My 15” touch bar MBP is on the way - any consensus on the best sleeve? Leather would be great but open to anything.

Got my SF Bags WaterField Maxwell in today. Beautiful bag, thick enough to provide a little protection, magnetic closure is great.

@ Mr. West:

I like this case. Just bought a MBP nTB 13 (i7/16GB/512GB) from the UK refurb store and absolutely loving it.
I now need a case that fits snugly.

Checking the Caison on Amazon they have lots of options even though they say 11.6'' in the main title:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/CAISON-Wat...-Transformer/dp/B01BBGA7R2?tag=macr0e-21&th=1

-11"
-12"
-13"
-13.3"
-14"
-15"
-15.6"
-17"

Which size do I need for my MBP 13 nTB?

Thanks in advance!

Heads up speck hardshells for the pro's are $25 at bestbuy

Thanks for the tip! Just picked one of these up last night. The one near me had a few black and clear, no blue.

I’m wondering after all this time, what the best hard shell for this model is? No one of this type of case has stellar reviews - either they crack or the matte finish wears off. I’ve had pretty good luck with cases for my 2014 15” however.

So, long term users - any good recommendations for 13” hard shells?

Can you guys recommend a hard case for the 2017/2016 13" TB MacBook pros?

I'm trying to avoid hardshell cases and neoprene sleeves. I previously used a Booq Vyper case for my 2012 MBP, but I just want to see if there are any other options beside he Thule Gauntlet 3.0.

I actually did purchase the full body, mainly to wrap the sides/corners, but haven't ended up putting it on. I've never had any issues with wear and tear on the wrist rest or trackpad on a dozen previous MBPs so knew I would not put it on those areas and truthfully don't see any reason to cover the Touch Bar.

The material is excellent and definitely will not leave any traces or residue. It can certainly be peeled it off without any issue.

Honestly the hardest part is application. BSE cuts these things soooooo damn close to a perfect fit that it becomes a blessing and a curse. You definitely appreciate that 99.9% coverage AFTER you've got in on but during I seem to continually find myself wondering why they couldn't just leave it at 99%. You just have to keep gently checking the edges and especially the corners to make sure there is absolutely no overlap. If anything is hanging over the edge you will for sure end up hating it because once an edge or corner is catching and collection dust and pulling back there is no coming back from that.

Once I got it on and aligned I left the machine untouched for about 12 hours to make sure it adhered properly. Even after that period there were definitely a few small areas that weren't perfect and I was extremely unhappy because I hadn't noticed them during application. They weren't large air bubbles or anything but after the amount of times I removed and reapplied I assumed that I somehow messed up the tactility of the material. After another 18-24 hours though everything looked super even and dare I say almost perfect.

If you aren't specifically looking for it you can't tell I have anything on this whatsoever and for me that was the entire point of using BSE vs a 3M solution. This MBP is so badass looking I just don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to showcase it as close to naked as possible but thats just my thinking. Hope it helps you make a slightly more informed decision and good luck with the application. Be patient. Take your time. Be OCD as hell - it's worth it.

Don't mean to resurrect this but have a question here. Recently got my Best Skins Ever Matte skin for 2017 Macbook Pro, 15 inch. Full body coverage. The cutouts were terrible for me on the bottom and top. They came too "big" for the bottom and top. I did not stretch the material and the skins are not aligning correctly at all. Overlap on some screws and going past the intended bottom shell area.

I have had this on my previous macbook pro so it is not my first time aligning/installing either. Wanted to see what computer you had and if anyone else had a similar experience for 2017 Macbook Pro.

Happen to have just ordered an iPhone X matte skin from them and think that something has changed over at BSE since my post. They took FOREVER to ship and then shipped what may be the worst possible method of all time. My friend ordered the full body coverage for his 2017 MBP 15" the same evening and had an identical nightmare of shipping/tracking. Just reached out and he hasn't even attempted to install yet but will update you if his skin ends up being poorly made as well.

Please do. I have contacted customer service twice this past week to voice my thoughts and get a replacement. Have not heard back at all. Seems the customer service has gone down a bit as well since last time I ordered years ago.

Just got the icon woolenex tensaerlite case for refurb 2017 base model 15"... nice case/sleeve... a little big, though

fits the macbook pro quite well... no complaints about having too much space inside.

Issue now is it won't fit into the backpack I have... a little too big... anyone have suggestions on a compatible backpack?

I'm considering same sleeve. I also have a hard shell cover on my.mac, do you think it will fit inside the sleeve? You say it is a little big so maybe it will fit? I like a little big, sometimes I needs to add some paper inside. I don't use bag, only sleeve!

I'm not sure how much thickness the hard cover shell adds, so I cant speak to that.

When I said the sleeve was big I mean it was very long -- like adds an inch to the length of the computer

That inch, however, isn't all empty space -- its where the magnetic seal fastens. There isn't THAT much wiggle room... around a cm or so. Anyway, I'm probably going to keep it. Just need a bigger back pack to carry the case in now

Looking for a high quality shell or hard case for a MacBook Pro retina 2015 15" .. but the problem is:

  1. All the ones I can find on amazon look exactly the same but with different vendors and different prices .. I've had them before.. they're the cheap plastic manufactured without much precision or art - they crack after time, they have horrible rough edges which can cut you, and they look like they cost about £0.01 to make.
  2. Even the so called reviews and "best of" don't do a good job of reviewing. All they do is show a pic and list some obvious or meaningless statements. And they all seem to list Speck which looks exactly like the rest which look and feel as bad, and cost a quarter of the price.

I'd happily pay extra for a quality, designed product.

I've had excellent experience with Incase - their ICON sleeve is good if overpriced, and the Reform brief bag is the best bag I've ever had - but they seem to have bought these cheap nasty pieces of plastic and stamped their name on it for the hardcore (SPOT it's called) - pics show it cracks, has horrible manufacturing, and even prevents you opening the Mac more than 90 degrees.

Any ideas?

I did use an IDOO case with my previous MacBook - cheap nasty and nothing special.

I'm surprised there aren't any silicone or similar wraps?

We seem to get better choice on smartphones.

---

more detail - case needs to be thin and light so I can pit it in my incase reform brief .. it needs to keep away scratches and dirt from cafe/other tables ... I doubt such thin cases can actually prevent damage from drops as they don't have any capacity to absorb shock.. but do educate me!

What's the best case for the 2017 15" MBP?

- Cheap is good
- Thin and light as possible
- Color not important, but would prefer to see Apple logo

Main goal is to prevent scratches. Also considering a skin.

I just installed my full body BSE skin. At first, it stretched almost to the edges. When it dried after 10 hours, seemed to shrink back to it's original shape having a perfect fit. Bottom skin would have been better for me if they were cut smaller. When the MBP needs to be serviced, you cannot save the skin.

Can someone recommend a thin wool sleeve or so that is capable to charge my 2017 15 inch? I already have a Thule Attache Bag and would like a thin sleeve for additional protection while in the bag or just charging on my night table.

I know some are experiencing problems installing the Bestskinever skin. As for me, the fitment is perfect. At first, they seem to stretch all the way to the edge but once they dry, they shrink back to its original form factor leaving a perfect fit.

Here are some pictures of the BSE Matte Skin installed. I installed the full coverage except for the touchpad and touchbar. My best advice is to take your time and patiently use a rubber squeegee to push out the soap solution you use. I also used blue painters tape to cover the ports, vents, and throughout the gap between the lid and bottom case just to make sure. Took about 2.5 hours but well worth it. Like always, I also installed the Skin cutouts for the black rubber feet. This has become a routine for me whenever I buy a new MBP :)

My cutout was a manufactured defect, finally talked to BSE about it. Even out of the tube without even water or anything, just the cutout was overly big from the start. Reported to them and they sent me out a replacement. The replacement worked perfectly :)

You got the fitment perfect after a few complained so there was definitely a defect earlier on sizing wise. Where did you get the skin cutouts for the black rubber feet? Mind linking me? Thank you!

The cutouts for the black feet came with the skin. I assume that you took them off and threw them away. I have always used those cutouts even though I'm not sure if they are meant to be used.
