@dosdude1

Just an FYI.

Not sure why, but it seems like either .3 or .4 CoreDisplay can OpenGL accelerate .5b2.

I've tested and verified twice (@ASentientBot can confirm)

I've added .4 CoreGraphics to the mix and it is also supported, but I'm not sure what the value add is right now.

BTW a .4 set (CoreDisplay,OpenGL and GPUSupport) will still break - kind of expected that but just took another stab at it.

That's all for now.

Moreover if he adds simply .4 CoreDisplay.framework on his current 1.3.0 Mojave Patcher to "Video Patch" it doesn't affect nothing bad on 10.14.4 and it becomes ready also to fix directly every eventual 10.14.5 beta update.

I replaced the coreDisplay then applied the post install patches this what I have for 10.14.5 no graphics acceleration and backlight

Yes, that's the way I tested: updated the legacyGPUPatch.sh to copy the framework along side OpenGL and GPUSupport - so compatible with the post-install workflow.

My MacBook Pro 5,2 is a dual-graphic card iteration of the model you have (?) Both, sleep function and brightness control, work without issues on my machine.

Although I am not sure it makes any difference, in reference to your Mac’s issues, I run my machine on the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT 512 MB card. While I did notice some problems, as have others, when running under Nvidia’s 9400M 258 MB card, I don’t believe those [problems] were related to either screen brightness control, or sleep function.

I would suggest a re-installation of the system, using the last full installer you used to make a USB stick. The issues you have my be related to "other" system components.

The system re-installation, using Dosdude1’s patcher, can be done without erasing the drive, and there should be no data loss. However, do back up data you can’t afford to lose, before affecting the system; nothing is 100% data-loss proof.

Once system had been reinstalled, check that everything works as expected, i.e. screen control works, and sleep function returned.

If all is well, reapply the 14.4.5 b2 update, as described in above posts, and recheck for screen-brightness-control and sleep functionality.

Hope this information is of help.

What?
[doublepost=1555791547][/doublepost]I’m new to the Mac OS for modifying so you’ll have to be patient. This is my graphics card

A lot of things are going on here in this thread so a reply isn’t necessarily the one you’re waiting for.
What version of Mojave did you install? I assume 10.14.4? Try to get a 10.14.3 installer and install it on top of your current installation. This should work without losing any of your personal data.
Please backup anyways, just in case.
10.14.3 seems more stable at the moment.

**EDIT:** I got back to a functional Mac by doing the 'rm' command from a few (hundred!) posts back; now replacing the .framework, rebuilding an up-to-date Mojave USB boot disk with dosdude's patcher and will try re-applying patches

image.jpg
The loaded kext appear correct, so before going back to HighSierra (I guess better wipe and install), just do this other last attempt following this route:

- Download this CoreDisplay.framework.zip and keep it in your Downloads folder
- Using the dosdude1 Mojave Patcher version 1.3.0 , prepare a Mojave USB Installer
- from your current Mojave update OTA to 10.14.5 beta2
- After OTA you can almost surely reach desktop without any patches, and from there replace the Downloaded "CoreDisplay.framework" into your /System/Library/Frameworks/
- Reboot into dosdude1's Mojave Post Install and apply patches for your machine with "Force cache rebuild" checked.

At next reboot you should have OpenGL acceleration

I made it as far as installing 10.14.5 b2 via OTA but when I came back the computer wouldn’t boot anymore, just got to the Apple logo with the spinning progress indicator frozen, exactly what happened the last time I tried updating MacOS without first updating @dosdude1’s Patcher... :-/

Also, annoyingly, whilst I left my Mac downloading the beta update it was also making the Mojave USB boot disk, as you suggested, and it looks like it rebooted to start the MacOS update before the boot disk had finished creating, so now I’m left without a bootable Mac OR a USB boot disk, and I have no other Mac with which to create a bootable USB disk....!

I'll try the 'rm' command to get back to a booting Mac and try again....

I'm sorry if this was asked, is there a fix with a guide for brightness not working on 9,1 24"iMac?
It's stuck on a value and if I change it doesn't dim up or down. Thanks in advance.
Running 10.14.4 installed with the latest tool available.

I’m hoping someone more knowledgeable can give me some advice.

I’ve got a late 2011 21.5 iMac. Will an Alienware 765M work with mojave? I know it’s a Kepler based gpu.

Thanks

Same thing, after you applied the post install patches for your machine, replace this CoreDisplay.framework.zip in your /System/Library/Frameworks/ and you should be able to use 10.14.5 .
[doublepost=1555666635][/doublepost]

Same route I suggested to others in this quoting post.

edit: CoreDisplay is an @ASentientBot fix credit.
Thanks

In the order of tasks I wrote clearly to prepare first a Mojave USB Installer and only after update OTA beta, anyway booting from CMD+S you can at 99% boot again to the GUI Mode, just type:

mount -uw /
cd /System/Library/Extensions/
rm -R AppleIntelHD3000GraphicsGLDriver.bundle
exit

a couple of reboot and you should be fine.

Wrong thread for this question. Your PC requires “hackintosh” methods to run macOS. Usually PC notebooks do not do well as hackintosh because too many parts lack a Mac equivalent (i.e. network cards usually are not compatible).

So I enrolled my MacBook5,1 in a Beta program and updated my system from 10.14.4 to 10.14.5 b2 (hey, it's free). After the OTA update I only applied plist/platform check patches(so I could probably have used the very early and basic Mojave patcher). After renaming GeForceTeslaGLDriver.bundle in a Single User mode I landed in a Desktop without graphic acceleration of course. I was very surprised at how snappy the system was even without graphic acceleration(as jackluke already noted previously). The only patches that appeared to be noticeably broken by the update is a legacy audio patch/Night Shift/Hybrid. Clamshell mode is alive and kicking although I am now questioning the practicality of it as Core 2 Duo machines do run pretty hot and it does not take long for the fans to kick in while watching YouTube(in a clamshell mode). When the MacBook lid is open on the other hand it runs much more cool and quiet.

Think you might of misread my post?

I said I’ve got a 2011 iMac, not a pc.

Replace the existing GPU, the gpu fits as it’s only slightly longer, already tried it for size when fitting an SSD, but the question was more is it Mojave compatible.

You could try, Kepler is supported on Mojave, in worst case you won't have a bootscreen, but after 2-3 minutes of delay in black screen you should land to desktop or to the OSX GUI Installer.

You should reach without efforts the GUI mode at least with basic GPU kext, and you can try the "Nvidia Web Driver" for macOS if your GPU isn't detected OOB.

Just an advise when you "patch" your Mojave don't use the Post-Install "Video Patch".
Your GPU should work OOB without any additional Nvidia kext or patches.

Without bootscreen there are many ways to allow booting: examples

And if do other searches there are also other ways.

I guess because most notebooks do not have removable GPU... my wrong assumption. It is still the wrong question for this already crowded thread. My best guess is yeah, the GPU would work with some effort. Would need to find a kext for it.

I'm trying to apply the APFS ROM patch to an iMac 9,1 (2009 24"). This iMac doesn't appear to have an external power LED (thanks Apple), so one cannot watch for the rapid flashing to indicate you've reached firmware programming mode.

I got the idea to use the diagnostic LEDs on the logic board. In particular, LED #2 sounds like the missing external power LED.

If you place the iMac face-down in a dark room, you can see the glow from LED #1 through the bottom breather holes. Right beside the right speaker (picture-left, as the iMac is face-down). Below the row of ports.

s6lzSOz.jpg

So I tried holding the power button, and watched for rapid flashing. No dice. This iMac takes ~12 seconds to reach the boot chime when holding the power button continuously (will vary depending on installed RAM) and I didn't see any rapid flashing.

Once it does chime, the glow gets brighter as more LEDs kick in. But even holding the power button all the way to the Desktop never reaches anything but a normal boot. Confirmed by checking Sys Info -> Software -> Boot Mode.

So I'm out of bright ideas. Does anyone know the trick to flashing this iMac? From reading this thread, TimothyR734 is the only one who's succeeded, and he used an earlier version of the APFS flash tool.

I don't own one of these computers, so take with a grain of salt -- but a quick Google search suggests that you should try an SMC reset (unplug and hold down the power button for 60 seconds) just before plugging it back in and trying to enter the firmware update mode. There are several other threads on this forum from people who had similar issues and that helped.

Hope that helps while you wait for more knowledgeable people to reply.

sorry for my noobish question, so Ive been following this thread for quite a while, and I managed to install Mojave since the day it was released thanks to dosdude's patcher. currently im on 10.14.4 and i dont like it in its current state (multiple app crashes, terrible OpenGL, etc) id like to make a clean installation of the latest DP which is 10.14.5 DP2, ive been trying to make a list of steps to take (as in what files to replace and other stuff) to achieve full acceleration with the least possible issues, but im kinda lost cuz of how huge this thread is and so many suggestions ppl put here to replace files/frameworks and whatnot.

My machine is iMac 11,2 (mid 2010) and Id like some help with what steps to take and what files to replace to make 10.14.5 DP2 work flawlessly (all screensavers work, siri works, correct OpenGL implementation, etc)

id really appreciate your help

(i Know this is pretty early, and dosdude might implement those suggestions/steps in later versions of his patcher, but id like to experiment lol, also id like to put reverting to 10.14.3 as a last resort if all else fails, since 14.3 is the last stable one so far)

Thanks
