I'm sure this has been mentioned before in the past 23 pages (had a quick look but not read every page), but just received my pre-order rMBP leather slip case / sleeve from Joli Originals and it is BEAUTIFUL! Such a fantastic piece of workmanship, not cheap but my do you feel the quality when you have it your hands and it fits the rMBP like a glove. I'll try and post some pictures later, but you should really give these sleeves some thought.

Cheers,
Richard.

I got a message from Alex indicating that there was a delay and that he had sent the cases for laser engraving over the weekend and expect them back tomorrow and be able to ship soon after.

I am not having mine engraved. No reason to sit on complete work.

I agree they look beautiful and I would buy one but....there is protection other than for scratching?

I've used them for my iPad and Air the last couple of years, The leather is really strong, and with the felt it's good layer of protection. it's not a hard case, but it's a lot stronger than all neoprene sleeves I've used in the past.

Last friday UPS tried to deliver my Joli MBP sleeve, but there was no one at the office to accept the package. it's out for delivery as we speak, can't wait until it's here! :)

Definitely concede that there's not a huge amount of protection, but certainly a good amount - the leather/felt combo does add a nice layer of padding but probably not enough to leave the rMBP unscathed after a drop on concrete and the top end is still exposed. But I'm pretty careful with my laptops in general and what you lose in protection you make up for in lush eye-candyness (that is a word :p).

I'll try and post pictures to do it justice later tonight.

Has anyone ordered the Booq Mamba 15" sleeve and actually received it?

It says on their site they will post from the 17th July... 8 days ago. I emailed them 3 days ago and they said they actually don't have any. I've emailed them again today, and have had no reply.

Pretty terrible for what amounts to a €50 sleeve... I'd expect to know what the schedule would be for delivery immediately, not have to keep chasing these guys to know what is going on.

My case at the moment? A jiffy bag.... not something I am overly willing to use.

Am I late to the party or has anyone else noticed two different Picasolab vendors on Etsy?

PicasoIab
PicasoLabs

Odd? Anyone that's ordered in the past few days, have you been in contact with Alex at all?

I ordered from Alex on June 27th and my case still hasn't shipped (promised to ship by July 15th when I ordered). He has been very hard to get in touch with as well (doesn't answer communications frequently at all).

Booq said their retina macbook pro products will be ready in the 'next couple of months'.

I'm in almost the same boat, except I received an electronic shipping notification on 7/19. It appears that he created the label but did not actually ship the product. His cases look nice, but his customer service is pretty unprofessional - e.g., not notifying customers that he would miss the estimated shipping date by a large margin, not providing an updated schedule, and not replying to emails.

He is telling new(er) orders to expect shipping on July 31st on his Facebook page.....

Actually, now that you mention it, there are 3 different sites:
- PicasoLab
- PicasoLabs
- PicasoIab

PicasoLab is the oldest, with the most feedback, so I'm almost certain that's a real one. Also, luckily is the one I ordered from.

PicasoIab is spelled with an "I", second most feedback, second oldest

PicasoLabs is the newest, no feedback.

I wonder what the deal is with that...

My thoughts exactly. I ordered from the original as well. It seems to be the only store with rMBP cases. The other two dont have them but has anyone received their case yet? And are the cases on the Retina product page just copies of the Air models?

He also has an ebay account and a picasolabs.com website.

I just want to make sure my money went to the actual person making the cases, thats all. I dont mind waiting!

I have seen the shipping date go from July 15 to July 20 and now up to July 31. However, for a product not made in batches, it seems unreasonable that the shipping date for orders placed on June 27 would be the same as the shipping date for orders placed on July 23.

Agreed! I am going to shoot an email and see if I get a response. Doubtful though.

I've texted him, emailed him and sent him a conversation on Etsy. Tonight I shall Facebook him. Honestly, I should have gone with the Jolie for the hassle that I think this will end up being..

I want to get the PicasoLab case, but all these posts about lack of communication is steering me the other way.
