Apple TV Update Coming Soon

now the question is... i ordered a 1.8/80 from amazon. apple isn't even shipping the CTO machines yet. so how long is the wait... 3 weeks? eek.

How do you know the authorization has been placed on your card? Do you have to call up your cc company...on amex I dont think it shows up online until the charge is actually made...

My credit card works this way. I have online access. I connect with my account, and look to see what my available balance is. If the cc shows a decrease in the available balance, ie difference equal to cost of MBA. Then I know that there is a hold on my cc for the MBA.

You could also call your cc service center.

Welcome to hell.

Here's what I don't get, though: The Apple Store page for the MBA lists two configurations... 1.6/80 at $1799, and 1.8/SSD at $3098. To me, neither of these is CTO/BTO, since they are "stock" configurations according to the page. To me, a CTO/BTO machine would be, say, a 1.8/80, because that requires that you specifically select a CPU upgrade. This one reason why I am a touch concerned that the 1.8/SSD should take much longer to ship than the "base" 1.6/80.

EDIT: My MBA SuperDrive just changed to "Prepared for Shipment"!

Flight Status Update

FedEx flight 24 has landed and flight 90 is almost there.

From what I understand any MBA with an SSD. Those models will be the last to begin shipping.

Wait, are you saying that your 1.8ghz 64sdd is prepared for shipment??

Have they ever hosed their EU customers like this before? The UK is a big market for Apple, and they charge us a huge premium on most products. They are really screwing the pooch by shipping only to the USA so far.

From Apple's press release:

Pricing & Availability
The new MacBook Air is now shipping and will be available through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers for a suggested retail price of $1,799 (US),

As of today??? It doesn't say anything about any future date as far as the Apple store's and retailers go...

I just called Apple to see if it was an authorization or a charge, they said it was an authorization and the rep. gave me the same information that is on the status page, which we all know is wrong. :)

Not sure what's going on since Apple already authorized the card when I placed the order...

oo true, I didnt read properly. When did you order? I ordered on the 17th and still no change. My shipping date is on the 8th feb..
I ordered immediately after the keynote on the 15th (within one hour of the Apple Store coming back online). MBA 1.8/SSD ship date still shows as Feb 6, but it's looking hopeful that it's not going to take that long.
