). FAQ on Drobo's website says they will not resolve the issue until the public release of the finished version of Yosemite.

A short list of incompatibilities with Yosemite

I've been installing and trying many applications on my Yosemite partition and find that 90% or so seem to launch and run fine. But I haven't put any application through all it's paces except for Firefox 31. It is humming along and I have 28 extensions installed. Nothing incompatible.

That being said, I have some incompatibilities:
  • NoSleep 1.3.3 incompatible
  • Onyx 2.8.6 incompatible
  • TechTool Pro 7.0.4 won’t launch :(
  • Xmarks_for_Safari_2.0.15 will not launch...says it needs 10.5 or later, lol
  • LibreOffice 4.3.4 won't launch and you get the message: To open “LibreOffice” you need to install the legacy Java*SE*6 runtime. I really don't know about installing such an old Java on a Yosemite partition.
