No offence, and fair play to the company as their margin on those must be immense.

I could imagine running a bag company in the US would be more expensive then outsourcing to China. So they have to make those margins immense to cover labor, materials, and still get some decent profits.

Edit: Beaten by other posters.

Insane purchases to me are buying specific sleeves or cases that cost almost, or more than the products they are meant to hold. To me, the case could be worth that money, but just seem absurd for my spending power to even consider it. To people who see buying an iPad like buying regular clothes, it then wouldn't matter that much.

I'll let people who seem to know the cost price of many things decide whether the margin for these are huge or not.

Like these.

I bought the latest Incase sleeve and the fitment for the old MacBook Pro is crap on the new one. I'm going to return it and wait for something better.

Some people will hate it, but I think it looks fine. I can certainly appreciate the effort that went into it, and homemade crafts like this seem to be a sadly dying art.

My biggest concern is how much static electricity would this generate in the wintertime (or other dry weather conditions)? Enough static electricity can kill electronics like the rMBP.

Got this from Picaso regarding cases, seems he's been sitting on the cases. I got my ship notice on 7/18 but he did not ship:

"I'm sorry for the late responds. I have been tied up working on orders. I'm very behind with my email responses. I have printed your label and made your case. I have yet to put it in the mail. Two dozen cases will get picked up Monday. Your is number 8. You were first ten to purchase my 15" case, I ensure that you will be first 10 people to receive my case. An awesome public figure placed an interest in my case and my phone and emails flooded. I lost a good day or two. Yours is ready go to, please give it a few days for it to get there. I appreciate your business and patience. Alex"

Disappointed he's been sitting on the cases. USPS does pick up for priority mail so there really is no reasonable excuse unless the cases are not actually ready. I'll see if I get a confirmation or see movement on the shipment tomorrow.

It's lined with a rubberized fabric which should serve the double purpose of insulating the computer and making the case water resistant.

What day did you order your case? I am wondering if I am in the top 10 also.

The 'awesome public figure' was Steve Wozniak according to his Facebook.

If you use the 3M carbon skin, but later remove it, does it come off clean? It doesn't leave any residue or glue?

Hey, about a page before someone said the iCarbon skins come off with no residue! :) I'm definitely getting one now. Just the bottom though.

Well this saves me having to contact him again. I also received shipment notification on 18th but still not showing any tracking info.

+2. I am also planning to do an extensive review on the etsy leather case maker Picasolab with some High Resolution Pictures to go along.

I'm having the worst luck getting a case for my MacBook. I picked the two cases that are being delayed, the other being the SFBags City Slicker. I also got my shipping notice on 7/18. Really didn't know they were still not shipped until I just saw your posts. I plan on taking high-res studio shots and doing a write-up as well.

I ordered mine on 6/28. What about you guys?

Waterfield-Cityslicker-like bag?

Like you guys, I have been searching for the perfect case/sleeve/bag for my rMPB. And to me, the Cityslicker from Waterfields at sfbags.com seems pretty much perfect. But unfortunately, it's a bit pricey (I live in Denmark, and when it arrives at the Danish airport I'll have to pay extra taxes etc.) therefore I was wondering if any of you have found alternatives? I want a bag where I can keep my MacBook of course, but also small things like my iPhone, charger, SuperDrive, external HDD and so on and so forth.

I found one alternative from Bluelounge.com (http://www.bluelounge.com/products/bags/sleeve/) but it lacks a handle. Other then that, it's the right case/sleeve/bag for me.

Any luck?
Thanks in advance, it's a great thread :)

I'd put the value at least $80, given the high-quality materials and workmanship.

On the other hand, you could say that a cheaper, lower-quality, $50-$60 bag is "good enough" for many people.

Ur paying for Made in USA. Like I did with Colcasac;)

I got a message from Alex indicating that there was a delay and that he had sent the cases for laser engraving over the weekend and expect them back tomorrow and be able to ship soon after.

yeah, he must be really backed up considering he hasn't emailed me back about any of my requests to see my name in Myriad Pro :)apple: font, 1 of 2 fonts that he offers). that's what's holding me up from purchasing. i'm tempted to just go with no personalization if he doesn't respond.

any of you other picaso lab buyers request for what he calls "bold" embossing, rather than "cursive"?

Does anyone have any experience with rubberized hard cases. I know the plastic hard cases scratch the computer but what about the rubberized ones?
I'm living in South Korea so there isn't much to choose from. This one I found on eBay.

Thanks

All hard cases can collect debris, which scratch unless the case has some sort of soft lining inside. The rubberized ones are still prone to scratching if they're not rubberized on the inside.

That said, it's more important that your laptop is clean when you put it on and that you can easily take the case off for clearing debris buildup once in a while.
