Are you thinking it will work better if I format with APFS? I am not using an SSD so I stayed HFS+.
You will not be presented system updates unless your Mojave installation is on an APFS formatted volume.
Are you thinking it will work better if I format with APFS? I am not using an SSD so I stayed HFS+.
Yes, it is safe, since there were no errors in creating the USB stick.

- Pre-Metal AMD video cards (Radeon HD 6xxx series and older without acceleration, Radeon HD 4xxx series and older with acceleration.)
- Pre-Metal Nvidia video cards (GeForce 5xx series and older)
- Pre-Metal Intel video cards (Intel HD Graphics 3000 and Intel HD Graphics Arrandale)
Current Issues by Hardware
- Minor Issues
- Graphics anomalies: Currently, pre-metal video cards used in Mojave will produce a weird darkish grey Menu Bar and Finder sidebar when using the light theme. In the dark theme, these anomalies are not present, while other, less obvious anomalies are present (window corners may not render properly, bottom part of dock menus may have artifacts). A workaround for graphics anomalies in light mode is to enable Reduce Transparency in System Preferences > Accessibility > Display (this might create additional side effects beside the obvious loss of transparency as some systems with pre-metal AMD graphics render the dock in dark gray).
- Built-in iSight cameras: Currently, built-in iSight cameras do not work correctly on some machines. It seems to be hit or miss, but when installing, expect your iSight camera to be non-functional.
- Trackpad (MacBook5,2 affected only). Trackpad multi-finger gestures on the MacBook5,2 not supported in Mojave. While the trackpad works and is fully usable, Mojave detects it as just a standard mouse, preventing you from changing some trackpad-oriented settings.
- Major Issues
- AMD Radeon HD 5xxx/6xxx series GPU acceleration: Currently, it is not possible to get full graphics acceleration when running Mojave on a system with a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series GPU. Mojave will be almost UNUSABLE without graphics acceleration. This includes the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro systems (MacBookPro8,2 and 8,3). If you want to enable GPU acceleration on these machines, you'll need to disable the AMD GPU (This will work on MacBook Pro 8,2 and 8,3 systems ONLY. You CANNOT disable the AMD GPU in an iMac.) Weird colors will also be produced when running Mojave with one of these video cards installed/enabled. To disable the AMD GPU on a 2011 MacBook Pro 8,2 or 8,3, follow the guide found here.
- App Store Crashing: Some users have reported crashing upon opening the App Store. This is caused by App Store videos and can be worked around by disabling video autoplay and not viewing App Store videos. This is not a fix, this is a workaround. Safari may also experience crashes with certain kinds of embedded videos.
- Early-2008 Mac Pro (MacPro3,1) GPU support: When running Mojave, you CANNOT use a newer AMD video card EVEN IF it is a Metal-compatible card and is supported in Mojave. The newer AMD drivers used in Mojave require the SSE4.2 instruction set, which the MacPro3,1 does not support. There is no way around this at this time. Your only GPU upgrade options for MacPro3,1 systems are Nvidia cards, which work perfectly fine.
- Unsupported WiFi modules in some systems. Macs that use the Broadcom BCM4321 WiFi module will not have functional WiFi when running Mojave. A fix for this is to open up your machine and install a compatible WiFi card. Machines affected include some MacPro3,1, MacBook5,2, MacBookPro4,1, iMac8,1, Macmini3,1, and MacBookAir2,1 systems. Please note that not all these machines will have an unsupported card, this is just a list of machines known to have shipped with that card in some configurations.
Installation:
- Minor Issues
- Graphics anomalies:
- All machines
- Built-in iSight camera:
- All machines, hit or miss
- Trackpad:
- MacBook5,2
- Major Issues
- AMD GPU acceleration:
- All machines with a Radeon HD 5xxx or 6xxx series GPUs (these systems will be almost unusable when running Mojave. More details are located in the Current Issues section above.)
- App Store Crashing:
- All machines with Radeon HD 4xxx series GPUs
- AMD GPU support:
- MacPro3,1
- Unsupported WiFi modules:
- All machines with Broadcom BCM4321 WiFi modules
To install on your machine, you can download and run the macOS Mojave Patcher application, which will let you download a copy of the latest installer app from Apple and create a bootable installer drive for use on unsupported Macs. It contains all the patches necessary to achieve the hardware support listed above. The installation guide can be found here and an installation guide video here.
APFS ROM Patcher:
Warning: This tool could irreversibly brick your EFI chip. Please exercise caution with machines that have multiple EEPROM definitions. Relevant information can be found here and here. The APFS ROM patcher can be found here. Use the password apfs to decrypt the ZIP.

I have the same issue with. MacBook Pro 5,5FYI: I did run into one problem yesterday with my MacBook5,1 (currently running 10.14.1): I inserted a recent DVD into the built-in optical drive, but it wouldn't play. It did recognize the disc as a DVD, and auto-launched the DVD player app, but it didn't start auto-playing the DVD main menu as it usually would, and it didn't respond when I clicked the Play and Menu buttons. I didn't try playing a DVD when I was running the patched version of 10.14.0, so I don't know if this is a new or existing bug. But I did try playing the DVD on an officially supported Mac running Mojave and it worked fine.
Do you have any idea why DVDs might not respond/play under patched versions of Mojave, @dosdude1 ?

Is there any way I can install Mojave by putting in some command in the terminal for my 2011 MBP, rather than using the Mac OS Mojave Patcher tool?
Thank you. I had tried to re-install all of the patches but it seemed stuck on Legacy Video patch and wouldn't complete. i will give it another shot and let you know.
Hello everyone owners of Macbook7,1 (and I guess of any C2D Penryn Mac) with Mojave beta 4, I do have a weird issue, everything is working, except into System Preferences when I try to open some elements I got this message:
Preferences Error
"You can’t open File.prefpane because it doesn’t work on an Intel-based Mac."
Where File.prefpane is any of: Keyboard/Mouse/Trackpad
I have tried replacing them from a previous HS version but it doesn't worked, I mean they have the same behavior.
edit:
Another weird thing is when using "dark mode", opening System Preferences, the "Users & groups" and "Accessibility" panes after opened (they only) turn back in a "light mode" window, while overall is still in dark mode.
edit2:
It occurs even on a supported Mac booting from the same Mojave beta 4 external SSD, while instead booting from internal SSD Mojave beta 2 it doesn't occur.
Maybe since those are all usb input devices it's something related to the manual IOUSB*** kext patching or to Mojave beta 4? Hoping is beta 4 general issue.
i just had this same thing happen to me. only on 10,13 i posted about it on that thread the only fix i seen was to do some thing i dont know what. to get it all to work with the catch of no more night shift. that workaround don't work for me as it was working 100% tell i discovered it today.
whats not working
keyboard, trackpad, and mouse preference panes. they all now apparently don't work on Intel macs. just to test any one know if there is a way to remove the nightshift patch ?
I cannot boot after successful update installation on iMac 10,1.
Hi,
using the patcher, I had the Mojave 10.14.1 installed on my iMac 10,1 and everything worked brilliantly. After a thoughtless update to 10.14.2. I could not boot any more and was forced to reinstall the system. Doing so, I proceeded exactly as advised on dosdudes's page, using a 10.14.2 installer. I can install and post-install, but after reboot I constantly get the no-go sign, even after clearing caches.
Please help me to track what went wrong
Make sure it is a USB Thumb drive or SD card. For some reason my Macmini 3,1 would not allow me to boot off a patched HD or SSD.I am trying to get my macmini3,1 to boot from a patched usb drive and it’s got the apple logo and the loadin* bar is blank and doesn’t move.
It worked when I did it for High Sierra.
Tried resetting with power plug pulled for 15 seconds and then power for 5 seconds and then turn on. Command option + p&r.
The patched Mojave’s boots on my 2008 unibody MacBook.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Those kexts actually are installed by default on that model already, so as long as the Legacy Video Card patch is selected, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 kexts will be installed.@dosdude1 The iMac 12,1/12,2 Needs the Intel Sandybridge HD3000 kexts installed in Mojave for the Machine to wake from sleep. Of course we have swapped the AMD card out for a Kepler Nvidia card for acceleration. So can you please modify your patcher to install the "intelsandybridgegraphics" as standard.
I spent hours trying to figure out why one iMac would wake from sleep but the other wouldn't. The working one had an SSD from a 2011 MBP so the HD3000 kexts were installed. Removing the HD3000 kexts would result in the iMac not waking from sleep.
I just did that option, It leaves me with no acceleration after selecting legacy Video patch. The issue is from the patched IOAcceleratorFamily2 kext also being installed. Then after correcting that, the Nvidia Tesla kexts cause transparency issues on our supported Kelper cards. So on the MXM thread we have been telling everyone not to select the legacy video card patch. I attached an image of the transparency issues. Those kexts actually are installed by default on that model already, so as long as the Legacy Video Card patch is selected, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 kexts will be installed.
Apple iMac "Core i5" 2.7 27-Inch (Mid-2011) iMac 12,2
Installed Mojave b2 using USB Dosdude1's patcher
Rebooted to USB Patcher, Ran patches iMac 12,2
Rebooted:
Boots to Gray Apple Logo, light gray screen, progress bar gets about 2/3's of the way through and the machine reboots. It then reboots a second time with a double chime. It's like a full chime with a half chime right afterwards.
Will try again later with verbose output.
This is from memory (last night).
I am guessing its an issue with the AMD Video Card. I have not tried anything outside the patcher. Tried to run it like it is for a good test.
I would like to thank dosdude1 again for his hard work and dedication (and anyone else associated with this project). I will be sending a donation to dosdude1 after my next eBay sale. I used to write donation ware about ten years ago and will be paying it forward. Your HS patches are solid.
Have you tried using old kext from High SierraI just did that option, It leaves me with no acceleration after selecting legacy Video patch. I got it working on the same iMac yesterday but I don’t instal on mane drive I installed on external drive just to test Mojave on it It works but the colors will be off color I used amd kext and used kext installer for it and colors appeared normal but it doesn’t have fully Acceleration Trying to figure out if there is away to take files from the high Sierra to make the graphics work Next test for me is to reinstall and see what happens if I put graphics folder from High Sierra in to Mojave

What kind of success have you observed when upgrading a late 2011 13 inch MBP with a SSD and 16Gb of RAM, with i5 processor. Are there any issues I need to be aware of before upgrading?
Hi all,
my Mac Pro 3.1 (with Mojave 10.14.2), have a sleep issue.
When it goes to sleep, after some hours I'm unable to wake it up when I click the mouse or the keyboard.
I can only force the power off and then power on again.
With the first 10.14 release, it does not have sleep issues.
The Mac Pro 3.1 has a GTX 680 2GB, three hard disk and an external UPS.
Exist a fix for this problem?
Thanks
@dosdude1
Upgraded to Mojave finally on my 4,1 17" MBP from HighSierra.
Thanks a lot to all the people here making it possible.
I'm impressed how smooth it went.
I just had to remind to install the legacy WiFi patch from the usb installer manually as I already exchanged the WiFi card from an 2009(?) iMac.
After that I got my WiFi back.
Now I'm trying to find a way to watch Netflix and another Silverlight based streaming service on Mojave.
So far no luck.
What are my options ?
