I have the Burnoaa on my 15 and my son has the BookBook on his 13. I prefer the Burnoaa it is super soft and you can type with it still in the case. Actually both of these cases allow that. This was a priority for me as I don't want to have to drag my everything out for quick access. My Burnoaa has a side pouch for storing cables, Perfection for me.
However my son loves the Bookbook, he loves the style and the look. However it has less padding then the Burnoaa.
One issue you may fret over is that the exhaust ports are blocked while using the MBP "In Case". But it hasn't been an issue for my, never has the MBP shutdown due to heat.
Oh and the Burnoaa take nine days to arrive, be advised.

Thanks for your reply! Have you experienced any thermal problems when you just close the lid and carry your mbp around in the Burnoaa while it's in its sleep state?

I've had an incase for my previous 2009 MacBook Pro 15". I notice they haven't specifically made one for the previous Retina editions, I wonder if they will actually update for this new slimmer rMBP. I love the interior but there seem to be no indication that they are making one. Anyone know of an alternative? I want a nice snugly but soft fit sleeve. I bought the "current" incase 13" one but it feels loose, feels like it would fit the non-retina cMBP instead.

----------

Incase responded to me saying that it's too soon to know if they will redesign their neoprene sleeve for the new rMBP 13" but to keep an eye on their website.

It sounds like they've got other priorities. I'll look elsewhere then.

I bought that model. For me, I think it fits fine. It's not loose like its gonna fall off all the time, just easier to remove if I need to clean it.
Thanks for the reply.
Anyone else know if the Moshi ClearGuard MB of the non-retina MacBook Pro are compatible and fits well the Retina MacBook Pro?
Thanks

Will this sleeve fit the 13" retina MBP? Has someone got experiences with this sleeve? It looks very nice :)

That looks absolutely perfect for me, but that price tag is putting me off a bit. Anyone know of something similar, but I bit lower priced?

I just got a Domke 802 for 100 dollars. it fits a r MBP 15 inch perfectly, if you put a thin sleeve it should fit just fine; a large sleeve might be a tiny squeeze or result in a slightly diagonal laptop. There is a little padding on the bottom, but not much. I really like it.

It does not look like a laptop bag (well, its not really). There is no laptop pocket in the main pocket, but it has a rear flat pocket, 2 large front pockets, and 2 small pockets on the flap. So it can hold small items/cables separate in the top pocket, plus papers in the rear, the charger with long cable in its own big pocket (which many cases can't) and still have one large pocket for various things/pens, wallet, keys, etc. I usually carry a leather or paper manila paper folder/envelope in my bag for physical documents as I don't use many. The bag can hold a laptop and a large textbook book easily. There are no pen holders/loops FYI.

It has no dedicated laptop pocket, which I like, because then I can use whatever case I like, and, if there is no laptop in it, it doubles as a camera bag, carry on, etc etc without a needless divider/pocket.

Compared to that nice hard case, the Domke looks professional enough for a shirt and tie, but might be a stretch with a suit unless you are very "hip". It does however blend in with all other levels of dress.

I would not buy this bag for protection, but as a daily, multi use bag that also hold a laptop (with sleeve) you should be fine. I wouldn't drop it; even with previous padded laptop bags I have dented laptops. The canvas will not tear, but will wear over time and still look good (but less "clean" professional more "I've been places" professional). The workmanship is fantastic; they make reporter's camera bags and are well known as high quality, but do tend to wear out after a few years of hardcore abuse (not what a student would do, but what a traveling photographer would do). If the bag is heavy, there is a super comfy big foam pad you can buy for the strap; I have it. It is very comfy, but big ands made for large loads. Its not the little foam tampon looking pad most bags have. It is also fairly slim. Heavily padded bags are too large and unwieldy for me!

The shoulder strap has rubber woven in so it won't slip; the bag has metal clips on the side to attach other Domke pods or just various items. The front clip is a little difficult to clip on and off, but thats to prevent theft/breaking/falling out; its solid. It can be removed and replaced with a carabiner with some work for people who want faster clipping. I generally leave them unclipped at work, and clip once I leave work/get home.

There are reports of the darker versions "rubbing off" on owners, but I have had multiple dark Domke bags in Southern California and the tropics and never experienced it. However, the canvas is waxed (still feels like canvas though) and I imagine a super hot summer or being left in a hot car may melt it and cause some to rub off. Again, never had a problem in 8 years of Domke bags. They do wear over time to acquire a used look. They also work well in light rains, but may absorb moisture over time if not properly cared for. You can rewax them. They are also machine washable. Its a nice alternative to leather IMO.

For anyone needing something bigger, the super satchel is a 1lb heavier but much bigger

Edit: just realized it has another flat thin pocket in front of the main compartment; might be usable for an ipad or pens and such

I am looking for a case for the 15inch Retina.

There's obviously a few choices: Speck, Incase, Kuzy, Moshi, Incipio, and Getuncommon. There may be more.

I have been reading reviews and while speck and incase are the most well known and popular, I have read plenty of negative reviews of their macbook cases. Apparently there are problems with the case scratching the computer, dust getting trapped, the case not fitting properly, the clips breaking, the case bending, and all kinds of good stuff.

Kuzy and Moshi also have terrible reviews with similar problems.

...

Is there a perfect case out there?
I also read a *lot* of reviews on the hardcase options. I pretty much ruled out the Speck and Incase cases based on the problem reports. While I noticed the Moshi problem reports, I also noted a good number of "good" reports (paying particular attention to the reasons why the case got a good or bad review).

I purchased the Moshi hard case, and I'm glad I did. The case exactly meets my needs/desires (of course, it may not meet your own personal needs/desires).

I wanted a thin hard case to protect the MBP's upper and lower case panels against scratches. I was not looking for any form of impact protection -- I have a padded laptop bag for anytime the MBP leaves the house or office. The Moshi perfectly hugs the new 15" MBP's case and the clips are nearly unnoticeable, let alone intrusive. It is also nearly invisible on the machine (the clear version) -- just a slight softening of the MBP's matte finish.

My $0.02, deposited. :D

$160 for a sleeve? imo the leather case/sleeve look doesn't do it for me on our aluminum MBPs

Completely disagree. I think the leather sleeves in general are significantly more elegant and tasteful than some of the plastic tat from Speck, or these wood effect types. The old book case is absolutely horrid. Why anyone would pay a penny for that is beyond me!

To each their own, I guess!

Don't know if it was mentioned already, but SwitchEasy also sells some sleeves for Macs. Probably getting one from them since they're my favourite iPhone case maker.
The 15" is a steal, less than $30 at Amazon and is as stylish as it can get!

The leather isn't a hard case, its a sleeve. As far as tasteful obviously its all about preference and I do fully agree regarding the faux wood and or plastic stuff. As far as the old book case, what why where when how???!?!?!?1

I love my pop quiz sleeve and use herschel backpacks and a briefcase style for work.

My principle has always been to get sleeves, not bags.

Sleeves give you an infinite variety of bags.

Same here. Got an Incase neoprene sleeve back in 2009 to use with an LLbean backpack that didn't have a dedicated laptop pocket. Then I bought a Jansport Odessey in 2011 that did come with a laptop pocket, but it's a little too big for a 13" laptop, so the sleeve makes it fit more snugly. I'm keeping the Jansport with my new rMBP, so I need a new sleeve pronto!

Any suggestions for a sleeve since Incase is slow to update? I'm in college, so $40 or less is where I'm at price-wise. I really like my Incase, so similar materials and build quality are preferred. Thanks!

Hello... I took the plunge on the moshi iglaze based on the response that you got... ordered it from amazon last night and got it this morning... i know they said that last year's model would fit the new rMBP 13... but i am happy to say that moshi did make some alterations to the iglaze.. and the one amazon is shipping right now is the newest iglaze designed for the newest rMBP. The reason I know this is because the new iglaze has 2 holes for the rMBP dual microphone holes.. this is a new feature on the latest rMBP so Moshi has indeed updated its cases!!!

Do you mean the two tiny holes next to the ear phone plug is the dual microphone holes, which is a new design of the latest MBP? If so, then my Speck Smartshell hard case I bought from Apple store 2 days ago must be new design too. It too has two cutouts for these two microphone holes. :)

Edit: Added a few pics. Not sure what type of blue is this, glossy aqua blue?

That looks really nice!! Yeah those are the two tiny holes I was referring to. Update to my Moshi iGlaze impression: Looks like Moshi added the second whole to the case for the mic but I can't say it fits 100% the way it should. It isn't that the bottom half of it feels like it's going to fall off or anything... But there is some give and it takes little to no effort for some of the fasteners to lose their grip and move around... I have a hard time explaining it... I have the same case for my 2013 MacBook Air and you can't even tell it's on there! There is ZERO give or movement and you have to use a bit of force to remove the case.... The rMBP version does not fit as perfectly. There is movement and plastic grips that go right near the track pad can be clicked off way too easily! Once that happens the entire bottom part starts to feel loose!! Never gives the impression that it's going to come off though.... Just not perfect....

How about your speck??? How is the fitment?? Price?? Any other colors??
