It’s Windows but shouldn’t make a difference. It’s unusable at 100% imo

Thanks for that.
I would still like to see a Mac as the UI will be a bit different and what I was really after was a screengrab or print screen on a pc not a photo of th r monitor. That way I can scel
It correctly in photoshop on my screen to see it in situ.

Oh sure, I can take a screenshot, too, of course. I thought it would make more sense with some context. My old MacBook Pro can’t drive the screen though, so it would be Windows only.

Screenshot would be great. I know the actual physical dimensions of the screen so if I enlarge the image to that and view at 100% then it’ll be the core team size. 👍🏼

Having said all that-I would like to get a decent 32-34 inch USB-C monitor so that I can charge my M1 Mac Air and use that single cable for display (cuts down on wires and easier to plug in and out).

I am not a professional and don't work from my monitor, just want a half decent bigger monitor to use with the M1 MacBook Air

could someone suggest any that seem to work fairly well witho it glitches?

bump

hope that helps. If you want to see a special application or something I'll see what I can do

Thats great thank you very much.

Don't suppose you have photoshop, Illustrator or Indesign as thats what I use all day everyday for work.

thanks again. Are you on the LG 34"? I was thinking of the dell 40" so same resolution/pixels but slightly bigger pixels and bigger UI at native (might still be too small). I think I may just have to be patient until a better M! chip comes out that can run higher scaled resolutions

Yes. That is the 5k2k LG

for me that’s the lowest I would go. Anything bigger wouldn’t be sharp enough anymore. This is already a stretch if you know 5K iMacs or something else with a high enough pixel density

can anyone please suggest from their experience some reliable decent 32-34 inch USB-C monitors that are fairly problem free with the M1 Mac Air.

I am not a professional and don't work from home but would like a half decent bigger screen to connect to the M1 Air im getting Friday. Prefer only USB-C so I can just use a single cable to power and display....

It seems a lot of people are reporting problems with various monitors and how well they work with the M1

I'd recommend you to get a good 27 inch 4K monitor. MacOS needs at least HiDPI mode to make text nice to read. I have a Samsung 34 inch curved screen (3440x1440). The font size is OK but text is really ugly. Now I use a 27 inch 4K screen in HiDPI mode (2560x1440) most of time. I've tested Dell U2720Q and LG 27UP850. Both are very good in color accuracy and can work with M1 MBA or MBP with 1 USB-C cable. Dell is better among the two.

would this one work? its $200 cheaper?

31 inch 4k is also a bad option for MacOS. Font rendering is horrible. Windows is perfect.

In summary, check the ppi and ensure that you are 160+ for MacOS.

3008x1269 imo is the best resolution to use this monitor at.

Text is sharp, readable, not too tiny/large. I can also have 2 windows side-by-side comfortably for productivity.

I changed the resolution and now the monitor has gone berserk. It goes totally blank for about 10s and shows the screen for a sec and goes blank again and the cycle repeats. It doesn't give me enough time to change the display settings back to default or something else.

Have to call LG support.

This was a pain to fix.

First I tried https://support.apple.com/en-au/guide/mac-help/mchlp2660/mac but it did not help.

I had to take a video of the screen, pause it when the convoluted screen was visible, look carefully where the mouse cursor was, move the mouse carefully, take another video, pause the frame and adjust again until I could navigate my way to Displays settings preference pane and click on Default after about 20 cycles.

Once I could fix the screen this way, I installed LG's OnScreen Control and ensured that the monitor has the latest firmware.

Then switched DisplayPort to 1.4 from 1.2 in the monitor settings.

After that, I did not dare to change the resolution to Scaled with the fear that it would make the monitor back to the unsupported resolution.

Used SwitchResX to select 3008x1269 and can finally breath a sigh of relief.

That looks like a nightmare - glad you got it sorted.

Well, does it come with a new firmware or something? I still don't really understand if LG can do anything about the problems with the M1 Macs.

It works much better in comparison to the old version on my M1 MBP although it does not give me new firmware it is still worth updating. I do not need to wait 30 seconds to load the app from the menu bar...
