Here's mine for the time being. I had to clear up most the desk to rig another shot so I thought I'd take this at the same time. I'll probably move the MP down to the floor pretty soon, it's currently blocking the Cinema Display power button.

Notes:
- I should change my wallpaper now that BSG is over
- The iPod Hi-Fi found itself a new purpose in life being the speakers for the Mac Pro. If only the juggle between headphones/digital out/internal speaker went like it should.

How about moving your cinema display a little to the left? And what is that above mac pro?

Thehe, I did that and the first thing I did when I sat back down was move it to the right again.

The box above the Mac Pro is the iPod Hi-Fi i mentioned.

pretty mac looking!!

what is to the right of the keyboard? another laptop?

awesome sett up!!

it must not get dusty in your place huh?

It's a Wacom Tablet...

Wanted to ask though, how are those speakers? I've been looking at them for a while but heard bad things!

The Altec Lansing FX-6021 is OK. The SoundSticks are a little bit better (especially the sub) but don't match my aluminum rig. ;)

Exactly my problem.. my whole set up is aluminum and i plan on getting an aluminum desk soon! so I cant have clear speakers!!

I have no idea what desk that is, but I own it as well. I got it at Office Depot about 1.5yrs ago. Not sure if that helps, but wanted to throw it out there.

I have that desk as well, Office Depot about 3 years ago. It's a decent desk, was fairly inexpensive, although the drawer kinda sucks, and because its black it shows fingerprints really bad.

Looks cool though

High Quality Shot of my set up.

Also, though not really a mac pro, if this was 1992 it would be like one. This is my commodore amiga 4000 video toaster with highflyer expander. This this can run 8 NTSC monitors :) And it has 5 hard drives, not bad for 1992 tech. I have one cause it was the first non-linear video editing computer.

Quite excellent I have that same Amiga setup. Love it!

Just my setup at home. Mac Pro 2.8x8 on lower right. 23" ACD and a 22" TN panel. Trying to find another 23" to match resolutions and aesthetics.

This is my 09 2.26 octo MP FCP edit suite. It just arrived last week.
The desks were free. The theatre down the street was throwing them out. They're just the right size and they have built in cable management. Perfect.
The white object underneath the MP is a rough slab of marble to help keep it cool.

8 or 4 core for editing

Hi,

New here. I'm getting very close to making a decision on a mac pro. Wondering If I should go 8 or 4 core?

I'll be editing HD video for documentary's and indie features.

Looks like B&H have the best deals I have about $4000.00 bucks to spend on Monitor and system. Looking at the Dell 22 monitor.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Tesselator: Is that a pair of LG L246WH 24" monitors? How have you found them to be?
I had a Samsung SM2433BW which arrived with lots of dead pixels, I then purchased the Dell 2709 which had bad ghosting. Im now looking at the LG L246WH and the LG W2442PA.
Thanks
Trivial

My desk goes from super mess to clean over time. About in the middle at the moment.
