Thats not entirely accurate. Some none BTO orders may get moved in bulk to Louisville, KY before they are separated and processed for shipment. This order usually don’t get a tracking number until later in the week.

It's explicitly accurate. Our Apple rep for Higher Education purchasing has told us we are in the same queue as normal consumers, even if we don't BTO. You won't be getting priority shipping from Louisville, KY on these when we are unable to buy 10 bog specs from anywhere without a couple of months wait. Even tried going through our local Apple Store, and they can't supply a single one to us even when the "actual" launch has happened.

Has anybody in Asia seen any status changes from "processing" yet? I expect we'll be the last to see such an update, given the shorter total delivery time. (Typically a 10-hour flight to Japan from Shenzhen, then a day or so for local delivery, barring any delays on the ground.)

Shipment via UPS showed up a couple days ago in my UPS MyChoice account but hasn't had any movement past "Departed from Facility: Shenzhen, China"

Ordered:
  • M1 Ultra with 20-core CPU, 48-core GPU
  • 64GB unified memory
  • 2TB SSD
  • Estimated: March 18 - March 22
I’ve got the exact same config except with a Max chip and estimated arrival date as you. No change since departing from Shenzhen a few days ago.

Ordered a max/64/1tb that was showing a delivery of mar 30-apr 6. Moved to preparing to ship on Saturday but no change to date yet. Should I expect this sooner since it’s in preparing to ship? Trying to determine if I will need to try and track one down at the apple store on Friday or not.

Sounds promising. Have you tried tracking by reference on UPS?

I'd imagine they've hit your card now, and shouldn't be far off being shipped, so just wait for it to arrive ? Does it matter if you have to potentially wait a week or whatever longer past Friday ?

My Studio Display has switched to "preparing to ship", my Mac Studio is still at "processing". But they did charge me already for that.

I'm in the April 6-13 group. M1 Ultra base with 4TB. I'm still in processing and doubt I will see anything before March 25th at the earliest. When I'm not on launch day, I've been fortunate to get delivery on average a week earlier than quoted. Somehow don't think this will happen this time. Does anyone in this group have anything other than processing?

April 20-27 here
ultra 1tb

i did get the usb c to thunderbolt 2 adapter for my ancient apple display already.
studio display later this year perhaps.

Yup, probably takes a few hours to unload and scan the pallets I'd imagine? Or maybe the scan is automated once it lands?
No. If your computer had been on that flight, it would have reflected in the UPS tracking page within an hour of taking off. Usually takes less time than that.

I have the same status as yours since 10:50 on 3/12. Those computers are still sitting in China. There will be multiple "departed" and "arrived" scans in Shenzhen, then a customs scan (something about the clearing agency). My MacBook went thru Korea > Anchorage > Louisville (import scan here) > Local hub a few weeks back.

Don't expect them to leave China for the US until Tuesday or more likely Wednesday afternoon. As long as our gear moves out of Shenzhen by Wednesday afternoon (here in CONUS), they should be available for delivery Friday to most locations in the US.

That is consistent with my personal experience. Once the package leaves Schenzhen and gets on a flight from nearby Hong Kong to Anchorage, it moves very fast.

We have the same dates, but mine is still processing, despite being charged already.

I’m hoping it comes earlier.

Yeah it’s weird to move to prepare to shipping this much earlier. Unless I am mistaken that means it’s built and ready to go to the pallet for shipping.

I cancelled my order. I wasn't entirely happy with my chosen BTO options and the stall in order progress kind of helped me make the decision. I'll probably try to buy one this weekend if Apple Stores get an upgraded Max version with a 1TB or 2TB.

Yeah I cancelled my original order as well. Felt like I over specced a Max with 64 gb ram and 2TB SD, pushed the price up too much for what it was. So cancelled and just went the base Ultra. Luckily didn't push the date out too much, just a week to the 4th April. But will see how close we get to that...

I think I am going to try and get a base M1 Ultra at the store on Friday and leave this as a backup unless it ships before then. After doing the math of going to 64GB/1TB on the Max it's not a lot more money for the base ultra, we have 4 Apple stores here so I would think getting a base Ultra should not be that difficult. Does anyone know what time PST they start doing in store reservations on Friday ?

Nearly same. M1 Ultra base with 2TB. Apr 6 - Apr 13. Processing.

Does anyone think Apple stores will have sufficient stock on launch day? I am considering taking a ride (the closest store to me is about an hour drive). This way I can cancel my order slated for April 8th-15th

You can call them on the day and ask. Might save you a drive if they don’t have any, or aren’t getting any until later in the day

I suggest waiting until 8am ET and trying to place a pickup order with your local store. 8am ET seems to be when the online store reflects store stock.

Shipping to hong kong, just changed to "preparing to ship"
