Installed the update from the App Store.
No problems here, didn't overwrite the boot.efi files.

Same here. Updated to 10.9.5 without any issues. I guess the big leap of faith will be updating to Yosemite.

My Mac Pro 2,1 had 10.9.5 installed from the App Store, then rebooted and was stuck at the grey screen with the Apple logo. The wheel was spinning for ever, and several reboots did not fix it. Tried unplugging all peripherals but that didn’t help either. Now I’ve re-installed 10.9.0 and will run the 10.9.5 Combo Updater to see if that makes a difference. I had the script that re-installs the EFI BIOS on reboots installed, so it *should* work, especially since 10.9.5 doesn’t overwrite it.

I am stacked to 10.9.2 out of updating fear.

In your opinion should I attempt an update to 10.9.5 , combo I suppose.
And if so, should i use the script before?

Thank you

So I tried the Combo Updater, but same result. I have a sneaking suspicion that this might have something to do with the updated graphics drivers. I’m using a ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1GB VRAM). Anyone else have that setup?

I am on a Macpro 1.1 with ATI5770. My previews attempt to update to 10.9.3 failed. I am afraid to jump to 10.9.5.

Did you do step updates? ie 10.9.2 > 19.9.3 > 10.9.4 .... 10.9.5

Mine is also the Apple version 5770. I did stepped updates right until 10.9.5 hung, no problems before today. Weird. I have trawled through the log messages, but I didn’t find anything that looked like a show-stopper, but there was a lot so I might have missed it.

Also, the other harddrive I have for emergencies with 10.7.5 on it also stopped booting after I used it today. Smells like a hardware issue?

Me so silly. I didn’t try repairing the permissions before I ran the 10.9.5 update. Now that I did everything worked perfectly.

Note to self: Always repair the permissions before running an update…

OK here, delta update

I had hid the update in App Store earlier, being concerned about doing the update. But, given the positive notes, I wanted to try it.

Since you can't apparently unhide a software update in 10.9.4 (or I couldn't figure out how), I downloaded the delta 10.9.5 update, and all went fine. :)

Yes you can, but get the script posted many pages earlier. That script will automatically re-install Tiamo’s EFI-BIOS as the last thing before every reboot.

Thank you TIAMO!!

I've inherited this Mac Pro 1,1 from my advisor. Trying to revive it by adding more RAM, upgrading graphic card, and now with you help, I successfully installed the Mavericks 10.9.5, which I downloaded from App Store.

I encountered few issues, like the endless circle on the boot screen, and I first replaced the wrong boot.efi on my machine, I need to reinstall LION to get my system back again, so that I could do the second shot.

I'm trying to go through this whole stream to see if I miss something. Thank you for your work, thank you.

**Works**

THANK YOU TO TIAMO!

Anyways, I have acquired a decently working MacPro 1, 1 and after researching the net I now have a working 10.9.5 2.66ghz MacPro 2, 1 with 32gb of ram and a Radeon 7970 HD gpu card. Right before I jumped on the 10.9.5 upgrade I was worried but after installation almost everything worked except my internet once again giving me the "no hardware!" sign. The solution to this was a simple deletion of SystemConfiguration folder, a restart, and an update of the atheros airport card via .kext using Kext Utility app.
I hope this help those that needs solution to a non working wifi.

I did encounter a problem trying to do a clean install on my 3tb stripped raid configuration. I just couldn't get it to mount and a constant error of usb failure. Not sure what's causing it?

Anyone got problems with iMessages? I can't activate it since updating

Same here. I receive the error message that I need to contact iMessage support and provide the customer code given. This just since the update.

My computer also spontaneously rebooted last night--something that used to happen frequently with 10.9.3, but stopped with 10.9.4.

This is an ongoing issue since early August. I have called several times and it works for a little while after Apple Support authorizes your computer. One tech I talked to said they had gotten a memo about it recently the second time I called. The call only takes 10mins depending on wait times. Make sure you have a real Mac serial number, they will ask you for one.

The Tiamo method does not work with 10.10. I am running it using Clover r2774 but Chameleon also works.
