Hey guys,
I just got myself a Mac Mini M1 and a Dell U3219Q. Tried the USB-C to USB-C, but only seem to get ypbpr. The other thing that I can't wrap my head around is not being able to use the USB hub in the monitor. Thought that USB-C/TB4 should support data. I even tried connecting the upstream USB-A cable and no-dice.

Was playing around with a HDMI-HDMI cable and don't get anything, not too sure if it's cos my cable is quite old (from the 1.4 era). but fiddling with it to my iPhone somehow got the USB-A hub to work to my Mac Mini, but haven't been able to re-activate the hub ever since.

Thinking of going HDMI-HDMI instead. Any other guys have any experience with this?

M1 Mac Mini + Dell U3421WE (34" ultrawide 3440x1440) working perfectly over usb-c-to-displayport. Colors are ypbpr.

Usb hub in the monitor is working, at least with the monitor's USB input plugged into the Mac Mini's USB-A port.

Over USB-C->USB-C, display and usb hub are working perfectly as well.

Haven't bothered with HDMI yet.

I just picked up a M1 mini and connected it to my Asus ProArt PA278QV (27" 2k 2560x1440). I tried the HDMI to HDMI first, but the monitor got intermittently blank. Via USB-C to Mini DisplayPort, no issues.

Sometimes the monitor did not wake from sleep with my old 2012 i7 mini (annoying!), but I have not had that issue with the new M1 mini so far.

My LG UHD 27UN83A 27" arrived today, and it's absolutely lovely. Amazon have it on offer as a Prime Day deal (still on) for just £329.99 - £70 off the normal price. Silly price for such an amzing monitor, and so far.....no waking from sleep or other issues with my M1 Mini. Excellent screen (though the speakers are crap), so it's almost as good as having an M1 27" iMac. Very chuffed.

I tried to add to the list but it looks like it hasn’t worked.

I’m using an LG 27UL850-W. No problems at all with both the included USB-C cable and the included HDMI cable.
Great just bought it!. Are you using the monitors USB ports? when connected through the usb - c cable? What resolution are you using it? Thank you for the answers.

Running at 4K, scaled to 1440. Connected to the Mini via the USB-C cable, and I don’t use any of the other ports in the monitor.

Guys, I'm planning to get the M1 mini, pair with either Dell U2720Q or BenQ PD2700u.

Colour accuracy is kinda important to me for my work, and those top of the line colour accurate monitor is out of my budget reach.

And the thing holding me is, seems like M1 mini will be run in ybppr mode instead of RGB with these monitor? Is the difference huge between ypbpr and rgb? Or is the latest big sur update has solve the issue? I've been long time iMac user and have 0 experience with non-Apple display in these 10 years.

Thanks

No, the difference is not that big IMO. I've been for month or two on Dell P2415Q / YPbPr and did not notice any difference after my monitor switched to RGB. Maybe for the first time when it came to RGB I just had a feeling the colors are a bit more vibrant, that's all.

Btw, have a look here and several posts after my post for possible solution: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...nts-colors-ypbpr-vs-rgb.2276345/post-29948359

Hi,

have the same combo and using a usb-c to usb-c cable. Its only ypbpr mode but do not see any difference to RGB when comparing to my intel macbook.
Also the USB hub in the monitor is working fine with my attached webcam, maybe you need to check the monitor settings.

I have a Mini incoming (next Thursday) and I am going to hook it up to a Dell U25* and a Dell U18* or Dell U20*. So I should have something to add.

@pldelisle, I just found this thread and see that I was somehow included on the wikipost for my Dell U2718Q, but that Mini was an Intel, not M1. I will be testing with an M1 Mini later this week though and can update. It does work beautifully with my M1 MBA.

Edited to add: thanks for creating this too!

Update: works perfectly with the M1 mini via usbc >dp.

Has anyone tried a BENQ EW3270U and/or Lenovo T22i-10. Not bought a mini yet, but this is what I am using on current Windows PC.

I'm using a Dell U2515H with an HDMI cable and everything is fine. I'm also using a Dell U2718Q with a USB-C to DisplayPort cable but someone else already has that covered.

Note, I had the monitor not waking up problem on the Dell U2718Q and fixed it by turning Auto Select off. This might be a general problem with Dell monitors.

Going to try this with my Dell U3219Q! It hasn't been a huge issue but occasional annoyance when it takes a while for monitor to wake up.

I'm wondering if anyone is using an M1 mini with a Samsung 40 inch UN40Ju7100f (Chroma 4:4:4 4KUHD @ 60fps over HDMI 2.0)

I keep my U2718Q on the DP setting and haven't experienced wake issues.

That's the case for me now. I think that Dell monitors ship with Auto-Select on by default. My monitor has these options:

DP
mDP
HDMI
Auto Select
Reser Input Source

Auto Select will try each port and connect to the one where it gets a signal. My guess is that it goes through sequentially instead of grabbing the signal that woke the monitor up. I think that some have reported that the monitor doesn't wake up at all and I had this happen to me. I switched the setting to DP and have had no problems at all since then.

I suppose the Energy Saving setting put hard disk to sleep when possible might possibly be a factor for some too. I keep that off.

I have that setting turned on and I didn't have any issues this morning.

I checked all of the settings on the two monitors. The Dell monitor that didn't have wake problems doesn't have the Auto Select setting that the other monitor has.

Please add the 27" LED Apple Cinema Display MC007LL/A connected by an EZ-Quest X40014 Thunderbolt 3> DisplayPort adaptor connected to a generic DisplayPort>MiniDisplayPort adaptor.

Using an M1 Mini:
Confirmed it does not work with an Apple Thunderbolt 3 > Thunderbolt 2 adaptor. This is specified on the package.

Will be trying out a recently acquired Apple Thunderbolt Display soon.

Update: got an "unexpected restart" error overnight. Appears related to TB1 external drive enclosure. Possibly related to DisplayPort. Will see how Thunderbolt does

Verified on a 16gb / 1TB M1 Mini:
The Display operates as it should, including the controls in System Preferences.
USB ports operate correctly.
FaceTime HD webcam operates correctly
Speakers operate correctly
FireWire800 port operates correctly
Ethernet operates
Both the display itself and the connected devices are reported in System Report as expected.

The Thunderbolt Display does seem to take a second or two longer to wake up than the 27" LED Cinema Display.
