Thule

What about the Thule (pronounced Toolee) Gauntlet for the MacBook Pro? It looks sleek yet durable and it's made in Sweden which shows the build quality is superb. I own other products of theirs and they're great. Check it out and give feedback. Debating between it, the incase neoprene slim sleeve, and the incase deluxe leather sleeve

Finally received the Booq Mamba 15" sleeve.... and this thing is so snug!

Definitely worth the wait... I can finally throw away the jiffy bag I've been using.

FYI.... there is absolutely no movement inside the sleeve, and it feels like it has a nice firm 4-6mm padding on each side. the inside has some kind of faux fur to make sure it doesnt scratch. I was worried about the zip, but it seems cleverly stitched so the inside closes infront of the zip so it should never make contact.

I wanted a sleeve that didn’t scream "im a laptop steel me" that has a casual non office look, that’s padded and a tight fit, I came across the "Cushcase", very happy with it, super soft inside, padded and a funky corduroy look.

Only downside is the amount of people that have asked if its been made out of my Dad's trousers!

For the laptop I have applied a clear skin from bestskins ever - combination of both keep the laptop very well protected.

Post some pics please! How much protection does it provide?

I posted some photos online for you.
http://www.ryanteets.com/p583936935

I like this backpack because it is wide at the bottom and slim at the top. As you can see there is enough room to put my Canon DSLR 5DIII with a 50mmL lens either on it's side or on the back and still have all my stuff and rMBP inside.

The top of the rMBP is exposed and you do have to be careful to not scratch it on the metal zippers when putting it in and out. There is enough room for an iPad or several magazines to go in the same slot as the rMBP.

There is a perfectly sized inner pocket for the magic mouse. And a large inside pocket that is nice for keeping a small camera or other items you don't want in the main area.

The middle outside bottom pocket is perfect for the rMBP AC adapter. The 2 side pockets hold a ton of stuff. I use one for all my wires and connection cables, the other for a small camera and charger, my instant coffee, mints etc. Easily large enough for a portable hard drive.

There are also 2 slim pockets in the middle for business cards, pens, keys and small stuff.

Also the padded shoulder straps are curved for a nice natural fit.

I love it and think it is worth the money.

Thank you very much. i have the same rmbp + canon DSLR (400d)+ and the all equipments, and i think that the backpack will be Enough for Them.

Just wanted to report my findings....

I decided on a sleeve and screen protector/keyboard cover for my retina, along with a new backpack for class.

I decided on the...

Targus League Backpack
Radtech ScreenSavrz
Radtech Sleevz

The ScreenSavrz, which for the people who don't know is a keyboard cover which shields your retina from small pressure spots when laptop is closed, is fantastic. It also doubles as a cleaner. The soft material is great to wipe down the screen and finger prints.

The Targus League backpack is GREAT. It's an awesome upgrade from my puny Incase side satchel backpack. The laptop sleeve in the backpack is alright. Definitely will need a padded sleeve before putting it into the backpack. Regardless, the backpack has many pockets and plenty of room for a 15" laptop and a few books and binders.

Lastly, the Radtech Sleevz. I thought this sleeve had a little more padding then what I got. It is great if you have a very padded laptop bag or briefcase. The fabric is almost paper thin. It doesn't provide any padding or safety from bumps or normal use. It is merely a shield from small things that may scratch or blemish the exterior of the machine. While a great product, it wasn't for me, so I returned it and will keep looking for a nice padded snug sleeve.

If anybody knows of a nice padded sleeve that will fit the retina snug please quote and comment back. I can't seem to find a good one with good reviews (or even a review at all). I know the current incase ones "fit" the retina but as shown in this thread they are loose and do not fit the retina correctly.

Thanks!

The 15" MBP skinny sleeve fits really nicely on the rMBP tbh.

It does?
That would be great!

Do you use one on a retina MBP?
Would it be possible to post a picture of it?

My second choice would be a Joli Originals sleeve but the price is scaring me away. So it would be really great to know if the skinny sleeve would work...

Booq has told me that they're not going to update the Vyper M3 for the rMBP until late september to early oct. I need a sleeve for school, can anyone recommend me one thats somewhat rigid? Thanks

Has anyone used one of these Kuzy cases? I don't want to wait for a Speck case because I'm too worried about hurting my baby. I'd love some insight on this Kuzy case.

Got KUZY clear case today from Amazon. First take: it's not ugly because it lets the rMBP shine through. I'm not worried about a carrying case so much as just when the rMBP is sitting around the house in daily use. I'd rather drop a screwdriver on the Kuzy case than on the naked aluminum of the computer.

FIT: It's OK, not utterly perfect but close enough, snaps into place with some almost invisible tabs on case. Sometimes areas of the case seem to be not snapped in tight. You just squeeze that corner to tighten things up.

WEIGHT: I didn't weigh before and after, but the addition is nominal, i.e., you have a vague sense that it may be a little heavier. Probably a couple ounces.

FEEL: I prefer (forgive me) the feel of the plastic over the aluminum; the latter always feels like scraping fingernails on a chalkboard to me, but I think that's probably a personal problem. Plastic has a better grip to it than the aluminum, too, so when you pick it up one handed, open or closed, you have a sense of a sure grip.

HEAT: I haven't had any suggestion of increased heat from the machine, but neither have I used it for serious work for prolonged period.

OPEN: No problem fully opening or closing the MBP.

OVERALL: It's a cheap bit of protection from scrapes and dings, not terribly unattractive, doesn't make me like the rMBP any less, might help in a drop, but I can't be sure, will certainly diminish the chance of a random scratch. All ports readily accessible.

I don't like the way it snaps on rMBP like Speck and incase. Possibly, it can scratch where it snap in. If you check out hard candy case, they have a new way to do that. It encapsulates rMBP instead of snap in. A guy who design hard candy case was a head of designing hard case for Speck. You should check it out.

I definitely like the way the Hard Candy case snaps on. If they had a matte/satin clear one I'd pre-order.

The Booq Mamba 15".

I don't think it needs many photo's... I've tried to show how snug it is by taking a close up of a partially open zip.

It also has a faux fur inner. The zip itself is plastic, but the zipper is metal, but if you look at the picture, it'll never touch the actual MBPr, although on the corners it gets a bit close, so I just pull the zip away to make to it doesn't make contact.

After reading the whole thread.....very few sleeves available today purpose built for rMBP. We know a rMBP can be put into a sleeve made for MBP....but you can also put a marble inside a boxcar.

I wonder if Incase, CaseLogic, or others will ever make/market sleeves purpose built for the rMBP. Of do they see the rMBP market as too small to bother?

WaterField Designs, SFbags make purpose-built cases/bags for the rMBP.
