prepared for shipment for 2 days- waiting till next (Chinese) year
My MBA ordered 1/15 is prepared for shipment but it didn't make either of the last 2 days FedEx flights out. Anybody know how long their New Year's holiday is really going to be? Googling Chinese New Year's looks like it could last up to 2 weeks. The ships Feb 6 date, arrives Feb 12 doesn't look like its going to hold up.

I'm never never never pre ordering from apple again. Not even if they give me a $500 discount for pre ordering. I have an apple store with the 1.8/sdd for sale 20 min away... So ridiculous that they got to the stores before most pre orders were completed. If they had not yet charged my card I would cancel my order and go to the store to get it..
My air is sleeping-in in Indy
So, my air cleared customs in Indy in the early hours of this morning, 8:32am...according to Fed/Ex tracking. The deliver date still sez delivery on the 12th. No movment or update all day. So, I pick up the phone and call Fed/Ex...they bang on the computer and tell me..."yup, it cleared customs this morning and it will be sorted tonight, delivered tomorrow."
Well that's good news, but why in the world should it sit there all day dozeing when shipments are showing up at stores all over the place, including stores. Mine was ordered on the 15th of January.
What a FUBAR roll out....really, unimaginable.
Hopefully tomorrow this sad delivery tale will close and I can start enjoying the air. My sympathies for all who are waiting or still stuck in China.

Maybe Thursday,maybe Friday.
So like other macrumors I called Apple, and told them
this was unfair.
They issued me a $100 credit.
That helps to mollified me.

Looks like the 2 flight numbers for FedEx between Shanghai and Anchorage are 90 and 24. One appears to leave at around 9PM and the other is at 9:30 PM

My date said the 12th even after it was shown to be on the truck!
They are a bunch of sandbaggers over there at Apple and FedEx. I do it too when asked for a date to get something done... I always pad about a week or two in there... make me look good.

Life is full of surprises. I got up this morning with the memory of the nagging thought of 11 Feb delivery as the last word from Apple and the FedEx website site and FedEx employees. Where was the shipment and why were there no information updates on the FedEx site?
I just checked FedEx. According to the FedEx website, Scotty beamed the unit directly to Phoenix:

The Indianapolis time stamp of the Int'l release from Indianapolis must have happened with the unit in Phoenix (local time conversion was 6:36AM and it is at least a four hour flight from Indianapolis to Phoenix this time of year)?!
Anyway, those with Feb 2 ship dates may get some good news today. Today is the original proposed FedEx delivery date the first time I checked with the FedEx website last Saturday.

FedEx showed up at the house at 4:09PM this afternoon, 6 Feb. So they did manage to get it here on the original delivery date in the Apple shipping notice. I may have even had the expedited shipping fee refunded by Apple. Glad this experience is past. best of luck to all the rest awaiting their dream laptop.

It always looks better for you to over estimate than to under estimate stuff like this.

Well today I called up and got a rep at apple and when asked about any updates on shipping and the conservative estimates that the website gives. He instantly hung up on me. JERK.... so I called back and asked to speak to a supervisor.
I told him the situation and how it was BS that I could get my Macbook faster from Amazon then Apple. He was very apologetic over the situation, almost overly appologetic, like he has been giving this speech ALOT. When I ordered the Macbook originally I was plainly told that the ship date was a conservative estimate and I could expect it sooner. Well sooner has come and gone and I was a little upset. They gave me free over night and a free USB Ethernet dongle for my troubles!!!
Its not my macbook in my hands, but its a nice start.
They didn't have any updates for me, never mentioned anything about New Years or production issues, but would they say this even if they knew it? I doubt it!
