I'm back on the market for another sleeve. My pink wool sleeve that came from Berlin was too loose. I bought it on Etsy and was hoping they'd take their time with it. :(

My laptop slipped out of the sleeve as I was taking it out of my bag! (I was quick and caught it before it hit the table!)
Just reading this gave me a small heart attack! Good save!

This may be a dumb questions but for the few people who are planning on using a case like Speck and a sleeve at the same time, do you think buying a sleeve for the 15" MBP, not rMBP, would be better since the rMBP + Hard case will probably be too thick for a rMBP sleeve and similar thickness to the 15" cMBP?

I used a 13" Air with a Speck shell and an Incase sleeve for ~8 months. The fit with the shell on was very snug, but it did fit. I'd imagine the same will hold true for the rMBP. They really don't add *that* much thickness. Unless your sleeve has no give to it at all, I'd imagine it'll be fine.

I just got my Booq Mamba sleeve.

If anyone was looking for a very tight fit on their rMBP, this is my sleeve to get. The thing is super tight around the entire computer, it doesn't slide around inside the sleeve at all. The lining on the inside is great, I think it's neoprene.

Also, for those concerned with getting scratches on their computer, there is lining for the zipper that will protect the laptop, but if you are in a rush to zip it up it could possibly scratch it because the sleeve is so form fitting that the zipper is very close to the laptop.

It's a great sleeve overall and I'm happy with my purchase. Link to the case on Amazon is below:

I received my Booq Mamba Sleeve today. I must say, it is much more of a brownish color than actual black which I was not expecting, unless mine is somehow different. I haven't received my rMBP yet (been "In Transit" in Anchorage for over a day now :( ) so I can't comment on the fit of it but so far, based on the feel of it, it seems like a fine case and would protect a rMBP just fine . I was on the fence about the color and now that I've seen the black, I may return this and get the grey colored one instead.

If anyone else wants, I can post pics of it but unfortunately, all I have is my iPhone 3gs for a camera. Dualcyclone has several pictures which I left the link for below

Just like every other sleeve designed for the old shape MBP 15, they will be loose on the retina model.

You mean that those internal dimensions aren't necessarily so? Because I love Zeroshock cases. I thought that with a case on it, the rMBP would exactly match those internal dimensions.

I recently received my Waterfield Design medium Cargo Bag. I got the Taxi Indium one. I also got the Laptop sleeve to go with it.

My rMBP fits perfectly into the sleeve, I got the style without the flap (it still has a small strap to hold the computer in place.) I also got the horizontal model as it is recommended to use with the cargo bag. This way you can unzip the top of the bag lift the small tab out of the way and take the rMBP straight out of the bag. You don't need to lift a large flap out of the way.

My iPad also fits in the bag in its own sleeve, and with all the peripherals such as charging cords etc.

All this and I believe it will give maximum protection as other Waterfield Design products that I have do.

I really recommend this laptop case and bag.

I ordered the black one and I really enjoy it. It isn't completely black, it does have a brown tint to it, but it's more noticeably black than it is brown.

I love mine so far, it fits the rMBP perfectly.

After all the good reviews of the Booq Mamba, I went and ordered a black one last night! Should be here in a few days, I'll post back with a review on it, but like everyone else I will probably be satisfied :).

This is a really great thread for finding a nice bag for rmbp! I went through a few pages and decide to post my question here.
I'm looking for a sleeve for my rmbp with a pocket which would fits nicely with Apple's wireless keyboard and the magic trackpad, I browse a few commonly praised brand but only find INCASE offer one called Incase Heathered Sleeve that meets my reqs.
Incase of wondering, I often carry the wireless ketboard and the trackpad with me becasue I like to sit back in the chair and put my laptop at a distance, also the upper left corner of the keyboard on rmbp can get really hot when used for coupla hours.
Any thoughts of potential sleeve that might do?

Why would anyone want to put a case on their MBP that stays on while they use it???? The worst enemy of performance is heat. anything on your expensive MBP keeps heat in. The unibody of the mac is made from an awesome scratch resistance metal. I don't get it. Are you dropping your MBP while you are using it? I don't get it.

Go for a beefy protective case that will protect your baby from full on drops and bumps while in transit. If you are dropping your MBP while you're using it, I'd recommend buying something else. :D

The most protective case hands down that I've used for years is the Tom Bihn Brain Cell. They released a special one just for the MBP Retina.

Does anyone know if this case is waterproof?

Are TOM BIHN bags waterproof?
All of the fabrics we use are "waterproof": coated with urethane inside and treated to have a water-repellent outside. We also use YKK Aquaguard® water-repellent zippers on the exterior of bags or cover the zipper with a fabric flap to keep water out. However, seams can leak if exposed to significant weather. You can renew the water-repellent qualities of your bag with Nikwax. Be wary of other manufacturers claiming their products are "waterproof" just because the fabrics are coated. If the seams are not RF welded or heat sealed, they are probably not waterproof.

What I'm carrying: Northface Overhaul 40. It has a nice secure padded laptop storage for my rMBP and also bought a generic sleeve for additional extra protection.

I got the Outback case from SF Bags. It's really well built and has a thick lining inside, it seems like it could withstand a drop from a pretty good drop.

And I got an Abingdon Messenger Bag from J. Crew to carry it around it. It too is really well built.

Acme Skinny Sleeve?

Anyone tried out the Acme Made Skinny Sleeve on a rMBP? I'm thinking of getting one but want to know if it'll fit snug.

has anyone seen the cases for rMBPs? It is almost 2 months old, still there is no good case for it.

I noticed this.

Perhaps there's a rumor in China that they are radioactive, or there's something in the name or number that's really unlucky :D

Or, maybe they think that people who spend $3k don't have a nickel left over

Based upon all of the feedback...this thread is not really great for finding a rMBP case or sleeve. Too loose, ugly, crappy padding.

I did find a great backpack from this thread...ogio renegade, and so far its the best I've seen of those shown here. Of course, I got it with the 40% coupon as I don't think its worth the MSRP.

I've got to disagree. This thread has been fantastic for knowledge of what rMBP cases/sleeves are available, and specifically which ones to AVOID (hint: almost all of them). It's personally saved me the trouble of purchasing and returning half a dozen of these so called Retina Sleeves. The real issue is there isn't a company out there providing a sleeve worth a damn save for maybe the Booq Mamba and a few high end leather sleeves. I don't believe this thread is at fault for companies producing and marketing total garbage, but I'll bet it's saved a few hundred people from throwing money away.
