I just received my SFBags CitySlicker today. They delivered this as promised. Shipped Tuesday, got the unit today (Thursday). I'll post up some photos later tonight. Still playing with it. For now, I must say that the quality is fantastic (typical SFBags premium leather)

Cheers

I am still waiting to see some pictures of the ones people bought before I go ahead and get mine. Also, post a picture if you can get the charger to fit anywhere int he bag. I am very interested in that.

that is way to reddish brown... I will not be happy if mine turns out like that. Yes I ordered the dark brown one as well.

as mentioned earlier.. that edge does not look solid at all, like the youtube pencil test.. worried now

It looks like that reddish brown is actually a color option now. I'm not sure if he just sent him the bordeaux instead of the brown...

And I can assure you the edge is seriously solid. JUST like the pencil test.

I'll get pics done tomorrow or Sunday. Just been busy.

The leather sleeve looked surprisingly thin based on ZipZap's pictures, though. It looks like it will give zero impact protection.

I have no concerns here. Mine is thick as advertised and the edge is super sold. Just like in his pencil test.

My theory with ZipZap's reddish case is that he accidentally sent him the bordeaux instead of brown. That would explain why the INSIDE was brown, and not just a messed up batch. I don't think it was just a screwed up batch of brown.

This is actually all funny to me, because when I ordered mine on 6/28, black was the only option, and of course, since I had no reason to go back to his site... it came as a shock to me when people started talking about getting a brown case. And then it was even another shock when about 5 minutes ago I found out that bordeaux is actually a color option now as well. Also, I didn't know there were options for different figuring/grain looks.

He sure has stepped up his offerings in the past month.

ZipZap & Fortimir:

I am looking for a MBA 13" case and Picaso Lab ($78+$8 SH), Saddleback ($88+$6.70 SH), or one of WaterField's cases like Smart Case or SleeveCase caught my attention. So it was helpful to see two different takes on Picaso Lab so far.

It looks like Picaso Lab offers 3 main leather colors, smooth black, smooth Bordeaux (red brown) and grainy brown + different color stitching and full/half case option. And ZipZap chose the grainy brown one that came out like Bordeaux (the red brown one they sell). The leather sleeve looked surprisingly thin based on ZipZap's pictures, though. It looks like it will give zero impact protection. Obviously I'm not looking for a drop proof protection from a slim case, but to me, the leather case looks almost like a leather skin. If I wanted a thin leather skin/case, there seemed to be a cheaper option like "http://www.mintcases.com/collections/all". I don't know if Fortimir's smooth black leather will be thicker, so a comment on that would be appreciated, Fortimir.

Saddleback would probably give better impact protection since it looks thicker based on glen e's pictures, but I don't like how MBA is exposed on both sides, especially a considerable portion on one side. And I read some posters praising the Joli leather case, but that thing is seriously expensive at €69+€12 SH, which is roughly $100+ foreign transaction fee for me... Well... I may end up ordering a waterfield case after all.

I would consider joli but the price chases me away.

Actually, no.

Alex said the leather he received did not take the stain well. When I ordered I added notes and confirmed them with Alex. I wanted the dark brown figured leather as I saw in the AD.

He should not have sent me something he knew would not meet my expectations (or those of any reasonable person).

My theory, he could not get enough quality leather and used cheaper stuff. Also, he is clearly rushing and not paying attention to quality details.

He did not send me Bordeaux by mistake. And that color is not new...he offered it in a different auction when I placed my order. I was the 8th person to order a rMBP case form him.

anyone else becoming extremely impatient with the delays in shell production for the retina? i mean, ok, i get it, they couldn't be available on launch day.. but here we are, 7 weeks later, and i'm still hearing that we're going to be waiting another 1-2 months before anything is on the market. speck? incase? hello?

like, wtf? it's not some bizarre new form factor.. it's literally a fraction of a centimeter smaller than the "standard" macbook.

.6 centimeters thinner, plus the ports are different and there is no DVD drive.

You could checkout Kuzy in the interim, it has ok reviews on Amazon.

I agree that your case is a far-cry from the dark brown "alligator" look that I know you're talking about. I'm a black leather sorta guy, but if I were going brown, I'd absolutely want that heavy figuring and deep brown.

Did he offer you a replacement?

Email from Alex:

I'm ran short on leather twice this month on Black and Brown, most of the delay of making the 15" cases was simply waiting for my supplier to restock me. I'm restocked with a lighter shade of brown, the shade I use for my Ipad cases (photo attached). I should have my darker Brown back in for the month of August (in a few days).

I think the MBPr is the most beautiful piece of engineering in personal computing this decade. I'm incredibly honored that you and others think my case is a good match for the MBPr. I'm more than happy to replace ALL the Brown cases sent out with a darker Brown. Of course, I'll also absorb shipping cost if anyone decides to go with a darker Brown.

I'm not a member of MacRumors and I'm unsure how to go about posting this message. If you can help, I'd really appreciate it.

I received my Joli Sleeve in the beginning of the week, finally found some time to shoot some quick pictures with my iPhone.

It fits like a glove, It was a bit tight the first days, but it's already easier now. For my MBA I also own a Joli sleeve, that one still looks like new (after almost two years), with that one the fit was also really tight the first few days/weeks, but after that the fit is really good and if I keep that sleeve upside down the MBA still stays in.

The leather feels really good and it smells great :) Unpacking the sleeve is also a pleasure, they added a handwritten note with the sleeve.

I went for the black/red for this one as they don't make a MBP version of the brown/yellow that I have with my MBA.

Bought a Thule 15'' Attache Case, good for my rMBP and my iPad 3.

It fits perfectly and couldn't be happier with the purchase, I warmly recommend it to every rMBP or rMBP/iPad owner.

5/5 Stars for me.

I assume it was designed for a regular non retina macbook pro? Anyway, it's the sexiest case out there!!!

Has anyone used one of these Kuzy cases? I don't want to wait for a Speck case because I'm too worried about hurting my baby. I'd love some insight on this Kuzy case.

Can someone recommend a good backpack for around 50-100 dollars for a 15 inch cMBP, and some textbooks. I'm a student, and I tend to carry my entire life around with me.. so I need something with plenty of room, and padding for a laptop. Thanks!

Photos of Tumi Backpack

Do you have this bag with retina macbook ?!
if yes, can you send me a picture/s for the bag with the rmbp and the all equipments inside !?...
i asking because you know that the bag is not so cheap and i can't get one for testing or preview before purchasing.

I posted some photos online for you.
http://www.ryanteets.com/p583936935

I like this backpack because it is wide at the bottom and slim at the top. As you can see there is enough room to put my Canon DSLR 5DIII with a 50mmL lens either on it's side or on the back and still have all my stuff and rMBP inside.

The top of the rMBP is exposed and you do have to be careful to not scratch it on the metal zippers when putting it in and out. There is enough room for an iPad or several magazines to go in the same slot as the rMBP.

There is a perfectly sized inner pocket for the magic mouse. And a large inside pocket that is nice for keeping a small camera or other items you don't want in the main area.

The middle outside bottom pocket is perfect for the rMBP AC adapter. The 2 side pockets hold a ton of stuff. I use one for all my wires and connection cables, the other for a small camera and charger, my instant coffee, mints etc. Easily large enough for a portable hard drive.

There are also 2 slim pockets in the middle for business cards, pens, keys and small stuff.

Also the padded shoulder straps are curved for a nice natural fit.

I love it and think it is worth the money.

I just got this backpack and absolutely love it. Perfect size for college and if you use the coupon code that was mentioned earlier in this thread its only like $60.

Here are some pictures of the Incase Neoprene Sleeve and the Incase Neoprene Sleeve Plus. They don't make the plus version anymore I just got it off some bargain store. I got the regular one today.

Incase Neoprene Sleeve Plus
IdUpK.jpg

  • Tight fit
  • Does not slide around when shaking it
  • Lightweight
  • Sides are padded
  • Sometimes scratching noises when taking it out
  • Foam is thin
  • Ugly colors

Incase Neoprene Sleeve
LXgtm.jpg

  • Loose fit, space at top
  • Moves around when shaking it
  • Heavier than the plus version
  • Sides are bare instead of 3 support folds, there are only 2
  • Sides are not padded as much
  • Some but not much scratching noises
  • Foam is thicker than plus version
  • Normal colors

I'm not sure which one I should keep. I got both for like
$10-$12 and so I am still trying to decide. The black regular one looks great but the loose fit and less protection turns me off. The not normal but the plus one looks bad as the color scheme is horrible but the protection is great, only thing I worry about is sometimes the scratching sounds when taking the rMBP out.

I tried multiple fitments and found all of the current Incase products to be really off size. I was disappointed and returned them.

Waiting for a proper fit product.

If you order from Tumi.com, you have 30 days to return it if you do not like it and they pay the return postage. JUST DON'T ORDER THE FREE MONOGRAM BECAUSE THEN YOU CAN NOT RETURN IT FOR ANY REASON.
