My Mac Pro with the ATI card just slipped two weeks to 28th September. The Apple Online Store said that this was due to a manufacturing problem at one of the plants and that many Mac Pro orders have had to be cancelled and re-ordered to be produced at the other facility...

...has anyone else been told the same?
Not me, knock on wood.

Nope, mine hasn't slipped at all ... whew ... don't scare me linke that! ;)

I took my $90 refund from the ATI card and purchased next day delivery on my Mac Pro for $70. I believe it is well worth it ... every day without this thing is too long.

Did changing shipping change your estimated ship or anything?

Well, the rep on the phone said it would still ship out the same time or sooner but would just get here the next business day.

However, when I view my online order status it still says est ship 21 Sep est arrival 28 Sep. It shows the extra $68 charge for shipping but still says my delivery method is "Standard"

Besides that, I got charged sales tax on my shipping fee.

I think I should call them and see what is going on.

I ordered my system and it has still not came yet, but at the time of placing the order the x1900xt was a $350 upgrade. Today that same upgrade is $250, I decided to call them up and the Apple person I spoke with was able to adjust my price by crediting me $100 to compensate for the difference in price while still being able to hold my place in line by not placing a new order.

What did you tell them that prompted them to upgrade your shipping? Or did you apply the discount on the x1900xt to pay for upgraded shipping? It's not clear to me why they would give free upgraded shipping to some customers and not all of us.

No, he just went and spent the money that he would've had to spend on the rest of the X1900 XT if it hadn't been discounted. No special offer or anything.

I called them up after I got the e-mail telling me about the price refund and just asked them how much I had been refunded. The rep replied that I had been refunded $90. So, I asked her how much it would cost to upgrade to Overnight, she told me, and I told her to put it on there.

So in reality I didn't get free shipping, I just used some of my refund to pay for it and ended up with about $20 leftover.

I just got off the phone with them: apparently they charged me for overnight but forgot to apply the new shipping speed to my order

I ordered a Mac Pro on the 28th with BT and wireless and a Quadro card, and the expected ship date is Sept 5th. I also ordered a new 23" monitor and it shipped on the 29th, so I will at least get to play with it tomorrow. :)

Looks like the wireless is not delaying things too long now. I am glad the Quadro is not delaying things!

Wait, people have to actually re-order, themselves? Or does apple do it for you automatically? Cause if they cancelled it and reordered it for you, that would explain the shipping date slip, but then you'd see a "Cancelled" Mac Pro in your order page.

I can tell that my PC53000 Kingston RAM extension are perfect !
Nice system. :)

I like how you went backwards with the pics. :D Looks like you took your Pro apart to take pictures, then wrapped it back up and re-boxed it. LOL

Original Ship Date was Early September. Had the BT/Wireless option

Today, due to the price drop, I decided to change the Vid Card to the ATI 1900XT.

now ETA to my door is 10/5/06

I'm actually getting ready to pull the trigger on a Mac Pro order in the next couple of days. I was hoping the rumor of the begining of the X1900 shipments happening today was true, but it looks not to be so. :(

I'm going to need the computer in the next week or two so the extra $150 for ordering the X1900 at a later date doesn't sound so bad right now (especially with the price drop it's now only $50 more than what I was prepared to pay two days ago -and then wait).

Anyway, I was wondering if it is possible to have both the 7300 and X1900 running in the Mac Pro at the same time. I do video stuff so I could use the 7300 to power an HDTV or 3rd monitor or something. But I heard they won't work in the same box. Any truth to this?

Also, I was wondering if anyone had some opinions on a good deal on 250+GB hard drives right now.

Thanks. :)

The cheapest cost-per-gigabyte hard drive on the internet right now is this one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148140

29 cents per gigabyte. The Seagate 750GB drive is 53 cent per gig!!!!

And that's right, you can't mix Nvidia and ATI cards in the same machine.

I'm just kidding with you. Thanks for setting me straight....

But seriously... Do you put "shatterer of dreams" on your resumé? 'Cause you should.
;)

I just hope these x1900-configured systems start shipping soon so I don't have to waste $150 and end up with a card I can't use. I'm thinking the resale value of the 7300s will be pretty low since they're built for only one computer in the world. Unless they'll work flawlessly in PC systems... But still, I wouldn't expect to get more than $50 for one on ebay. Anyway, thanks for your help.
