Hi!

I’m looking for a sleeve for my Macbook Pro 13 touchbar (2017) laptop. The most important thing is to find a sleeve that i can avoid any scratches including micro scratches.

Please help me to find the best for my laptop

Here's mine ... can you tell I like marble? :)

That's definitely overkill. For an phone yes, you are likely to drop your phone. For a MacBook, even if you drop it, the screen would not hit the ground the way it's designed to open...
Well more than protection, I was looking at them because you can make the screen anti-glare with a matte protector.

Some previous posters suggest it's a bad idea to use a case. They claim:

1. overheating, as heat is supposed to dissipate through the alu case
2. the extra weight leads to premature failure or at least loose hinges on the display

Any truth to this? I used a clear plastic case before on a 2015 mbp and noticed that over time, the fan came on more and more. Was the fan the culprit or perhaps dust build up inside the laptop?

I wouldn’t recommend the hard clip-on cases because I’ve seen reports of them causing permanent marks and scratches at the contact points. A skin is probably fine but provides only minimal/cursory protection. I’ve tended to use neoprene sleeves and a laptop bag.

Thanks to whomever suggested a Surface Pro sleeve for a 13” MacBook Pro. I got a Jack Spade Surface Pro 4 sleeve for half price at the Microsoft shop in Sydney. It feels and looks really good. Fit is perfect, unlike those for the older retina pros with USB-A. It’s very well padded, has a nice grip and a small front pocket. The zips look quality and I don't expect it to fall apart any time soon. It's also rather stylish compared to most of the ugly sleeve I’ve seen.

I can’t believe that after 2 years of the 2016 USB-C models it’s so hard to find a sleeve that’s specifically targeted to the device (yeah that’s right, I call it a device not computer lol). Is this an inflection point when you can get better accessories for Microsoft than you can for Apple laptops now?

New one I want - and it fits the 2017 15" MBP retina perfectly!

It is SO nice - now I just have to figure out how to justify the price!

This looks like a nice bag. Also it’s 35% off now. I assume it wasn’t when you posted this so if you didn’t get it looks like you have incentive to go for it now.

*update*

Unfortunately it’s sold out but doesn’t say so unless you try to add it to your cart.

Ugh... 35% off! That would have been amazing, unfortunately I missed out on that one as I did end up getting it a couple months ago now - appreciate the note though!

What accessories will you recommend to protect my 2018 MBP?
Cases, screen protectors, shells/sleeves?

Any recommendations for a good laptop bag to travel with?

I currently have this one for my 13" MacBook Pro, it's a good size but gets a bit tight (I also travel with a rats nest of cables, a DJI Spark drone (in its foam case), iPad and noise canceling headphones (also in a case)). It's also maybe a bit awkward over the shoulder, so am thinking a backpack may be a better choice.

I had seen this one, which I like the look of, but worried about its size since it also fits the 15". I'm not planning to get a bigger laptop, so would ideally like to avoid too much bulk, but have a bit more space and/or organization.

Mainly thinking I'll want to use it while traveling, usually in cities rather than rainforests, so style is more important than crazy weatherproofing.

Lowepro Viewpoint BP250?

Has a seperate storage compartment for drones, cables, etc. Thin profile so not huge either. Also comes with a built in weather shield you can pull up from the bottom.

I've always used the hard shells but I must admit, the last couple of times I HAVE noticed small scratches when I remove them at contact points and they can be a pain if dust gets beneath them.

For people who don't use them, does the outside of the space grey laptops survive day to day usage reasonably well??

I'm really stuck on what to do with the incoming 2018 15" mbp :/

I will avoid putting the hardshell on, I may just use the snap jacket instead I think thats a soft material.
I also ordered the BestSkinsEver full coverage.

I never use a shell, I love the form factor of my MacBook and don’t want to add to the size, plus the points made by you on the scratches.

I have always used sleeves on all my Macbooks and find the finish holds up fine.

I’m curious if anyone has gotten the Apple leather sleeve. I’m considering it as I am getting $100 back from my Apple Store Barclay card.

I was looking at the Apple leather sleeve earlier today, nicely designed but too thin so rarely any protection.

I got the Inateck sleeve here for my 2018 MBP.

I used one with my Mid 2014 MBP, primarily to put in before putting it in my backpack. It's also handy as you can place the laptop on it so it sits in between the surface and your laptop.

Also ordered the ICON sleeve to see what all the fuss is about with them

I have Apple's new 15" sleeve. I will admit its pricey but the quality is top notch.

I like it too BUT I have the Moshi iGlaze Pro 15 case on my MacBook Pro. Do you think it would still fit in the leather sleeve? How tight is it? There aren’t any in stock at the stores around me so I am unable to check.

No it won't. It is extremely tight as it is.
