I truely don't know what to do ... I can't take it out on the phone reps because they have nothing to do with it and only know so much. I suppose I could file a claim with BBB. But in the grand scheme of things I doubt that will do much.

I am just at a loss ... I have never had an experience this bad with Apple. Not that they are above such things ... they are a company like any other. But seriously, how long can they delay things like this??? :(

Yeah well my Mac Pro didn't show up today. I was bummed. I called fedex to see what is up and why they didn't deliver on the posted date. They told me that they do not have possesion of the Item. So i called apple and they looked and said that it has shipped but to not expect delivery until 9/22/06, i am assuming that they are using the Estimated delivery date for this information. It is weird that fedex has all the information in their systems but they still don't have the item. Ohh well, i guess that i am just going to have to wait for delivery on monday. :(

Later,
Steve

At this point they really need to compensate you somehow. I'm all about complaining over the phone until they accommodate you. -upgrade to faster shipping, give you $100 back, something.

Perhaps they've already done this. If that's the case, ask for more (x1900 upgrade for fee). If you ordered as early as the 7th or even 11th and you still haven't gotten your machine (while others who ordered at the end of August have), then they've definitely messed up their fulfillment schedule.

Remember that the phone reps are there to represent Apple. So it is 1 on 1 on a personal level, it's also you talking to the company. By applying the right amount of respectful pressure they should act on it in one way or another in order to keep the customer happy. -more than just saying, "we don't have that kind of information, but we'll let you know when it does ship." If they still don't give you a better answer than that, a report to the BBB couldn't hurt... ;)

Hope it ships soon! I feel for you.

Well, I called earlier this evening and the rep volunteered to give me $50 back and apologised profusely. I am appreciative of the incentives but just don't feel like it justifies my wait. And the loss of productivity is especially hitting me right now. I have a great multitude of video projects during this and next week ... I really could use this thing NOW!

Once I get the "we're sorry we have to delay your order" e-mail tomorrow morning, as I am sure I will, I will gear up for a long phone call with Apple ... I'll probably have to ask to talk with a manager or something.

Thanks for your encouragement and advice. With any luck I will be looking back at this situation in a short while

well i think they have missed my ship date also - supposedely 9/15 but still saying shipping soon - F-apple - im bout to make them call my credit card company and release my ***** funds and cancel this ****..... ive been waiting since aug 11th - this is ***** bs

Mine was supposed to be here 9/11 but I was able to complain and get a refund on the 11th because I didn't receive my expedited shipping and FedEx said that it hasn't been moved since the 6th, so I was able to go to a local store and pick up a system with my credit. I was told that when the system shows up to tell FedEx to send it back, the thing is that it still hasn't come.

Man, alive, I hope I don't have trouble with the shipping date.

Then again, I already feel blessed in that I almost paid $4000 for a G5 Quad with some added stuff. I know on CS2, the 2.66 is slower than the Quad, but in the days, months etc ahead, even the Rev. A machines will fare much better and this machine will have much better longevity (I hope) than the G5 since every day there is less incentive to keep the legacy machines in the fold.

I say this because my wife still uses our Powercomputing PowerCenter 120 to this day and it is 10 years old. So I keep my computer for a LOOOOOONG time....

Man Renovatio... I thought you were going to be one of the first to get theirs and you still don't have it. :( This has gotten completely ridiculous and pitiful on Apples part.

Have you checked any Apple stores or resellers around you? Maybe just get a 7300 system for now and then get the X1900 upgrade kit?

FedEx now has my MacPro

I just checked online right now and they picked up my MacPro at 6:22 PM last night. They are now Scheduled to deliver on Monday. I called FedEx to see if it was possible to pick it up at the location that it is at now. They informed me that this specific location is closed on the weekends. So now i guess the waiting game begins again. I guess that i am lucky to have the Apple shipping center so close to my House. I can't wait till monday. I do agree that apple must do something about how they prioritize their shipping. It isn't right that some people are able to order and get in in a week and some people don't get their's for months.

I hope all goes well for everyone else.

Later,
Steve :)

man i'm totally mested up, i was going to order my macpro this month, but i've been reeding hints of an rev B, so I could still wait a month or 3-4 but then i really really need one, so does anyone of u guys know if it would be wiser to wait.

i know this is kind of "off topic" but an answer would be apreciated... thx

If you have a real need now then there is no reason to wait, otherwise you would wait until you die. There will always be something new 'just around the corner'

Even 3-4 months sounds a little soon for rev b considering there are no major problems on rev a that need correction.

I'd guess we'd see a speed bump though, with Quad-Core coming out before the end of the year they'd have to.

thx for the replies, u are right about that i could wait until i die, with update allways around the corner, is it unlikely that we will see a big speedbumb in januari, or what about 8 cores, though i won't be needing that :s anyways, thanks for the answers, i guess i'll be ordering mine this month anyways

Most rev. B stuff usually speculates around Cloverton.

The problem is that Cloverton has 4 cores per chip running at 2.4 GHz, so on many applications, those machines will run slower.

What I foresee as being more likely is seeing Cloverton being used in the Xserves (as either a 4 or 8 core machine while retaining the 1U form. As well, I think the speed bumps on the Pro side will come solely on the software side.

Leopard incl. Fully 64-bit Finder
CS3
Final Cut studio updates
After Effects 8 (why again don't they offer a bundle with CS2 and AE7? or CS3 and AE8 when they debut?)

and on and on... As these apps are optimized for 64-bit, multi-threaded operations, THAT'S when the Mac Pro will really get to spread its wings.

Clovertown like Kentsfield might be marketed as an Extreme Edition version with a price tag to match making it a candidate as a build to order option in the Mac Pro and Xserve as opposed to taking those entire lines to 8 cores. I think Woodcrest is rumored to see a speed bump to 3.33GHz (Clovertown is rumored to initially top out at 2.66GHz per core). A refresh of speed bumps with a Clovertown option seems a more likely scenario for the next Mac Pro revision.

Tigerton (Q3 2007 ~summer 2007 ~WWDC 2007) is slated to be a true multi-core (quad cores in a single multi-chip module) followup to Woodcrest/Clovertown and will also use a new platform (Caneland platform comprised of Tigerton/Dunnington [followup to Tigerton] and the Clarksboro chipset). This platform will have a higher performance dedicated high-speed interconnect that gives each processor a direct pathway to the chipset and is therefore supposed to alleviate potential bottlenecks with the current front-side bus technology as the number of cores increase. Summer 2007 seems like the most ideal time when the Mac Pro will see a major overhaul to octo core across the line with Leopard and key apps being better optimized for 64-bit 4 core and higher systems.

Everything you say makes sense, Sen, but I dunno of they refresh that drastically in such a short period of time.

Then again, if they actually ship the refreshes in Aug/Sept it will have been a year, and that's about right, I guess.

Could be that I'm just so used to the PPC upgrade schedule that this Intel refresh schedule seems almost TOO fast...

Does this make sense to anyone? My e-mail from Apple says it was shipped via FedEx Ground but I payed for standard overnight ... however, my arrival date (according to Apple) is Monday. Not showing up in FedEx's system yet.

Should I assume since they shipped it Ground that it will not be here by Monday? :(
