i also have some clicky keys, its not on all which make me think its a error? or should some keys have that plasticy click sound? some keys have normal key sound..
this is the only thing i dont like about this laptop

love typing on this one though, goes lighting fast, only dislike the click.. and inconsistency in the sound
Noticed that this maybe because the Metal in the middle is not as dense as on the outer sides.

Hi,
does anybody know what this "diagram" icon on the touch bar means? if you use the standard settings it's right next to the brightness icon.

Can't see a picture here but I assume that's the button to expand the media controls.

Trackpad question....

Just getting used to the haptic feedback/force-touch stuff. I have my trackpad set up to allow a 'right click' for context sensitive menus.

Now everywhere on the trackpad I have the two stage click...just light touch click, and the 'force' click.
Everywhere that is, apart from the bottom right hand side of the trackpad. Here there appears to be only one click, and no amount of 'force' gets it to a second one.

Is this normal behaviour, something to do with my trackpad settings or is something wrong?

Ok I was experiencing red graphics glitches in fullscreen mode (460 graphics here), since stopping using fullscreen I hadn't experienced any further issues. But today a colour picker window came up completely red :/

That's not normal behaviour mine is fine all over.

I am experiencing the occasional thing where the trackpad goes mad and does like 20 mini vibrations for no reason when right clicking!

Mine arrived today :)

Very happy so far!

The downsides (which aren't really downsides) first:
I do need some time to get used to this keyboard, but I definitely don't hate it! As for the loudness: I don't find it that horrible. My external magic keyboard sounds similar. Whats different is the type of sound it makes. And I do like the sound. So far after 2-3 hours of occasional typing I don't make that many mistakes anymore. A week or so and I'll be faster on this I suppose.

Battery life: can't really comment on this yet. My iTunes library is still copying over wifi, Spotlight is still indexing and iCloud Drive is still uploading. Did a fresh instal and SMC reset. With all of these things going on + playing Spotify + browsing safari it currently shows between 4:30 and 5:00 hours remaining at 79% health. Will keep watching this for the next 1-2 weeks, but I'm sure it will get better. While not doing all these things it did briefly show 9:30 hours which is absolutely fine for me.

I miss magsafe

Then again... I'm coming from a 7 year old MBP 15" 2008!

So the pros are obvious:
  • BATTERY LIFE! No matter how much it is, I finally have it at all :) Old machine gave me 15 min. tops!
  • The screen is amazing! My old MBP stinks when it sits next to this beauty
  • The overall build is so beautiful. Love the space grey color. It looks much better in real life than on pictures I think.
  • The size and weight is beyond what I could've imagined. This thing is visibly thinner when it's closed compared to just the bottom case of my old MBP. That's ridiculous. I do take my MBP with me almost everyday. My back will thank me for this lightweight
  • So far this thing runs really cold and really quiet. My old one feels like a volcano compared to this
  • I can see myself getting into the toucher, though not for every app. I really like the media controls and already miss them in the Spotify app. Though Im sure they will support it in the future. Need some time to adjust. So far it's not taking anything away, but offers possibility for the future
  • Plugging in from all sides and possibility to unplug USB-C from the Power-brick: Huge advantage
  • Dongle-Situation: So much overrated, for me at least. Connected my Dell U2515H via a USB-C to Displayport adapter, using an Apple USB-A Adapter for external storage (no wifi problems so far) and bought an Adapter for VGA, which is pretty much the same situation as with my old one
  • Everything feels really fast and fluid
  • The sound is surprisingly full and rich... though I won't use these speakers a lot (got external solutions)
  • Probably a lot more to be add in the future ;)

Figured it out and answered my own question here....

If, in Trackpad settings, you set the secondary click to be 'click in bottom right corner', then it does indeed disable force touch in this corner of the trackpad. Setting it to 'Click or tap with two fingers' re-enables it....

And yet another thing got stuck under a key, this time Enter. Also when i shake it I can hear something traveling inside. I'm beggining to suspect both times weren't just some crumble that got inside, but that something broke away on the inside of the keyboard (LED casing?) and is now wreaking havoc. Goddamit :F

Anybody has a good tutorial on how to lift these keys?

Ahh ok that makes sense, I don't have that enabled, I use two finger click :)

Is this the way to perform a SMC reset on the 2016 MBP's? https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201295

I think that the first time I tried the laptop booted up when I pressed Shift-Control-Option before I got the chance the press Power too, so I turned it off and did it again.

How do you guys check if it was successful? I think mine was because the screen bright was very low when I turned it back on.

Maybe you could blow compressed air. This normally helps. If it doesn't, send it back to Apple

Update from me about Battery Life:

Dropbox is now done synching. iCloud is still going.
Safari open with 4 Tabs
Mail open in the Background
Wunderlist running
Brightness about 60%
Showing about 8:50 from 100%
If I start watching a video in Safari it does down to 8:20.

Verdict: already much better than yesterday. Considering iCloud is still synching I suppose this will be better in the next few days.
How can I tell if spotlight is still running?

Only had the laptop around 18 hours, all good so far, slightly worried about the battery life, from a full 100% charge it's saying I have 3.30hrs remaining.... I've read that a SMC reset may work... is there anything else to do?

Judging your battery life by the time remaining indicator is like judging your car's economy by a live MPG counter - if you're flooring it, it'll say 10 MPG, if you're coasting it'll say 100. You best bet is just to use it, and once it gets to the final couple of percent, open Activity Monitor and check the time on battery under the Energy tab. Note this includes standby time, but is a decent approximation.

Case in point: my 'coasting' 13" Touch Bar just indicated 18 and a half hours remaining at 94% charge! :p

Kill Chrome. I know the new one is meant to be better for power, but Safari is generally superior.

Also check if you've got the keyboard brightness bug: by default the keyboard backlight is set to dim after 5 seconds of inactivity. For some reason it doesn't seem to be doing that. If yours isn't, change the setting to 10 seconds and then back to 5 again, and it should behave correctly.

The battery in the 13" Touch Bar is just under 50 watt hours. That means if you want it to last for 10 hours, you need to be using less than 5 watts on average. That's quite a big ask. An app like coconutBattery can tell you how much energy is being consumed, and is quite good for illustrating how high screen brightness and frequent app switching (e.g. using Mission Control or Exposé) causes spikes in power usage.

Personally I'm on a battery testing mission today on my 13"/i7/16GB with Touch Bar. I'm trying to make it last 10 hours with light tasks. So far I've gone for over two hours and have 84%. So far, so good. I will report back in the battery thread tonight! :p

Has anyone here worked with the previous 13" model for a few hours per day without an external screen?

I'm using it for a week now and I noticed my neck and shoulder start to hurt. Never had this with the previous model.

Could it be the difference in height?
The center of the screen is about 1cm lower than the center of the previous model.

Does anyone recognize this?

Anyone face the internet recovery error 3403F when trying to reinstall Mac OS?

Straigt out the box, this is the first thing I want to do but won't allow me. Want to fix any possible bugs with the factory build
