Found the 3 Cinema 24" setup but come on, one picture in the whole world? The owner cant be that incognito.....

This is the best computer I've ever owned - I'll probably upgrade to a newer model in 3 or 4 more years...

What about post 359, by ositosucio?

his setup is pretty awesome!!

wondering what videocards he is using?

Nice setups though!!

pretty awesome!

As an owner of two large high-res monitors, I can say I'm beginning to think that three is not the best thing productivity wise, without ramping mouse sensitivities up, it takes a lot to get back and forth between displays... I'm considering switching to two portrait rotated 20"s to pair to my 30" instead.

Glossy display

As the picture shows above, that's why I can't buy a 24" Cinema Display. My desk is next to a window, so Glossy would drive me crazy. I simulated it with a glossy Macbook, and the reflection is simply unbearable. It's a pity because I like how glossy makes the colors pop, and the Cinema Display is beautiful...

I do a lot of Photoshop, particularly color-correcting images, and glossy screens are really awful in that regard, let alone the headache-causing glare...sure it makes the colors pop, but unnaturally so.

My Samsung has a Matte screen, and this is also a BIG reason why I went with a Mac Pro instead of an iMac (aside from the fact that I can't stand all-in-one computers) - Steve just didn't give me a choice, so I took what he had available...thankfully I love it :D

Yep, I went with a MacPro for the exact same reason. The window behind my desk would cause way too much glare and I need accurate colour reproduction for my designs, not "popping" colour.

I thought it was well established that glossy screens do in fact represent colours more accurately than matte variants which tend to 'dull' everything?

recently revised my lair, excuse the mess to the left, didn't finish cleaning yet. ;)

I am exceedingly humbled by the setups I've seen here. Anyway, here's my, ahem, 3rd World setup:

macpro.jpg

On the desk are a Powerbook G4 17" and Gigaware speakers (suck.) Mac Pro 2009 3.33 Quad with flopsie. The computer sits on the desk to avoid tumbleweed sized cat fur-balls on the floor. The monitor is a Dell 2209WA resting on a MSB Link D/A converter, supplied by the Mac's optical out, which runs into a tubed headphone amplifier powering AKG headphones. On the right is an old Epson 2450 flatbed film scanner for scanning large format film. The radio is a Sony world band model. The curtains are not the "in style" variety, but my mum made them, so... Anyway, thanks for viewing and for posting your great setups!

like your style, what camera took the first picture ?

Hi chedda, thanks. Both pictures were shot with my SONY sr11 camcorder. The first pic with the Century Optics MKII "Baby Death" Fisheye and the second with the wide lense. But quality is pretty bad because I've used the wrong settings.
:)

is this single or dual?

I am interested to know if the 3.33 is really going to be extremely faster than the 2.66 minus the turbo boost.

Hi Roman, no not extremely faster w.r.t. the 2.66 I upgraded. Noticeably faster? Yes, at least with the software I use like Photoshop CS3, Aperture 3 etc. Is the upgrade worth the almost $900.? Not really, but there was only one way to find out! :) I'm happy with the speed-bump anyway, but I'm probably trying to unconsciously rationalize the money spent.

Just experimenting with both 2209wa's in portrait mode to see if it's anymore useable than the both in landscape or one in landscape and the other in portrait.

I've not noticed anyone else going with both in portrait so far. The other 3rd monitor attached to my laptop is a Dell 2007FP which is S-IPS, my favorite monitor of the three.
