I will give Alex (picasalab) guy some credit.. He has kept in pretty good contact with me... I'm delayed like the rest of you . 25th was my last date given.

Never responded to a single email asking for an update. Mine should have shipped July 20th so who knows when I will see it.

So I heard back from Alex N. last night over at PicasoLab. Here was his message

I'd say that's pretty fair. Even Wozniak bought one of his cases last week.

I don't mind waiting, as long as I know he's still there!

Agreed. I'm glad that things are going well for him. By all appearances, he makes a great product.

As you said, the issue is communication. If he ran out of raw materials on July 4, he could have easily notified his customers that he would miss the expected shipping date. In my case, he shipped the product 8 days late (not a big deal) while ignoring my query regarding the delay, which is the problem.

He should also learn to under-promise and over-deliver. Why he was advertising a July 20 ship date on July 16 is beyond me, considering he had yet to ship orders placed on June 27.

I'm thinking of getting a Tucano Second Skin for my new MBPr that is on its way to me.

I have one of these currently for my 2009 15" MBP, and its nice and snug, it doesn't have an edge to it like most of the new cases do, so I'm hoping it will also be nice and snug for the MBPr.

Give your feedback on the best cases to buy for the MBPr.

Specifically, whether the case is slack or snug, price, and your general rating as a user.

Picture/links would be good too!

Thanks for the reviews in advance!

I just bought a Incase 08 Neoprene Sleeve for 15-inch MacBook Pro, Black (CL57099)
I saw a different SKU on Target and BestBuy websites so I think they updated this sleeve.

I got it off Amazon for $26 + $3.99 next day shipping! (Prime)
More than $10 cheaper than the Speck website.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002408O9I/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

It fits a little loose on the rMBP but I am planning on buying the Speck SeeThru and that will make it fit a little more snug.

About the Pipetto-sleeve; they look really nice (especially for the new price), but does anyone know how snug the will fit the Retina? I mean, they're originally made for the classic MBP, right?

Tucano Second Skin Microfiber

Here is my Tucano Second Skin Microfiber sleeve.

Overall, it's very nice. I actually do leave that microfiber on the keyboard sometimes to keep it clean.

I apologize for the blurry images. I think imageshack lowers the quality or something.

THULE Attache is great

Bought a THULE Attaché for 15-inch MacBook Pro for my rMBP and it fits great! I was able to fit my rMBP, iPad 2, iPod nano, chargers for all and phone, and a magazine with room to spare. Highly recommended!

same here. have not heard from him in a very long time, after multiple emails. might be bc i haven't actually purchased one but you'd think he would try to please his prospective buyers just as much.

I was going to buy a Colcasac, but your post changed my mind. That case is exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks for posting!

One question: how's the fit? On their website, it looks like the case was designed for the cMBP, so I'm wondering if it's at all loose with the rMBP.

Well at this point, I'm about done with the unprofessional service here. After delay, I received assurance it was shipping and a ship notice last Wednesday but no actual ship as of today nor any communication from vendor. So tonight I sent the following message and if I do not receive more concrete action in next 24hrs will escalate as I outlined to him -

"Hello, I inquired last week on status of my order and was advised it would ship within next day. Thereafter, I received email shipment notice, which was on July 18th. As of today, July 24th I still do not see any shipment activity on this order tracking number nor any communication on what is happening. Needless to say, I'm very concerned and dissatisfied with where things stand. At this time I'd appreciate something more concrete on status on next steps to deliver. My alternative at this point is to file complaint with Etsy, BBB, and proceed to reverse charge via Paypal and credit card company. Please advise asap! Thank you"

I'm also waiting on an email response. My laptop might arrive before the case. Not sure why he can't just respond to emails, or at least set up an automated response if he can't keep up with the emails.

anybody can tell me if it possible to put macbook pro retina inside this backpack ?
I have the Tumi Alpha Bravo Kingsville and the dimensions will fit the rMBP (if mine ever arrives). I can't speak for this one (the Tumi Alpha Bravo Knox), but they are very similar in size (Kingsville is slightly larger I believe). Give their customer service a call, they will tell you for sure. The size of the rMBP is listed here: http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs/

For any UK customers, a question...

I've heard good things about the ColcaSac cases and have had my eye on this one for a while, it's £29.95 and delivery is £2.99.

http://www.gearzap.com/colcasac-macbook-pro-15-with-retina-sleeve-uintah.html

I'm just wondering if anyone has used this website to order from before? My rmbp should be coming today and I'll need something to protect it! :D

Many thanks!

EDIT: Thanks Adidad Addict, including the website would probably be helpful :p

Good to hear they'll be ok, think I'll order it now! :D

Which website?

I will guess you're talking about GearZap, in which case they're fine.

yes, rMBP fits

anybody can tell me if it possible to put macbook pro retina inside this backpack ?

Since it is smaller than the regular 15" MBP there is actually a little more room inside the space for it.

I received my WFbags City Slicker today!

Initial thoughts: Very well-built. Great smell. Chocolate leather is beautiful and will wear very nicely. Handle is comfortable... a little tight initially but after loading it up, the weight caused it to settle well.

Main compartment is a nice fit, and fortunately has *just* enough play/gap to let you "holster" your laptop without removing little RF dongles (such as for Wacom tablets or LG mice_).

As far as the leather flap being too tight: It's pretty tight. I loaded up the pockets with an external SSD, MagSafe (wound up as designed), and a Magic Mouse. The side with the MagSafe was a tough close, but I got it to work. It does come with a card that says this flap will stretch and settle with use. Eventually it will be just fine. So bottom line is that it will close with the big ol' power adaptor, but you'll fight it for a bit.

As a side note, the big mesh pocket is a PERFECT fit for a Wacom Intuos5 small tablet.

P.S. Ordered my PicasoLab slip on 6/28. Tracking shows it left San Jose on Monday. USPS First Class. Wish he had opted for priority with the delays. I would have had it today as well.

Ordered the Cityslicker case from Waterfield Design anyway yesterday. Just got a mail from them saying that my case would ship today if I could live the D-rings for extra $5. My original case, without the D-rings, would have been shipped August 17, so I said yes of course. Really like their service and customer care. I get almost instant response when I contact them via email. She even asked if I was sure that I also wanted the Suede Jacket, because it wouldn't fit in the Cityslicker.

Overall, a good experience and I can't wait to get my hands on the products. They are indeed pricey, so I kind off have quite high expectations.

Got mine today and it's fantastic. I have no immediate desire for a strap, but I got the D-rings just in case. They are small and out of the way, so essentially inconsequential to order. I'd suggest them to everyone.

Can we see some pics please :)
