For everyone here who just uses a backpack and a sleeve, do you ever put a skin on your laptop? If you do what brand have you had the most luck with? I use to use an Incase shell on my old 4 year Macbook Pro and when I took the case off, it still looked brand new. On the Retina I thought about just using a clear skin, at least for the bottom (that is where the most wear and tear was for my old laptop case) and then use a sleeve/backpack combo instead of a hard shell/backpack combo before. At the moment my laptop is in an old sleeve I had for my bulky 15" MacBook Pro and I am afraid to take it anywhere because it moves around so much in there :/ I'm just trying to weight my options before school starts again this fall. I know this isn't a review, but after I make my purchase on whatever I get, I'll make sure to post back.

If you have a good backpack there is no need to have a sleeve.

Any clue on why the case manufacturers are taking this long? I would think they would have something out by now, you know for all the students and such.

Hey all

I'm wanting to get a keyboard protector for my precious rMBP that'll be arriving in a week. Moshi Clearguard seems like the most popular option, but is that really the best one out there? The fact that it isn't made out of silicone seems really neat, especially with how silicone has the tendency to attract dust and everything.

Any of you have experiences with the Clearguard that you can compare to other keyboard protectors? Please let me know!

If you're looking to save some money, i got this one and it works totally fine. It does sometimes leave finger oil on the screen when you close it (I'm not sure if the moshiguard is susceptible to this. If it doesn't, please let me know. I may make the change). The cover is slightly higher than the keys, meaning it's not COMPLETELY flush, but it definitely doesn't hinder my typing. Other than that, it does the job. Completely satisfied.

From what I've read, it doesn't do that.

Read some more reviews and comparisons, and I think I'll be going for the ClearGuard. However, Moshi themselves do not ship to Europe.
Where would you guys recommend I buy it?

I just wanted to inform everyone that was still waiting that I got my Picaso Labs Black w/ Red rMBP sleeve today. I'll have to wait until after work to post pictures and such but I'll start by saying this.

It's fantastic.

The size was surprisingly daunting, but it fits PERFECTLY in the InCase Terra Campus backpack. Like butter.

The stitching is great, the pieces of leather are fantastic quality with zero blemishes. He told me that it's a slightly more expensive matte black Napa leather that I got (and which I paid extra for) and he wanted to test it on me to see what the response was.

It's ****ing worth it. I really, really do love it.

As I said, when I get home I'll post some pictures and a full review

Be sure to buy from an authorized seller. Moshi has a list at http://www.moshimonde.com/wheretobuy.aspx.

I bought a ClearGuard from a third-party seller on Amazon. There is a scratch-off registration sticker on the packaging. When I attempted to register it on Moshi's website, the code came back as invalid. I contacted Moshi, and they said it was counterfeit. (Had the scratch-off sticker not been on the packaging, I never would have thought to register it, and I would not have known it was fake.) The seller gave me a refund and let me keep it. I have not used a genuine ClearGuard, so I do not know how it compares.

To sum up the last 30+ pages, what are the best retina macbook pro sleeves? I basically want the neoprene slim sleeve kind of sleeve but with a better fit for the retina macbook pro

Wanted to chime in.
I was looking for a back pack for my retina and that would allow me to carry some of my other gear.

I narrowed it down to the North Face Surge (Original), and Ogio Squadron II.

I ended up getting the OGIO, which was almost $40 more. It lasted about a week before the shoulder strap ripped where it meets the bag on the top side. So much for that. Just wanted to let you guys know if you were looking at it. No where near the quality of North Face.

I wanted to bring this up because i think one or two people had recommended the OGIO on this thread.
I only had the retina, and the charger and one book in the bag and it ripped.

I ended up returning it and got a black North Face Surge. Much better quality.

Still waiting for one that fits as well. Seems like they aren't in any rush to make one designed specifically for the rMBP.

I ask myself the same question. I've looked at their websites and they simply list the 15" MacBook Pro cases as being a case designed for the rMBP, which reading through this forum, isn't true.

Really slim/form-fitting sleeve for MBPr?

Hi all,

Ah I just saw that others posted that this hasn't been a priority for manufacturers. Ideally, Timbuk2 will make a sleeve specifically designed for the MBPr--been wanting to design a sleeve for this!

Looking for a really slim, totally enclosed sleeve for my MBPr as it typically travels in another bag. I don't like how a lot of these companies advertise their sleeves for the MBPr, but they are really just regular MBP sleeves and thus not form fitting.

Cityslicker has too many compartments (although it looks nice).
Just want a zippered (or fully enclosed) sleeve that is stylish (and preferably not black)....

For law school? I wouldnt carry one of those around especially if it was a Herschel. That brand seems to attract a specific crowd that I wouldn't associate law students with. I'd go with a shoulder bag from Incase or a messenger from Kenneth Cole. About equal in price, but way more professional looking.

No one around this campus has messenger bags, unless they run with a few specific scenes. Emphasis on scene. And the law school is not one of those scenes. I went here as an undergrad and I know how the law students here act. Its everything from Jansports to hi-tech looking Underarmor and Victrionix bags (which applies to the general undergrad body too). It is a Big10 school, so some of the more urban fashions at the east coast schools haven't transferred. I went for something a step up from the jansports.

Saw those on their site. Couldn't find one in a store, and it seems unnecessarily pricey considering that its the same as their Campus bag that is only $60 vs $100 for the Terra variant. The only difference I can see is the canvas and details on the seams. Is that really worth $40 more?

I ordered mine on the 20th, yours shouldn't be too far behind.

Pics are coming today/tonight, I'm at work so it's not the easiest thing right now.

I've got that bag as well! I love it. Not the most protection for the pirce but it sure does look great haha. The Picaso Lab sleeve with the rMBP fits perfectly in the laptop slot.
