Hi Kaihes, as for DisplayCal, were you able to calibrate the external display? Which HW calibrator are you using?
Thanks!
Hi,

unfortunately DisplayCal cannot detect the external display. For now I take the older color profile, which I created with my old 16" MB pro.

Issue: Unable to mount my external Samsung T5. It prompts me for my password, but I only see the drive in Disk Utility as unmounted. Any ideas?

Replying to my own post. It mounted, it just took quite a while. (1 TB drive). Hmmmm.... Even on my 2014 MBP it mounts in under a second.... Any others notice this?

I Have M1 MBP and Mouse can be slow (HP wireless with receiver plugged into USB C Hub), and a BT Jelly comb amazon special keyboard that works fine with my old mbp from 2014. It types, but the shortvuts (volume etc) don't do anything.
I was looking at those Jelly Comb keyboards. They look nice and are affordable. If they work well enough for a M1 Mini, I might grab one while they are still on sale.

Not so much an issue, but just wondering my machine (MBP, 16gb) is constantly using over 11gb ram with just a couple of safari tabs open and a couple of preview documents open. Why would it be using so much? I'd be very surprised if the 8gb model couldn't manage this light workload...?

My biggest issue is surrounding Messages. When I move onto my MacBook Pro M1, all Messages received since last using it don't appear as expected via iCloud. It's driving me mental.
I had this same issue but I resolved it by logging out of iMessage on the MacBook and then logging back into it.

My first M1 Air had a popping sound coming from the right speaker just prior to playing any audio. Exchanged it at the store last week and this one's been good so far.

I also had an issue a couple days ago where I couldn't open any apps until I rebooted. I had waked the Air from sleep and was using the stuff I had left open. Then I started trying to open a couple different apps and they wouldn't open. The icon never bounced in the dock, etc. Then I'd try to click the icon again and it would give the little "that can't be done" noise (not sure what it's actually called lol). And I noticed it was doing it on every app I didn't already have open. The apps I had open already worked fine. I also couldn't force quit out of anything. Eventually I was able to get it to shut down and then I booted back up and everything was fine. It was pretty weird.

I think something about new Finder has some bug issue. I still can’t wirelessly copy file from my old MBA to a new one (using SMB presumably). This used to work beautifully between my old MBA and my Mac mini (admittedly old macOS versions). It just prepared to copy and stayed that way until it stopped trying. This, like you said, used to be a sec or two at most between my 8-9 years old Macs.

I have one of these, works well in Big Sur 11.0.1 on Mac Mini M1 16gb/1 Tb
I have a Jelly Comb keyboard my self, but the volume keys etc. don't work for me, is it working for you? It works fine on Big Sur on my old MacBook Pro, so think it's a M1 issue not Big Sur issue...

Apart from that it feels good, if slightly flex (at least my model does).

I have a Dell U2720Q and cannot get RGB as input from my Mac Mini M1. I have tried HDMI to HDMI, USB-C to USB-C, TB3 to TB3 and USB-C to DP, doesn’t matter, input color format is still YPbPr.

Hey guys,

I just switched from a MacBook Air 2020 with Intel i5 to a MacBook Pro M1. I'm finding it amazing the jump in terms of performance, speed, and specially thermals :)

I do have a small question. I've been using the Pro for 48 hours, I feel like this trackpad is a lot more noisier than the one on the Air 2020. I've already set the feedback to "Smooth" on settings. But comparing to the air's trackpad this one feels stiffer and noisier. I'll drop links to a couple of videos (please bare in mind that the first video was shot very close to the trackpad with absolute silence, that's why it's so loud, and it was still using the default medium feedback):

Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to give me some feedback on this. Don't know if I should be worried.

Not sure as I don’t really use them - will check and confirm later when I can get on my Mac after work.

Don’t worry. macOS will just claim as much ram as it can get, to be „prepared“. If you see a lot of „swap use“ this can be an indicator, that you are running out of ram (although macOS will sometimes still use swap even if there is free ram).

I am having some issues with sleep with an external display connected. Sometimes when I close the lid, and then open it up only the external monitor is recognized, and the internal just remains dark. After I reboot everything return to normal.

I’ve just checked and yes, both volume keys on the keyboard work fine.

Any reason you don't just use tap to click? Then it makes no sound whatsoever.

Friend had the M1 Mini. Magic keyboard and trackpad kept dropping out over bluetooth to the point that it was unusable. Also, two stock trading websites took up all the RAM, putting memory pressure into red, making it slow and glitchy. He's returned it for the 16 GB Mini to see if that works.

Yeah, if they both have the trackpad set to "Light" Click, it must be because of the relatively enormous size of the MBP trackpad. I actually prefer the MBA trackpad to the one on my old 2018 MBP.

You can also set it to be "Silent clicking" if you'd prefer that.

One more issue I found today is there's no more "slow motion" window shrinking when holding the shift button :(

I rather enjoy the small feedback it gives when pressing it, I think its because I used a lot of touchpad's from windows laptops.
Agreed that's what I use. I kinda like the click of the Taptic Engine. It really does feel like the trackpad is pressing down when its not :)
Same.

Would that be the tap to click?

Guys, I like the trackpad and all. My issue was just understanding if it being louder than the Air was normal or not. I love it's gigantic size. That's what she said.
