I was wondering...do you think the laptop compartment would fit a rMBP with a Booq Mamba 15 sleeve on?

Also, how does the boa squeeze work for you? Could it fit a laptop (in sleeve) + a few textbooks, cords and accessories? Any issues with accessing pockets for frequent use items such as keys or pens/pencils or whatever?

I have the older version of the Boa Flow, not the squeeze so I'm not sure about the bag.

For the Mamba Courier, you won't be able to use a sleeve. it's a good snug fit. Anything besides a decal skin will probably not fit.

My mistake about the backpack!
And thanks again for confirming what I thought...still, great looking bag though! I may get it yet.

Just received my Cityslicker case from Waterfield Designs. I must say, I'm really impressed by the quality and fit of this product. I kind of had high expectations considering the price, but it surprised me. A lot have been disappointed of how much the Cityslicker will hold when it comes to accessories such as external HDD, Superdrive etc. It surprised me once again. Charger, External HDD, iPhone, cables, Superdrive and a couple of pens are what I could in the case/bag.

I'm not so amazed by by Suede Jacket, though. Yes, the fit is indeed quite perfect, but it's just a small piece of fabric and definitely not worth the $33.

Customs only charged me like $50 (and that's very cheap here in Denamrk) because Waterfield wrote on the invoice that package contained an item worth $100. My order was over $200, so that was really nice of them.

Overall a good experience buying at sfbags.com

Yeah, the suede jacket looks nice, but I really don't see why one would need it. And yeah, $33 is a little much for fake suede.

THANK YOU for this info. Saw your post while at work and went to Marshall's afterwards. Picked up the same bag (in black). Can't beat 18 bucks. I actually had the 13" version for a MacBook Air that I've sold to a friend, so this works out great as I knew exactly what kind of bag it was.

No problem. I'm glad you found one.

Hmmm, don't think it is the wisest idea to advertise this, lol. Especially if you like them...

At the beginning I though so too, but I've already seen another person advertising this, so why not...

Honestly, I don't think Customs will check this site.

I gotta say i recommend it if you got the cash, also they include a very customer friendly invoice on the post package so the customs don't "overcharge" ;)

Dear All,

Do you guys have any suggestions for a (temporarily) rubber "add on" case to protect the MBPr from scratches when going through an air-port?

In the past unfortauntely as well my MBA as my MBP are scratched on the bottom from depositing it in a plastic basket for scanning. Despite the feet's. I want to prevent this to happening again with my next travel.

I saw somewhere a black rubberized case from eBay but can't retrieve it anymore.

Thanks

Be careful how you load that case. People have reported that pressure on the rMBP lid presses the display against the keys, and that pressure is supposedly enough to leave marks on the display (it's unclear if these are physical marks, or pressure-induced display distortion).

Thanks for the tip! I will definitely look after that.

So my rubberized case from ebay came in today finally. Fit and finish is damn near perfect. Everything snaps/locks into place perfectly. It's still very slim. The keyboard skin is just whatever. It was free, so I didn't really care. I don't plan on using the case or the skin 99% of the time. Only got them for when I travel and have to take the laptop out to scan at airports. Now I can just toss this in my messenger bag quick and easy and not have to worry too much.

This looks great. Exactly what I need for traveling to prevent scratches from scanning at air-ports.

I have a question. Is the case flexible? Is the inside soft. I am afraid the hard-case scratch on the soft and sensitive aluminum.

I cant decide between waterfields CitySlicker or their Smart Case. I really want the smart case but from a economical point of view for about 50 bux more your getting a little more with the CitySlicker.. Wish the Smart Case was about $30-$40 cheaper, I'd go for it with my eyes closed!

Any recommendations? Does anyone have any experience with the Smart Case? ( I have seen the posts for the CitySlicker on here)

For me, i can't decide between CitySlicker and SleeveCase. can anyone shine a light here? excluding the fact that one costs more than the other due to the CitySlicker being 'leather.'

Appreciate any input you guys have. Thanks!

I wouldn't call the case flexible. It's not soft. The outside is rubberized, but the inside is of a candy plastic. Very thin and easily cracked if flexed too much. Similar plastic of Music CD cases. But i don't see it being hard enough to scratch the bottom of the macbook.

I went with the cityslicker. Albeit, I haven't received it yet, it should show up on monday, but it just seemed to do everything I wanted. I got the handle option and a strap as well,, so that if i don't want to carry it, I can shoulder it. Seems to have adequate room for all accessories also!

I've been reading about the booq mamba sleeve and the colcasac sleeves, but I'm still unsure as to which one to get. I know that the colcasac has polyester fur lining it, so has anyone had heat issues with it? Also, I'm a bit iffy on the booq since I'm planning on putting it in my backpack, so a top-load would be a bit easier to use. What do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure the Booq has zippers all around, but one edge, so you could orientate it for vertical loading if you want.

I agree that your case is a far-cry from the dark brown "alligator" look that I know you're talking about. I'm a black leather sorta guy, but if I were going brown, I'd absolutely want that heavy figuring and deep brown.

Did he offer you a replacement?

still waiting on your review/pics, fortimir. :D

i'm sure you've given it some time to wear in a little, right?

The CitySlicker screams man-purse. Not exactly the vibe most straight men want to give off in public.

Thinking of buying a rMBP and like you said want a more manly one (aka not that hipster or whatever) but still minimalistic. I certainly like the specs of the CitySlicker though (minus the price....price is way too high). Any ideas?

Edit: For college.

Actually, Waterfield's Travel Express is quite minimalistic and lightweight. I will likely end up with that one when I purchase my rMBP. Picaso Lab also has some awesome leather sleeves but it doesn't have straps or room for an adapter.

I as well ordered a CitySlicker, except in Black (yeah I'm boring). Glad to see that the iPad fits in the magazine sleeve, I just hope the charger won't push against the lid

Any other homophobic comments to post?

Come to think of it... why not get a bulky laptop instead of this thin, sophisticated one? I mean, really, what does that say... See?
