Dont you think Apple would know what serial number was on the MBA that they shipped you?
I think he meant simply not opening the one I get in the mail and returning it. Not pulling the switch-a-roo, which I wish I could. Not ike it really matters if I don't open it.
My 1.8/SSD is "prepared to ship". I thought I saw a couple of others that posted the same.

man, I wanna get one of these so badly..... but I just can't bring myself to spend a ridiculous amount of money on something that's going to have LESS power than what I currently have (2.2GHz MB).

Fedex plane info
I was able to identify the Fedex flights from China to Anchorage on flightaware.com. There are only 2, FDX90 which goes from ZSPD (Shanghai) to PANC (Anchorage)then on to KMEM (Memphis) and FDX24 which goes from ZSPD to PANC then to KIND (Indianapolis). Both end up in the continental US (either Memphis or Indy) at around 11:45PM EST.
Since there are only 2 flights a day, they must be on one of them....

Yep, same situation here. I ordered the same spec on 1.15 @ 8:12pm and still showing "not yet shipped"
May be a really dumb Q, but has anyone's 1.8/SSD order that was placed LATER than Jan 15th changed status at all?
Ordered on the 28th (at least, that's when the order was finally posted) so it's probably gonna be a bit of a wait.
No, but I bet they are prepared at least by later today or tomorrow.
MacBook Air in Hand!!
The box is sweet! It's exactly like the iPhone box! As other first reviewers have said, the case feels amazingly sturdy and there is definitely a huge weight difference in feel compared to a MacBook when picking up with one hand!

1.8/SSD still "Not Yet Shipped"... and I ordered only 1.5 hours after the Apple Store came back up after the keynote.
OR.... sell it on ebay for a small little profit, because by the looks of it UK hasn't even had one single "Prepared to Ship" notification, and they gt price gauged so much.

I picked up a nice little case at BestBuy for $20 on sale. Tried it with the Macbook they had in store and fits nicely (a little snug but Air should fit perfectly). The Apple Kiosk guy said he won't get their Air for at least another two or three weeks.
