A user land kernel panic is always an issue. Luckily they tend to be some of the easiest bugs to fix because of the detailed forensic stack trace generated at the moment the panic occurs.
In the example I posted above on M1 MBP, it was a kernel_task panic though in the stack trace.

They are less frequent for sure, but I shouldn't get any.

On my M1 MBP I experience as well:

- Monitor (LG) won‘t come up after sleep
- Ethernet via Thunderbolt sluggish at best, most of the time unusable.
- Ethernet via dock does not work at all (Works on 2017 Intel MBP 13)

Mac Mini M1 doesn't seem to like ANY audio interfaces. I've tried Thunderbolt (through adapter) Focusrite Clarett and USB Roland Studio-Capture. These are High-End units. Now they're useless because of Mac Mini. It's gotta go.

When mine arrives I’m going to try my far simpler Audioquest Dragonfly Red Headphone USB DAC/Amp USB device. Then my older Musical Fidelity DAC and Amp separates. If those don’t work back it goes!!!

Is there a thread about this? If not, it might be worth one.

I've got a lower end Focusrite 2-input USB audio interface and it works fine. Rode USB mic, no issues. Frankly, never noticed anything with any of the dozen audio inputs and outputs that come with the Mac, monitors, microphones, Focusrite and others. Those aren't TB3 audio devices. I connect to them via a TB3 dock.

None of them need drivers though. Could it be that your devices require a custom driver that at minimum needs a reinstall? Or do you have other low level audio drivers running that might misbehave in M1 / Big Sur, causing collateral issues?

Edit: Lots of Logic Pro users have M1 reviews out in YouTube too. Haven't heard this complaint there. This is to say that once you find the root cause, there's a good chance those devices will work again.

MBA M1 - External LG 32QN650-B monitor does not wake from sleep with Mac. Mac awakens with all content moved to the laptop's built-in screen, and the external monitor looks for, but can not find, a signal. Currently, a restart is required to activate the external monitor. It's irritating, but hopefully a future software update will provide a fix.

So I’m curious to see what issues will be popping up with M1 Macs once more users start using them. Please post it here!

Here is what I just stumbled upon:

Here's a follow-up video:

When using a Mokin USB-C & HDMI hub to connect my external display, my battery drains much faster than when not connected to anything. Overnight when it sleeps, and with the external display switched off, it still uses up power, draining about 10% over ten hours. When awake it drains faster obviously. Do you think this is the fault of the USB hub? Or could it be a problem with the USB-C port on the Mac? New MBP M1. I unplugged the USB hub at 12 and we can see that it stops draining then. Cheers

Counterpoint: I can also summarise. I bought a first gen product on a xx.0 release of the OS and have been using it for 2 weeks now. OMFG. It is working pretty much flawlessly.
Always good to hear. Not everyone’s going to have an issue, which is why releases (both OS and hardware) are tough.

Mac Mini 8/512.

Experience so far overall positive, with the following issues:

- Crashplan was ridiculously slow under Rosetta, but not a big deal as I replaced it with Backblaze which is cheaper and faster

- Google Drive/Backup And Sync doesn't work at all, replaced with Dropbox

- Docker: I am currently using a remote Docker engine with a cheap VPS to work and it's OK (I wrote about it in case anyone is interested)

- Before installing the latest beta I had a couple of kernel panics which seemed to be related to HDMI

- At the moment I have a single display connected to HDMI, an old Acer 1080p. The display works fine but when the Mini wakes from sleep, sometimes it takes time for the display to wake up as well or I have to disconnect the cable, power the display off and on etc. This seems to happen even if I disable the sleep for the computer. As long as the display goes to sleep, the problem occurs. I will receive a new display from BenQ in a couple of days and I will be using that as primary connected to USB-C/Thunderbolt. I hope I won't have to disconnect both displays too often....

- I regret that I went with 8GB of RAM. Sometimes I have high memory pressure resulting in a general slow down for a while until it recovers. I wish I had gone with half the storage but 16GB of RAM :( Luckily 95% or more of the time it's OK and I don't have any issues.

- I have a Canon printer/scanner (TS5000 series) and for some reason when I click on "open scanner" in System Preferences nothing happens. It doesn't open the usual dialog with the scanner stuff. For now I am using a Canon utility which lets me scan documents but with poor quality despite i select high DPI. I haven't found a better alternative to this yet.

One problem I am surprised I am not having at all is Bluetooth issues. I have an older Magic keyboard and mouse and they work well, never had any issues with them so far.

Mine just had "Your Mac restarted because of a problem" coming out of sleep ?
Yes M1 Mac Mini had kernel panic in sleep mode today (I bought it yesterday). M1 MBP also had one about a day after I got it, but I was using it for quite a while and lost some work due to automatic restart.

I have a Jelly Comb keyboard my self, but the volume keys etc. don't work for me, is it working for you? It works fine on Big Sur on my old MacBook Pro, so think it's a M1 issue not Big Sur issue...

Apart from that it feels good, if slightly flex (at least my model does).
That's interesting. Was they keyboard you are having key issues with the smaller (magic keyboard-sized) keyboard they sell or the full length?

no issues other than mine died out of the blue and apple said its toast without any visible damage under the bottom lid. I gave them permission to call me if they have questions when inspecting it.

actually the Space gray trackpad 2 wasn't a super smooth performance with the Air. Reminded me of my Mac mini 2018 Bluetooth issues. Anyways im skipping this generation.

My M1 Air only gets about 6500 on Cinebench multi-core.. Should I return it? Seems most scores are over 7000. Maybe the CPU in this one isn't one of the better binned ones ?

What else is running when you run the test? (Check Activity Monitor to see if there's something running in the background, like indexing.)

Is it brand new? As in less than 24-48 hours old? If so, there are a lot of background tasks running. Wait for them to complete and try again.

I wanted to give Command & Conquer a try that I purchased in 2015, but maybe it would then be a Rosetta of a port? Anyway, App Store doesn’t give the install option. Pity.
32 bit ?
32bit apps all died a long time ago.

I just ran it and got multicore score of 7291 with no apps open, and while displaying an external 4K monitor. I have the MBA M1 512GB storage version with the extra core.
