Yeah, better not hold your breath waiting for update. Probably new generation monitor with new software for it is more likely...And once again... they just updated the date, but with exact same version...
Well, I just encourage everyone to write Woz's people at teamwoz@woz.org . You could say something ike: "we know Woz uses QuickRes, could he ask Apple to make it work as well on new Macs as it did before?"Woz uses QuickRes, which sets scaled resolutions. He said "You impress me greatly with this app... I can't tell you how badly I wanted this app from the moment I bought my Retina."
just got this new monitor today - after fidgeting with it for a while to get it working, finally got it working at 3360 x 1417 with my 2016 macbook pro esc, and wow, the size and sharpness is amazing. Pretty close to my lg ultrafine 4k 21.5in, which had incredible dpi.
Any tips on settings? I change to DCI-P3 picture mode. I have my brightness to 100%, it is bright enough, but doesn't seem to be overly bright even at 100%. However, there doesn't seem to be any way to change the brightness from my keyboard, or from the display panel, just from the monitor itself? Same goes for the speaker volume too.
1. I actually have similar experiences when I had the usb receiver plugged in on my monitor. My keyboard would disconnect sporadically. I found that having the usb receiver plugged in on my macbook pro works a lot better, and I never have any issues. So I assume it has to do with line of sight, or some other connectivity issue if it is plugged in behind the monitor, rather than within sight through my macbook.Has anyone encountered the following issues with the LG 34WK95U and M1 MacBook Air (connected via USB-C Thunderbolt 3 cable)? Just bought one and scoured the Internet forums without much luck:
1. Mouse & keyboard lag: I have MX Master 3 Mouse & Keys, connected to unifying USB receiver which is plugged into to the USB hub on the back of the monitor. 99% of the time they work perfectly, but 1% of the time there is severe mouse & keyboard lag. This was not an issue with the ASUS MX38VC or the Samsung CRG9. I have plugged the unifying USB receiver to the other USB hub port on the monitor without success. Pairing the mouse & keys to to the MBA via bluetooth directly also gives lag, but this has been a longstanding known issue (which is why I've been using the receiver).
2. Volume & brightness control: The Mac volume & brightness buttons work 50% of the time natively. The other 50% of the time pressing them does nothing (e.g. no on screen display changes). I have installed the latest LG OnScreen Control app and updated the monitor firmware to the latest version without success. I also tried the 3rd party 'MonitorControl' app without success.
This thread is one of the most recent and extensive discussions on the monitor & M1 Macs I can find. I'd really appreciate if anyone would be offer any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Sounds like these issues might not be fixable. I'll probably return this monitor now.1. 2. I haven't tried using any control apps. Since the controls doesn't work through my keyboard, and I have to control through the monitor. So I've given up, and just live with a fixed brightness and not having sound through it. Additionally, it seems that sound doesn't always work, even connected through thunderbolt from my macbook. I think that was one of the great things about using the ultrafine LG monitors, everything was very integrated with macs, including controls.
Have you tried monitor control? It has been updated to work with the m1 macs. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Sounds like these issues might not be fixable. I'll probably return this monitor now.
Great advice, thanks!Have you tried monitor control? It has been updated to work with the m1 macs.

Has anyone tried MonitorControl with this monitor? Mine is connected through thunderbolt, and I can't control the brightness or volume through this app.Great advice, thanks!
This is a M1 problemWorks fine for me and has been since a year. Though admittedly I’m on intel hardware, which might make a difference.
odd. I have an intel macpro too. When I run the diagnostic on Lunar, it says there is no response from DDC - is there some setting that I need to set to allow software control?Works fine for me and has been since a year. Though admittedly I’m on intel hardware, which might make a difference.
M1 macmini with big sur and lg34wk95u connected with tb, all is working as expected here.Has anyone tried MonitorControl with this monitor? Mine is connected through thunderbolt, and I can't control the brightness or volume through this app.
Wait. Even scaling works? I thought that’s impossible on m1 Macs?M1 macmini with big sur and lg34wk95u connected with tb, all is working as expected here.
I wish! I was just talking about the monitorcontrol app that can change volume and brightness from the keyboard. SorryWait. Even scaling works? I thought that’s impossible on m1 Macs?
I currently do not have access to my monitor to do some further testing. I’m using thunderbolt though, which to my knowledge is limited to DP1.2 anyways (with my generation MacBook at least).odd. No it’s not. What is your unsupported however are resolutions beyond 6144 in width. This is why the highest available retina resolution available is 3072, which is exactly half, as macOS’ retina mode treats 4 physical pixels (2x2) as one “retina” pixel (simplified).Wait. So you can use the screen at 200% and it’s only the fractional scaling that doesn’t work? ThanksNo it’s not. What is your unsupported however are resolutions beyond 6144 in width. Thus the native resolution can be applied as it spreads below the M1 Macs maximum, though it would be rather small while not being retina.
The screen only has issues with M1 Macs. This is also the reason why I sold my M1 and switched back to an Intel i9. Now I'm waiting for the M1X which will hopfeully not a beta product anymoreWorks fine for me and has been since a year. Though admittedly I’m on intel hardware, which might make a difference.
Yes I can. And as mentioned fractional scaling does work. There are just less resolutions available than on intel machines. Native 200% retina resolution (2560x1080) does work - though it looks comically large for my taste (just like 4K on 27”). While on intel machines fractional scaled resolutions up to 3360@200% in width are available (natively, and 3840@200% via additional tools) M1 machines max out at 3072@200%.So you can use the screen at 200% and it’s only the fractional scaling that doesn’t work? Thanks
I only have the monitor, but no M1 Mac, so I couldn't try it myself. (but I'm of course interested in the situation).Yes I can. And as mentioned fractional scaling does work.
