thanks again. Are you on the LG 34"? I was thinking of the dell 40" so same resolution/pixels but slightly bigger pixels and bigger UI at native (might still be too small). I think I may just have to be patient until a better M! chip comes out that can run higher scaled resolutions
I have the Dell 40". I'm currently driving it with my M1 Air, at 3008x1269

Looks beautiful (not QUITE as sharp as at 2560x1080, but very close) and screen elements are a pretty perfect size - for me at any rate

maxed out M1 max 14” will be here October 26th, I’ll pull my 5k2k out of storage and give this a spin and let you all know how it goes. Going to be thrilled if I can use this display again.
Great, looking forward!
If you bring good news, would be tempted to replace my hot and noisy 2018 13” MBP ahead of schedule…

I wish these old threads would die so we can have new, relevant threads about displays with the latest macOS and M1 Pro/Max machines.

Fair enough but maybe, just maybe, can we wait until we have some real info on Pro/Max machines?
There's really no "info" in 20 pages of this thread either. I would like a simple answer as to whether or not this display works, and that is no where to be found in this thread.

OMG that would be great news if it finally worked as intended!

The LG 5K2K display works on the Apple M1 Silicon.

It works at either native resolution or a maximum HiDPI resolution of 3008x1269.

It no longer works at the higher HiDPI resolution(s) of the Intel Macs.

Known issues dependant on configuration:

  1. Monitor takes a long time to resume from sleep. (Recommended to run on DP 1.4)
  2. Incorrect resolution upon wake (Resolved for macOS 15)
  3. No support for resolutions greater than 6K.

I can confirm that it takes ages for the monitor to come back up from sleep on Windows, too.

Works perfectly fine at higher res than 3008x1269 on my intel MBP. I have to use DP 1.2, anything else doesn't work.

Can confirm that all HiDPI-resolutions are available on M1 Pro! Same as on Intel-MacBook before!
Yes, I also confirm. With M1 Pro, all HiDPI resolutions are finally available!

Nice. Was getting a little worried. My Dell 49 incher works great w/ my 2019 work issued MBP. My new 14 inch M1 Max arrives in the next 2 hours.

Like it!
If we see confirmation in the days ahead that the new M1 Pro & Max machines are fully compatible with the LG 5K2K (resolutions, sleep, fan, wallpapers…), I’ll be seriously tempted to order a 14” MBP!
Now to get to the local store to see one.

This would be maybe the only reason why I would backtrack on my decision to cancel my 16 inch order. Please confirm if it’s fully compatible on the LG 5K2K! Thank you.

One note. While my Dell 49 inch monitor seems to work well, I've noticed that when I have the 14" MBP in clamshell mode (closed), the monitor sometimes refuses to wake from sleep unless I unplug and replug.

This could be due to the laptop, or perhaps the Caldigit TS3 hub that I've got it running through. Not sure yet. I'm also not sure if this happens when the computer is not in clamshell mode. I'll run some additional testing on all these scenarios and then revert here.

Wow! Can you describe how it looks and feels to use the higher res on this ultra-wide monitor?
Can confirm LG 5K2K works with 14" M1 Max running at 3840x1620 in HiDPI. Thank god.

It is actually unbelievably responsive and reminds me why I spent the last year trying to get this to work.

Pixel density is much closer to the internal display density when set to highest "More Space" setting.

I have also noticed less issues with Display on Wake and sleeping. Appears that Apple has resolved most, if not all issues with driving 4K+ monitors.
