Well I received my Picaso and hated it. The leather had a reddish brown hue. and the grains were not matched front and back.

Funny, the inside the case leather was exactly what I wanted. It looked like he stitched it inside out? Told you he was rushing.

At first I thought I would let him try again, but I did give him explicit requirements when I ordered. I wanted what was pictured. Dark brown and nice figuring in the leather.

So I decided to ask for a refund which he gave me promptly and without having to return the case. A nice gesture.

So I thought about Joli, but its too expensive. I'll stick with my OGIO Renegade.

you didn't take any pictures of your picaso? i'm pretty sure all of the people waiting for theirs would love to see the problems you found with yours.

Here are some fit pics of the Kuzy case from Amazon.

The last picture shows the only part of the case that doesn't fit that well, at the palm rest area on both sides of the trackpad. Other than that everything fits perfectly, the spots for the ports and the intake ports on the bottom.

SFBags CitySlicker

I just received my SFBags CitySlicker today. They delivered this as promised. Shipped Tuesday, got the unit today (Thursday). I'll post up some photos later tonight. Still playing with it. For now, I must say that the quality is fantastic (typical SFBags premium leather)

Cheers

Got mine today. From the sound of it, ZipZap, you got one in brown? I got a regular black one and it's fantastic. Quality stitching, leather looks good and matches on both sides. I'm going to give it a few days to stretch out, settle, and fit to form before saying anymore about it, though.

Which brown did you order? I think he had two browns.....a lighter one and the dark brown. I ordered the darker brown so I am very curious is seeing some pictures if you have the time!

I bought this rubberized case from ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/180931729662

Seems to be the same as Kuzy. Takes forever to arrive from China. I'm not a case or sleeve type of person, so I don't care too much if it doesn't fit 100%. I only needed a case for when I travel. This way I can quickly toss it in and out of my messenger back at the airport or in the airplane where I don't have the luxury of being super careful.

this one didn't look that bad actually... this and a regular 15" case should be enough :)

however, in the description there's pictures and text of "The Keyboard Soft Cover" - Am I being a little paranoid that the extra height of the cover is going to push on the display if any pressure is given?
There has been some mbpr showing up from factory already with pressure marks according to other threads here

thx though ^^

let's see it! :D

I'm going to give it a day or two to break in before I photograph and give my official take on it. It comes fairly stiff and flat. The "instructions" that come with it say to give it 1-3 days of storage for the leather to settle. Because of its comparatively large size for it's design, as of right now the sides bow out a bit. I can see that they will settle and "hug" the computer after a break-in.

I will say that initially the fit is good, and the quality is fantastic. It looks great.

I'm also holding off on my photos of the SFbags City Slicker so I can take pics of everything at once. I'd rather set up my product photo studio and do it all at one time. ;-)

Is there a sleeve that's as good/nice/thin as the Incase one, but fits this computer properly? I've returned two now and don't want to mess around with ones for the old models anymore.
:(

I would wait for the Incase because I like those, but I'm willing to try something else. I like the SFbags Outback one but not that it has an open end.

As you can see the leather is more reddish brown. The inside is darker. I am going to put this in the marketplace if anyone is interested.

BTW...how do I embed pictures directly in the message?

Holy crap! That is NO WHERE NEAR what was shown on the website. I will be doing the same as you if my case arrives looking like that! Good thing I opted for no engraving! That is nasty!

I'm sure the Woz didn't get a case that wasn't a spitting image of what he ordered!

Can anyone comment on how the Booq Vyper M3 for the 15 inch cMBP fits with the rMBP?

Wow, color me unimpressed. Not good at all. I still haven't seen a leather sleeve that I like, and this one is just ugh.

It's almost like it's inside-out. The black one has a red interior.

But I must say, I'm very impressed with the black. While the reddish brown is cool in its own way... if I ordered brown, I would not be satisfied.

ZipZap & Fortimir:

I am looking for a MBA 13" case and Picaso Lab ($78+$8 SH), Saddleback ($88+$6.70 SH), or one of WaterField's cases like Smart Case or SleeveCase caught my attention. So it was helpful to see two different takes on Picaso Lab so far.

It looks like Picaso Lab offers 3 main leather colors, smooth black, smooth Bordeaux (red brown) and grainy brown + different color stitching and full/half case option. And ZipZap chose the grainy brown one that came out like Bordeaux (the red brown one they sell). The leather sleeve looked surprisingly thin based on ZipZap's pictures, though. It looks like it will give zero impact protection. Obviously I'm not looking for a drop proof protection from a slim case, but to me, the leather case looks almost like a leather skin. If I wanted a thin leather skin/case, there seemed to be a cheaper option like "http://www.mintcases.com/collections/all". I don't know if Fortimir's smooth black leather will be thicker, so a comment on that would be appreciated, Fortimir.

Saddleback would probably give better impact protection since it looks thicker based on glen e's pictures, but I don't like how MBA is exposed on both sides, especially a considerable portion on one side. And I read some posters praising the Joli leather case, but that thing is seriously expensive at €69+€12 SH, which is roughly $100+ foreign transaction fee for me... Well... I may end up ordering a waterfield case after all.

these will be coming out. expensive for plastic but... shazam!

Oh I like that hard case! But it looks like it will be significantly thicker than the speck case, and may not fit too well in my Brain Cell sleeve. I'm hoping the speck case will be thin enough to fit with a bit of adjustment to the strap in my Brain Cell. Haven't even gotten my Brain Cell yet, has been shipped and will be here on wednesday.

that is way to reddish brown... I will not be happy if mine turns out like that. Yes I ordered the dark brown one as well.

as mentioned earlier.. that edge does not look solid at all, like the youtube pencil test.. worried now
