I decided to call FedEx and although the guy didn't have the details, he mentioned something about a snow storm in China, but indicated that it had not changed the expected delivery date. Sounds like a lag in explaining delays... Maybe...

This should be OK. I am having my MBA shipped to my address in the US but now reside permanently in Shanghai. The weather here has been awful and there are transportation delays all around. I believe the MBA's made it to Alaska later than intended and they are finally putting in the record/reasons why that was the case. I think the MBA's have departed Alaska to their final sorting destinations and were not shipped back to Shanghai

All that bad weather in China, the snow right before the oncoming New Year holiday period, did that affect Shanghai area?

Otherwise maybe it is just paperwork error. It could be an ugly one though. Like the individual shipping paperwork that goes on after the pallet gets busted out of bulk mode is what's actually in Alaska but the pallets of machines are still back in Shanghai? yeek.

its probably due to the weather they are experiencing in China. Its snowing pretty bad over there.

i too dared to call fedex at 12:26am PST hahah thought i would try casue i was getting pissed thinking if it went back to china

so talked to a lady which sounds really sleepy btw lol

anyways she said it was casue of an big snow storm in china and due to that delayed the paper work i guess power outage?
but she told me that the package is still in ANCHORAGE, AK and just being held there until china gets back together and sends the paper work

she even told me that i will prob get the package monday and the latest tuesday

The weather has been awful out here. There has never been this amount of snow in Southern China. As a result, there is no infrastructure in place to deal with this type of weather and causing all sorts of delays.

Most of my employees intended to go back to their hometowns for the upcoming holidays but are now stuck in Shanghai. Freeways north and south of Shanghai are covered in 30km of ice and impossible for vehicles to drive on. Domestic flights are shut down because the runways have iced over. Shanghai Pudong International Airport is still running but only allowing outbound international flights with large delays and many flight cancellations. That is the airport FedEx uses to ship out of Shanghai.

Thank you for that info!

in the meantime now I understand it's REALLY terrible for people in China trying to travel, millions of people delayed in their one chance to get home with familiy for the holidays. so I will hold a good thought for their weather to improve.

The situation sounds reasonably good for you guys whose paperwork and machines are separated. it's the reverse of what i was thinking that the papers were in alaska but not the laptops.

For me, not so great since I am behind you. in transit from Shanghai. so basically right now my machine is probably sitting in a pallet on the same plane as your little package of papers. well i was not sched for delivery until Wednesday, there is time yet for all this to sort out.

First time I've ordered anything overseas from FedEx, just realized this:

Here's a bit of a Washington Post January 30 piece about the snow in southern China. By now it seems about 8 airports have reopened but it must still be a terrible jam for the millions of people trying to get home for the holidays.

>> Courier companies announced they were rejecting non-local deliveries. The Shanghai Post Office said demand for its EMS delivery service was up 50 percent as a result, but asked that customers call ahead to confirm services before trying to send parcels.

Some cargo shipments were also suspended due to transport snags elsewhere, said a customs offial at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Free Trade Zone, where some operations were suspended for a half-day Monday due to snow.

With companies unable to send documents by courier, customs clearance was delayed in some cases, said the official, who like many Chinese bureaucrats refused to give his name. <<

Show me (or Apple) the money!

I know this probably seems passe to most on this thread, but as an Aussie I'm a little further behind (surprise surprise) with my order for my MBA. Basically, I placed an order online on the 17th Jan (with shipment by 15th Feb, delivery by 19th), and to date nothing has changed in my credit card account; Apple hasn't debited my account yet. When will/should this happen?

Hope someone out there has the magic answer. :)

uber gorilla - I bought mine on the 16th of Jan, est ship date 7th of Feb, est arrival 13th. I've received a shipment notice today (2nd of Feb) and it says I'll get it by the 7th.

Same here. My CTO ordered 3:09 PST 1/16 has now shipped, with scheduled delivery 2/6, but based on reports here, it might be 2/5! Yippee!

Whoo! That's good news that orders from the 16th are starting to move.
