This arrived in Cologne, Germany at 7am (direct from HK, @F-Train)...and it hasn’t moved since. Apparently it’s on track to be delivered by the end of day tomorrow. We will see... 😄
Delivery shifted to tomorrow.

Left Germany at 5am this morning – no updates since then. Hopefully the next location is the UK. 😄

Studio Max (U.S. Delivery)
Max Options: 32 graphics cores, 64GB memory, 2TB storage

April 1: order with delivery June 27 - July 11
May 3: delivery changed to June 22 - 29
May 10: credit card payment to Apple "pending" (funds to pay Apple reserved)
May 14: "Preparing to Ship"
May 16: “Shipped”, UPS schedules delivery for May 18
May 17: credit card payment to Apple "posted" (card charged, Apple paid)

Here on the U.S. east coast, it's 8:30 a.m. UPS's tracking page still says that my Max will be delivered today between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. I'll believe this when "On the Way" changes to "Out for Delivery". UPS's "Shipment Progress" window says that my Max is still in Hong Kong; nothing about Anchorage airport, U.S. customs clearance, Louisville airport, my local airport or my local UPS distribution centre :)

This morning my bank's app shows my payment to Apple as a charge on my credit card, and says that the payment was "posted" yesterday.

Earlier today, my March 31st order showed On the Way in Louisville with a delivery date of today. About 10 minutes ago, it switched to rescheduled delivery and is showing no actual location.

I’ll keep an eye on it today, but seems likely it won’t actually get here to Texas until tomorrow at the earliest now.

Apple just put a pending charge on my card. I ordered the M1 Max 24c gpu, 64GB RAM 512GB on the 22nd of April from Italy. The order status is still "processing".
Just a small update, status is now set to "Preparing to ship". If I were to guess it will ship either tomorrow or on the 20th as Apple has reserved the hold on my card until midnight on the 20th.

Very interesting.

So in Italy there's a fixed date by which a payment hold has to be exercised or it expires. Do you have special knowledge of this, or is it something you were told when the hold was imposed? In the U.S., we aren't told about an expiry date, although one would explain why some people have seen their hold disappear to be replaced later with a new hold or, after shipping, with an actual charge. This might also be what's happening in other countries. As an example, see @Supadoopa's post just above yours.

I suspected that there might be a limit on the length of a hold, imposed either by government regulation or by the credit card companies themselves, but your's is the first post that confirms it, at least for Italy.

Re "Preparing to Ship"... My order was "Preparing to Ship" for two days, and I think that that is fairly typical.

That account is actually Norwegian as I'm a Norwegian living in Italy, and in Norway that's how we do it, I'm not sure for the rest of Europe. The bank tells me the day the hold was requested, and the expiry date. It's basically so that people can't put holds on cards indefinitely. They can choose to take payment at any point within the limit, if they fail to do so or withdraw the hold the money becomes available to me again and they would have to ask for another hold.

Well the UPS system must be bi-polar, because my Studio now says Out For Delivery today.

Thanks very much. That's sound policy. I suspect that this limit on the length of holds exists elsewhere, but customers just don't know about it. Apple's policy is that it won't charge a customer until after shipping. A limit on length of holds would explain the several cases in this thread where Apple's hold has disappeared and been revived later or, after shipping, been replaced with a full charge.

My first "shipped" notification dates back to May 13 in the morning of Paris time. I thought the aircraft had left Hong Kong on May 16. But a current ups notification tells me that it has not moved a meter since May 14. He will never be there tomorrow or this week. In fact, our belief makes us believe that when it is indicated "shipped" it is on a plane when in reality it stays in China for 5 days without moving. Maybe even more.

Have been lurking around last couple of days. I will jump in with the 32 core graphics, 64GB memory, 2TB storage group. I ordered this config on April15th. Original shipping time frame was the end of July. Moved to Jun 22 - Jun 29. Status changes to shipped on 5/16 and has shown in HK since then. Delivery per Apple is now 5/27, and per UPS 5/19 between 12:45p - 4:45p MT. Destination is Denver, CO.

Just a thought about the apparent backlog at Hong Kong International Airport...

In contrast to mainland China, Hong Kong continues to ease coronavirus measures. Yet its airport continues to be a bottleneck for Mac Studio orders, with orders regularly stuck there for 3-5 days.

Increasing manpower/productivity at the airport may not be enough to eliminate the backlog. Hong Kong is the world’s busiest cargo airport. Full productivity on the ground won’t fix the problem if there aren’t enough planes and departing flights to catch up on all the cargo in the airport’s warehouses. UPS only has so many planes, and there's also a limit to how many planes can take off from Hong Kong airport per hour. This may help explain why UPS is flying some U.S. and Canadian orders from Hong Kong to Taiwan (only 800km/480mi to the northeast) for an onward flight to Anchorage, which presumably increases UPS's costs, rather than sending them all Hong Kong > Anchorage direct.

Some overnight magic:

Cleared Import Customs
Your package has cleared customs and is on the way.
05/18/2022

Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong

Not sure whose customs that is referring to but I will assume it's about to be scanned in at Anchorage.
Delivery date is still Friday the 20th
(but it will hopefully be held at my local UPS until I can retrieve it when I am back!)

Here's a update for the Ultra folks:

Apple send me a Mail, that there was a problem with the charge of my card.
Gave them a phone call, and now there's a pending charge for tomorrow.
My guess is, that the machine is build up an ready to leave the factory by this week.

Estimated delivery is mid to end June. Let's see if it comes true.

I have news on my Ultra order. :)

First, there was a bit of drama. I got a text at 0831 this morning from my bank saying that there was a suspicious charge on my card. Guess what that was? I replied by within a few minutes that the charge was OK, but I guess it was too late. I could see on my bank's site that the charge had been applied and then reversed. I was briefly apoplectic.

I then had to wait for a morning meeting to end. I called Apple and spoke to an agent who was able to quickly charge me again to get the order back on track. I have confirmed that this charge was made on my bank's site and things should move forward now, although the Apple order status still currently shows as "processing."

I'm excited by the first update to my order - getting charged - in 67 days since my order was placed! Now, when will this thing actually ship, and then actually arrive...

Refresher on details
Apple Studio Ultra 48/64GB/2TB, ordered 3/12 via edu
Credit card charged today 5/18
Shipping etc.: TBD

Just got off the phone with UPS...

UPS tracking says both that my Max will be delivered by 3:30 p.m. this afternoon (2 hours from now) and that my Max is still in Hong Kong. I have now gone through the rigamarole of getting through to an actual human being at UPS. I was transferred to, and spoke with, four different agents. I had to provide my name and tracking number to each agent, and explain what the problem is, because UPS agents apparently know nothing about discussion with a prior agent.

The result is that UPS has confirmed that my Max is in Hong Kong and says that it has no idea when it will deliver it, for which it apologises :)

That's a bummer... But it would be hilarious if your Max showed up this afternoon after all of that. 😆 And at least yours is still ahead of mine. Good luck, it will get there pretty soon, either way.

Sounds similar to the status of my package. The label has been created, hasn't been picked up, the source address shows AI in the US (TN), and the delivery estimate is "5/18/22 11 AM - 3 PM". I'm assuming it is still in Shenzhen, China.

Literally two hours after Apple charged me for mine.😂🤣😅

Computers are an exception to B&H's liberal return policy. It won't accept return of a computer unless it is physically damaged or "defective". As a happy B&H client for many years (B&H is local for me), I would not want to get into a discussion with them about whether my Ultra is defective unless the defect was patently obvious. The attraction is that people with a B&H credit card save their state's sales tax (9% here in New York), and of course Apple's own warranty applies. But you can forget about 14 days, no questions asked.

I ordered my Max from Apple, not B&H. Same for my iPad and iPhone.

Another update: my Max was marked as delivered by UPS and Apple, and “left at my front door.” Unfortunately, that is not true as I’ve checked our front door, and both our neighbors’. So I now have an open investigation with UPS about where the package actually is.

Current mood: 🤬

Good news everyone!

I ordered my Studio Max (10/24/16, 32G, 2Tb) on April 23rd. The status on the Brazilian Apple Store was "processing" with the delivery data between June 1st and 8th. Today I got an e-mail (and checked the page) and it is on my way, probably arriving tomorrow!

I guess that Apple goods sold in Brazil are assembled here? Yay anyway!

This is interesting.

On April 28th, 9to5 Mac reported that a Foxconn factory in São Paulo had started assembling the iPhone 13. If the factory is also producing the Mac Studio, that's news that does not appear to have been reported.
