So the RayCue also has the text on each port like the Satechi?! Dissapointing. Every product shot they show has it nice and clean.

Interesting to see your take on things.

Seems like every review I see of un-labeled MFF devices dings the units on not having clearly-labeled ports 🤷‍♂️

Curious if the Raycue 40Gbps model is actually using Thunderbolt 4 or USB4, since it doesn't mention either one in their product page.

I'm guessing that if they don't use the words "TB$" or "Thunderbolt" anywhere in their product page, the 40gbps version will just be usb4..?

Even if "thunderbolt" is plastered all over, it is still not a given. Like if the wording is "thunderbolt compatible" can just mean any USB4 chip.

I got mine, I installed a 2TB M.2 NVME/SATA drive and plugged the RayCue into a USB port on the back of the Mini and it powers up and works just fine. I also have a external CD/DVD/Blu-ray burner using two USB ports to power and everything works as expected. I have my HDMI cable plugged into the Mini directly though.

I like that the raycue 40gbps dock has all the ports in the back , that a plus for me , but they couldn’t make those 2 usb A ports in the back 3.0 instead of 2.0 ?

Edit
I just noticed the 40gbps version doesn’t have external power port but the 10gbps does
That’s odd

I think it has a lot to do with price. Going cheap on the ports keeps it in the wheelhouse of lots those of mac users who don't seem to have two nickels to rub together. I am hopeful OWC or someone comes up with one that is useful.

RayCue shipping dates have slipped again 🙄

Anyone receiving the 10gps version can you tell what extra ports were added?
Only the 40 gbps version got extra ports and no one knows what ports because they haven’t shipped a 40 gbps version to anyone yet. The 10 gbps version gets nothing unless you ordered an SSD with it. If you did, they’re upgrading the SSD with a higher performing version.

A few new options are showing on AliExp

A huge, sits-next-to enclosure that support 2x 3.5" and 1x M.2: https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005008224260368.html
This one is perfectly made for me
This would get rid of my 2 bay das , usb c hub , 2.5” SSD enclose , and a nvme enclosure 10gbps because I only use it for Time Machine

The only problem I see all those drives & SSD using the same port , things will slow down to a crawl when transferring files
Too many things using one port
But it would be nice to just have one thing nice and neat on my desk

I just set up my Mac mini with RayCue hub and connected my amplified speakers to the RayCue’s audio jack and got wicked AC buzzing from the speakers. Plugging the speakers into the Mac Mini’s audio jack fixed the problem. Kinda disappointed in the RayCue.
That's too bad. No problems with the audio jack on the unit I received on 1/3.
