Patch Updater launched itself about 20 minutes ago, and displayed the latest patches for Siri and iSight, so I installed them (Mid 2009 Macbook 5,2). Siri now works fine (thank you!), but my iSight camera still doesn't work (Photo Booth doesn't see it), but from what I understand, it may not be possible to get the iSight camera on this model to work.
I have an macbook 5,1 2009 and my iSight camera hadn’t worked since Sierra so I know how you feel but happy you got you MacBook up and running

@dosdude1,

Just got a notice of a new patch from your patch updater --- Siri Patch. Haven't tried Siri (or actually do not use) on my mac devices. Just on my iPhone. But I will now. Many Thanks.

Now my own MacBook Pro Late 2011 won’t boot after I rebooted it. I’m not sure if it’s a bad SSD or what.

I’m on the same 2011 MBP and have the same problem - apparently I should’ve updated the patcher tool before updating macOS... now I’m stuck without a Mac to MAKE the patcher usb and don’t know what to do! :-( maybe just reinstall the earlier version of Mojave from my bootable USB??

EDIT: Followed advice from @dosdude1 (by way of @AlexyFoxy) a few posts ago and now amazingly/thankfully I'm back in business. Thanks for the great help/service, community! :)

While I was looking online to see if there's a simple way to tell if graphics acceleration is running, I found a utility on the App Store named "OpenGL Extensions Viewer" that looks interesting--lots of info on your Mac's video hardware and software. I don't know how to interpret most of it though, but some people might find it useful in troubleshooting video issues for patching unsupported Macs.

I thought my Macbook5,2 iSight camera was working in 10.13.6 (installed with dosdude1's High Sierra Patcher), but I can't be sure since I rarely use it. Maybe the last time I actually checked was when I was running El Capitan, but I could swear iSight was working at least with Sierra/10.12 on my Macbook, installed using dosdude1's Sierra Patcher. It's not a real loss for me anyway.

After update 10.14 => 10.14.4 Telegram Desktop started looking like this (screenshot attached) both for dark and light theme.

No changes were made to the app after update, and it had all controls visible on 10.14. What could cause this issue? And is there a way to fix it?
Telegram (not Telegram Desktop) from App Store still works fine on 10.14.4, but I'd rather use Telegram Desktop.

I have a MacBook 5,2. and this affects me too. I've tried to completely remove Telegram and reinstall everything, starting from scratch, etc. Nothing is working. Any thoughts?

I update my MacPro 3,1 from 10.14.3 to 10.14.4 yesterday without a hitch. I used the Software Update Pref panel who find the update (I am on APFS) and I apply after Dosdude's post install patch with force rebuild
boot and all is perfect now. Fast update and many thanks to Dosdude...our master !!!!!!!

MacBookPro5,1 on 10.14.4 - after installing patches for Siri and iSight from Patch Updater, Siri opens but will not listen / respond, and iSight camera still not found. Mic working fine in Sound pref pane.
Not a big deal as I rarely use either ;)

Cheers :)

Can you please supply that prelinkedkernel for me? I could build it but this would save me a step.

EDIT: I went ahead and did this myself. I got it to boot following your steps above, then had to install parrotgeek's wifi fix, which built yet another prelinked kernel. Wifi now works. The machine still silently panics upon reboot, but everything seems to work ok.
I have this panic-on-reboot also, it started somewhere between beta3 and beta6 or during some of the kext mods in between. Perhaps we can sort it out - I´ll have a closer look at the console outputs that timestamp near shutdown.

There were two hints here (originally from @ford.tonthat) a couple of pages earlier about restarting core audio for getting a non-deaf Siri.
Try that, seems to help in many cases.

Hi,
I've just updated a Macbook5,1 (2008 unibody Macbook) from 10.14.2 to 10.4.4. using an external drive created using the latest Mojave Patch Tool and the 10.4.4. download (the download was done using the Patch Tool). Now the Macbook5,1 won't sleep and the keyboard backlight doesn't work. I've tried reseting the SMC and PRAM and re-installing all the patches. According to Activity Monitor, no process is preventing sleep, and "pmset -g assertions" lists all assertion statuses as 0 except for UserIsActive. It lists IdleSleepPreventers=IODisplayWranger and System Sleep Preventers=.Display_boot.

Any ideas how to fix the keyboard backlight problem and the lack of sleeping? All help appreciated...

Thank you.

That´s actually the same patch you said earlier you do not need because Siri worked without it on your machine (back when I posted the first script based version).
Confused? ;-)

Meanwhile I found that without OpenGL Siri shows the sound wave while listening, but when OpenGL is up and running - nothing, only the animated circle (which is actually a movie payback, not realtime rendered!) when the answer has been generated.
So it seems that the "wave graphics" needs portions of iOS Framework now, just like the maps app.
(Or Metal? Perhaps someone has more insight on this matter?)

I can't advise on fixing the sleep problem, but I had the backlight problem earlier today after updating my Mid 2009 Macbook (5,2) from 10.14.2 to 10.14.4, even though I reinstalled @dosdude1's patches three times--once using the patched installer again, and twice using the Patch Updater app. I finally got the brightness keys to work by following dosdude1's instructions to install the patch he posted in message 11156. I don't know why I had to do this separately from using his Mojave Patcher.

This random kernel panic (after 5-15 minutes using Mojave) people are having I suppose is due to the Wifi fix about the "IO80211Family.kext" and "corecapture*.kext" , try to delete or rename it to kext2 , and see renouncing for a while to the Wifi if the KP occurs again.

Those are two different stories:
- the KPs after a while on machines with (presumably) the Wifi fix
- the KP on MB4,1 during shutdown (just a nuisance, no real problem)

To check the reason why system KP during reboot/shutdown, apart the KP log, I guess the best way is to boot the system from the beginning in verbose mode (nvram boot-args="-no_compat_check -v"), then when using again "restart or shutdown" before KP, system will enter in verbose mode showing the latest operation before panic, but using an SSD is too fast, so better to take a little video to check there what's happening in those few seconds.

I mean in verbose mode from the boot, any system during restart and shutdown from GUI mode will enter in a verbose lines for few seconds, I guess it's there where to check.

Well, I have now been having multiple KPs on 10.14.4 as patched above, so now I've rolled back to 10.14.3 for the time being. Unfortunately I forgot to get the logs before restoring, but I wasn't getting a KP when using your Siri patch.
Incidentally, in this MacBookPro5,1 it appears that iSight doesn't work in 10.14.3 either ;)

Cheers :)

Updated to 10.14.4 on a Mac Pro 3.1 (APFS-enabled ROM) with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 without problems. This is simply great! :)

One question: Could somebody please tell me, which exact purpose the LegacyUSBInjector and USBOHCI Support Patches do have? Thanks in advance for enlightening information about this.

I ask, because I've finally found out that one of the both patches makes a Pioneer DJ controller unusable with this machine. If I install Mojave without applying these patches, the controller works as expected.

Also I have to remark that this Mac Pro so far doesn't show any issues without these patches.

The only usb kexts missing is usbinjectall that you asked me to remove. You can go into my patch files and look at all of them with -MB4 appended. Those are the MB4 specific kexts. The prelinkedkernel is always rebuilt and the telemetry is always removed. The only thing I can do is fix something that you tell me to fix. This isn’t clear enough and I can’t do any testing so I can’t anything at the moment.

This is a stupid question but it’s not clear to me. Did you run the patch command after installation?
Absolutely not a dumb question. I did not run any post-patch command - as it was not clear where/when/how to do this.
If it is one of the options in your script, it might be misleading ("Patch Update package" is not it, is it?).
So there is hope everything is fine and I just don´t get it ;-)

I find agree, 10.14.3 still wins the prize for the best stable Mojave on unsupported mac. I do have it on my main machine and I don't intend to move from there till probably 10.15.
Will test on other machines, cause a downgrade from a minor version is easily possible re-installing for example 10.14.3 over 10.14.4 , w/o losing personal datas.

I don't know, what's causing your problem but ...

In the past I sometimes had this error when preparing an SD card on a Mojave supported Mac or when using a Mojave image downloaded on a supported Mac via Mac App Store.

Since this experience I always download the latest version of Mojave with the patcher tool and prepare the SD card on an unsupported Mac. This way it always works reliably.
