I've had my Cool Bananas RainSuit case for a couple of days now, and it pretty nice for the money (28 euros).

There is a lip to protect from zip scratches:

The front pocket is big enough for A4 paper with room to spare.

Theres two fabric coated foam tubes which cushion the outer edeges of the laptop when zipped up:

After a little testing, it is indeed water repellent, staying dry on the inside:

Nice piece of mind if i'm caught out in the rain.

The only minor issue I've had so far is that sometimes the outer foam cushion doesn't line up exactly with the laptop edge after stuffing it in quickly. But I hope after a bit of using, it will hold its shape even when empty.

Wow.....that was a flashback. I used that vector during my undergrad research. If I recall, I got it to excite best at 490nm. Worked like a charm with MRSA and other biofilm research. Looks like you are having the same fun I had!

I'll find out on monday! Transfected it into human pre-adipocytes today, I'm trying to just mark them so they're easier to follow when migrating into matriderm.

Interesting! I never used MatriDerm but did use some Integra for burn/biofilm research. Are you trying to see how the recipient's skin grows with the MatriDerm after a graft or such?

Mods: This is MacBook-related for those who have been cutting their hands (skin) on the sharp unibody casing.

Currently trying find a way of properly seeding these ECMs. Dumping cells on top is all well and good, but getting them to diffuse through the structure doesn't seem to be working.

We've got a great wound healing model set up on mice, and lots of positive results showing accelerated healing with through application of decellularised matrixes alone, or in conjunction with an alograft (which doesn't engraft, but we guess some kind of paracrine effect is at work to promote edge encroachment). These (hopefully) green glowing cells should be easier to see deep in the matriderm once we isolate the factor or cell type which makes them migrate best.

Will come in real handy for treating the burn victims who tried to play games using their MBP on their legs :p

I do not recommend the clear full body skin from bestskinever, what a pain in the ass to install. You have to make the solution and have a spray, the installation was not to clear on there website for a MBPR... Any who, ill see how it goes for a while.:(

snap on cases???

Why would anyone want to put a case on their MBP that stays on while they use it???? The worst enemy of performance is heat. anything on your expensive MBP keeps heat in. The unibody of the mac is made from an awesome scratch resistance metal. I don't get it. Are you dropping your MBP while you are using it? I don't get it.

Go for a beefy protective case that will protect your baby from full on drops and bumps while in transit. If you are dropping your MBP while you're using it, I'd recommend buying something else. :D

The most protective case hands down that I've used for years is the Tom Bihn Brain Cell. They released a special one just for the MBP Retina.

It looks like there is a lot of extra room in the Macbook Pro's storage area. I'm guessing it is built to hold the old Macbook Pro. Are you worried at all that the Macbook Pro Retina isn't sitting snugly in the backpack?

Not really, it's padded very well, and it still fits my rMBP when it's in a sleeve.

Best Skin IMO

Curious.....has anyone ever used any skins? I'm thinking of going for a skin this time instead of using a speck hard case.

Anyone know of any good skins and how they hold up to scratches?? I've been looking at bodyguardz and sticker boy

I have always used Zagg Invisishield. Vey tough and allows you to grip your product easily. Can be difficult to install, but worth it. The technology is from the military. They use this product on leading edges go helicopter blades in the middle east to protect from sand damage. Also lifetime replacements. You absolutely can not scratch your device using these. Have them on everything - iPhone, iPads, MBPs and display on my $3,000 Nikon camera.

TOUGH Backpacks

I have been using http://www.maxpedition.com bags for several years now. No padding for laptop, so you will need a sleeve. Also have messenger type sling packs. LOTS of pockets. You will not wear out these mil-spec bags. I personally use the Falcon II backpack.

Anyone know if there's a similar sleeve to the incase neoprene sleeve for the 13" Macbook Air? Obviously one for a rMBP?

I've seen the similar ones from Joli Originals, but it looks like the leather sleeve doesn't give it much padding.

I'm really after a sleeve that opens from the side, rather than the top or bottom.

I have used Tucano second skins in the past, but I switched to the Joli ones a while ago (when the iPad came out and later with my MBA). If I compare it they offer more protection than the neoprene sleeves, the material also feels a lot stronger, and it looks a lot better. With a previous macbook pro I had a foofbag, but although the padding was thick it wasn't strong at all, and unlike the joli ones, very loose.

Hey everyone, finally got a chance to take some pictures. I actually burn 6 out of 10 fingers last night moving a burning truck rim off the highway (long story). Anyway, sorry if they aren't fantastic, I did what I could with 6 bandaged fingers lol

They're taken with my GNex.. it's no iphone camera thats for sure.

So as to save everyone from enormous pictures, I put up an album on imgur:

Picaso Lab Matte Black w/ Red

I personally love it. There are zero blemishes, it's super smooth, the stitching is great and I love that it's not 'machine-perfect'. The laser engraving of my name looks 100x better than it did on his site. The inside leather is very, very nice and soft and the top rim is sealed very nicely with resin. I love that it's heavy and thick. It feels expensive (and is for some). I wasn't ever too worried but having the case now it my hands I almost feel silly for second guessing it.

Easily the nicest accessory I've purchased.

how easy is it to get in and out of the sleeve?

Just ordered my Mamba sleeve for my rMBP. I have heard it's a perfect fit so I'm excited to try it out. It arrives the same day as my rMBP so it'll be a good day :)

Hey gmanist1000, you will love the pro like i did. I had to upgrade to 512 though. Are you making a review of both the case and the computer?
If you can tell me also, will the case scratch the sides of the pro like incase. my air lost its aluminum look after the zippers scratched the aluminum off and I dont want that to happen again.

Thanks

I'll review the computer on my YouTube channel, but not sure about the case. I'll probably write a quick summary here on MacRumors about the case.
