No kidding!

If only someone could tell me when the pilot for Flight90 left his house, when he arrived at the airport, and if he stopped to use the restroom or grab a snack. That way I'll be able to more precisely pinpoint the package arrival. Thanks in advance!

:p

Guys -

Where do you get the information on the tracking page about what flight(s) the packages are on???

So I guess it just sat there for 24 hours? In the end, even though I ordered it the day of the keynote, I will have to wait until Monday to get mine. 4-5 days after people ordered it immediately after the keynote and 2-3 days after people can just walk into a damn store to pick it up. I can spit over to the 5th Ave. store from where I live but b/c I made the mistake of trusting the online store reps (and the in store reps) who told me it was quicker to order it online, I'm SOL.

Yes, I'm nagging :(

What's stopping you from buying one at the store and returning the one that gets shipped to you? My understanding is that the restocking fee applies only to opened packages.

Right. Restocking fee only applies to opened packages. I'd do as desenso suggests.

has anyone that ordered through amazon received a status update yet?

Not yet, but I am suspecting that tomorrow we might. You know if they're not available at the actual Apple Stores yet, then the resellers won't be selling them either. Here's hoping tomorrow (or later today?)

Heh, trust me, I've tried to figure out how to do exactly that except I made two big "mistakes."

1) Used my iPhone discount on the online order. Even if I were to return the online order, I wont be able to use the discount on the in store purchase b/c it won't be credited back in time. And you cannot do it retroactively. I asked.

2) I would have to ship the online order back, I cannot bring it back to a store. $$$. I asked.

3) I went for the $99 printer rebate deal, so I would also have to ship that back. $$$.

I got fooled, and I knew better. You should never trust retail I've known that forever, but I did. This was my first online mac order (only my second mac ever). Will likely be my last.

Oh, and I paid for 2-3 shipping, got the free "overnight" (lol, right) upgrade, and I'm still on for monday, not friday. I did call them and they did refund me the $18 but I'd still much rather have it today. Or Tomorrow. Or Saturday. Or Sunday.

I think that there's a fair chance you won't get the laptop by this weekend. But then again, it's not yet confirmed that stores will have them tomorrow, and furthermore, there's no confirmation that they will have lots. When the Aluminum iMacs came out the local Apple stores here were out for a long time..

Still, unfortunate situation you're in. Sorry..

Why not buy one in the store tomorrow, and then return the one coming via FedEx back to the store next week? If you keep it sealed, I see no reason why the Apple Store wouldn't refund your money.

FEH, never mind. Saw the other posts ahead of mine.

Hey guys does anyone know if you can get the Gold Box deal from amazon on a 1.8 Ghz 80 GB Air? I've been trying for 20 minutes and it only gives me the deal for the standard 1.6

Thanks

I'd say it's all but certain that I will have to wait for monday. But I know I'm whining/venting a bit. It was only a few days ago that my order page said 2/6 and delivers 2/11, so this IS better. But the turning point is when I know I can just go to any of the Manhattan stores and get one. That kills me. I'm naturally impatient, and to make matters worse, I'm in law school and I've been using an EeePC for the last two weeks, which you can imagine is driving me up the wall. :D :(

Anyway, I called FedEx and oddly enough, the guy did say there is a chance that it could be delivered tomorrow or even Saturday (Apple said the same thing) but I find that highly unlikely.

Has anyone heard about having them in stores on Friday?

NYC Soho claims full ignorance on any details. I assume it would have to be by tomorrow, but curious if they would put them out later today. (I assume they'd want to move stuff to set them and alas would prefer to do this when closed.)

i totally understand what your going thru. i actually canceled my order once it became apparent to me that i wouldn't get it by friday. i called the 14th st store today and the guy there said the rumor around the store is that they would go on sale this weekend - but who knows - these are all rumors - if i were you - i'd keep my monday delivery - i bet these are more popular than we initially thought and i'm worried they'll sell out at the stores very quickly. i wish i hadn't canceled my order.

I had both the 1.6 and 1.8 in my Gold Box yesterday. Didn't have the SSD versions, however.

for some reason Amazon is listing the 1.8 as "Not in stock; order now and we'll deliver when available" but then it won't let you order it-tells you it's out of stock!?

1.8/ssd?

Sorry if this question has already been addressed, but I saw that someone last night was showing a "prepared to ship" on the 1.8/ssd. Has anyone else's with this configuration changed status?

How are they security locking the MBAs in place?

There were earlier rumours that the MBA is not Kensington compatible, and yet there seems to be a beige cable attached to the ports. Was this a non-standard security lock?

Dont you think Apple would know what serial number was on the MBA that they shipped you?

I don't think anyone is suggesting attempting to swap one MBA for another. I would legitimately expect the store to accept a return from something I ordered online if it is sealed. I understand a phone rep may have said "you must ship it back", but I don't believe it. I'd instead let store management step up and help solve the problem. I'd be very forthright about it too, showing how I bought it in store the week before even.
