Strange that some later dates are already saying 'preparing to ship' while the early dates do not.
Mine says it will arrive 18th of march, but it's not yet 'preparing to ship'. Whatever that might mean haha.

Never thought of this! I'm planning on sticking with my Logi MX peripherals but was slightly wistful about not having touch ID and gestures. But I do have a watch.
The trackpads are really lovely, but I like my Mx master too. A trackpad with Touch ID would be the dream though, I don't really see the value in Apples keyboards, but keyboards are always subjective. Given they're the part of the machine I interact with most, I've always been happy to spend some money, but the apple offerings are pretty poor keyboards compared to Logitech, Keychron etc. in my experience/opinion

This happens sometimes, I think its due to configs being produced in bulk. If there is a popular BTO config, they may produce them all at the same time so some people get very lucky and move up the queue by many weeks.

In the UK, the big influence on the shipping time seems to be the memory. 32gb will arrive in April, but regardless of the configuration, if you move it to 64gb, the delivery estimate jumps to "10 - 12 weeks" :(
I'm sure 32gb would be more than I need, but.... FOMO and wishing to future proof the machine so it'll run for as long as the old iMac it is replacing :(

@illitrate23 Interesting. I haven't been following shipping here, but I know a guy in Canada who expects to receive a 128GB, 64-Core Ultra next Monday, March 21st.
He ordered more or less as soon as possible after the event I suppose.

The Apple Store app still says “preparing to ship” but my UPS app was updated with this shipping date.

For those interested: Apple quoted me March 18-22

Edit: Sorry guys I mixed up my months!

The same thing happened with the MBP, I imagine its to do with the chip densities and what they'd expected people to order. It highlights the problem with JIT production somewhat, however in "normal" times it would be less of an issue. COVID and proto-WW3 probably complicate things :-/

How'd you pull that one off??? Are you in California next door to Apple?
Apple ships directly from China. I ordered about 5 minutes after the event. A few minutes after I ordered, shipping dates on my same config started slipping to end of March.

Some potential bad news. The high tech manufacturing hub of Shenzhen is in a closed-loop environment starting tonight. People are to remain home and WFH. Production activity will obviously stop. I’m not sure where the Studio is made (could be Apple’s Chengdu location) but Shenzhen is a major logistics hub as well as a manufacturing hub. I’d expect delays for our Studios.

Our Studio departed from Facility in Shenzhen, so I think it should be in the middle of road of somewhere, no?

Not to mention if I am calculating time correctly it just became Monday there, so when it left Shezhen was not sealed...?

Is there any chance that Apple Stores will have stock next Friday? I think for the iPhone launches they usually do, in addition to those picking up their pre-orders. But for desktop Macs, would it most likely just be the base configuration if at all?

Normally Apple stores should have some stock. Most likely the base models. With the MacBook Pros they had the base models and one almost maxed out BTO option. We will see on Friday.

i noticed the same thing. If they can’t get me what I want, off the shelf, I think I’ll wait. My 2013 Mac Pro trashcan isn‘t fast, but it does the job. In 3m they may have announced more options.
