Urrgggggh... I'm running 1.3.2.

I did download Mojave from the Mac App Store originally on this iMac, but after that generated the same error, I tried the macOS Mojave Patcher route. I'll go get 1.3.3 and try again.

I'm not even close to booting my MacBook 4,1, so I've not disabled SIP on that yet. Haven't even turned it on, it's not part of the equation.

Any other ideas?

I've had another look at post #16223. The quoted code misses out the first line:

Code:
chmod +x /Users/aaron/Dev/Mojave/release-10.14/macOS\ Patcher.sh

I assume the file simply wouldn't run if it didn't have this permission but I've just downloaded a new copy of v2.3 of Julian Fairfax's patcher on an unsupported Mac (Mac mini 3,1) running High Sierra for testing. I've tried to create a new installer missing out the above line and the shell file runs to completion without error. At this point, I can only assume that there is something wrong with either your downloads or the disk that you are using. Given that the code shows that "Restoring Installer Disk Image" completed, I would assume that the Mojave file is ok and that you need to try a new drive.

*EDIT*

I've tried the above process with a drive that I know is too small for the installation files. This fails at the 'Patching graphics driver' section having successfully completed the following:

+Restored installer disk image.
+ Renamed installer volume.
+ Copied installer packages.
+ Copied installer disk images.
+ Unmounted installer disk images.
+ Replacing installer utilities menu.
+ Patched installer app.
+ Patched installer framework.
+ Patched system migration frameworks.
> Patching graphics driver.

The installer tells me that there isn't enough space to copy the files. So far, even having a drive that is correctly formatted but completely full doesn't introduce errors starting at 'Copying installer packages'. As I can't reproduce your error, I'm afraid I can't help you solve it. All I can deduce is that the patcher doesn't have write access to your installer drive, sorry.

Anyone running mojave in MacBook Pro mid2009 5,3? If so, whats the most stable version?

Hi
On all unsupported machines it is 10.14.3 the most stable version. Version 10.14.4 is a "disaster" to avoid so ...
Personally my MBP5.3 is under 10.14.5 and works fine and every day. I'm using the Hybrid-18E226-v1.4.3 patch for transparency because I find it like the transparency of Macs supporting Mojave natively.
(in addition I only replaced CoreUI to keep the transparency of the bar menus and menus in dark mode because if replacing CoreUI and HIToolbox the transparency of the bar menu and drop-down menus disappears).

hi, I got a mid 2010 MacBook Pro with i5 processor.
I noticed that under Mojave the trackpad is sluggish when your finger is on the middle of it.
Also, during the initial configuration, I can't reach the end because it stucks on the account creation. After about 2 minutes I read a message that tell me it can't continue the account config, then I can't press any button, so I have to power off and during the next boot I have to config all manually.
Any solution for those issues?

Hello JoSch,

Thank you for replying !
  1. I have a ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT installed (The base card for the model).
  2. I download dosdude1 version: 1.3.3
  3. Download the Mojave OS image from the patcher option
  4. Format USB stick
  5. Use dosdude1 patcher to reformat the USB with the Mojave OS
  6. Reboot and load the USB
  7. I am formatting a HDD partition because I don't have a second physical driver at the moment (Tried both MacOS Extended and APFS.
  8. Install Mojave following the steps into the partition
  9. Reboot and load USB again
  10. Open the post-install tool and select the options for Mac Pro 3.1. (Predefined list)
  11. When rebooting I am stuck at around 70%. I was waiting more than an hour but there is no progress so I can only assume something is wrong...
  12. I also have tried to clear to "Force Cache Rebuild" but without success.

I want to show you an image but the editor does not allow me to display it for some reason...
Either way, it is just Apple logo one display white background and a stuck 70% bar with .

I am thinking some solutions at this point.

  1. Using an older dosdude1 patcher for high sierra or
  2. Do it all over again, although I highly doubt that there will be any difference.
  3. Maybe I need a separate hard drive ?
Thank a lot for your support !!
You should be able to install Mojave on a partition. It is unlikely that your Mac Pro has the APFS ROM (from dosdude1) so format in HFS+ for now - lets get it working first.
You seem to have done most of the steps correctly, however because of you graphics card you will have to select the legacy video patch as well. So boot back into the installer USB and open the post install utility and select mp3.1 but also tick the legacy video patch. Force cache rebuild and try again.

On my 3,1, I had no problems with APFS. Dosdude's installer installs a APFS EFI module, where it can jump off.

This is true but too keep things simple for now it may be best for sgouver to just get it up and running and then go APFS once the Mac is running Mojave properly. Only has one drive (HD?) at the moment and is using a partition for Mojave.

Is it possible to remove the SIP disable patch? I can't enable SIP via Terminal from recovery (the patch just disables it again).

I actually tried running Mojave with SIP enabled on my MacBook5,1. It resulted in an instant loss of acceleration but apart from that most things seemed to work fine, although I used it only for a minute as it's pointless without acceleration. It might be a good solution for somebody who insists on using Mojave without acceleration. If I remember correctly there was at least one person in this thread.

maybe try this switch to regular updates then switch back to the beta update

The "1" seems to be compulsory if you want to be on the Beta update channel. The only way to get rid of it is to leave the Beta channel altogether. Apple makes it a point to remind you that Mojave is the past and Catalina is the future.

@TimothyR734 Any chance you can upload those IOUSBFamily.kext and IOUSBHostFamily.kext from the 10.14.6 Beta 3?

I recommend an 8GB flash drive minimum to avoid size issues.

boot off you Mojave Patcher find the terminal enter in the terminal csrutil disable
Hello TimothyR734,

  • I disabled SIP but no luck, still is getting stuck on boot (about 70%). I checked 2-3 time and verified with csrutil status.
  • I also re-downloaded and re-installed Mojave OS (I always check to be GUID when formatted both USB and Hard Drives)
  • I also forced cache rebuild and re-installed the post patcher again and again...
At this point I am thinking if I should buy a separate Hard Drive or try my luck with high Sierra.
This is a very sad situation...I really like this Mac Pro.

Also, do you think that maybe I should leave it on the loading status for some hours ? Is there any possibility for staff to getting installed on the background ?

If you have any other suggestion, it will be more than welcome.

Thanks a lot !

No, I wasn‘t insisting on unaccelerated GPUs. Actually, I‘m trying to get the RX480 running. I was just insisting, that the speed wasn‘t exactly slow. I was very surprised about that, too, because I have seen slow OSX animations.
The HD5770 has other problems, but not speed.

Just to be clear on that: Did you patch the correct volume?

Hello JoSch,

Thank you for the reply.
Yes, I have. If I do not patch it then no Apple logo appear at all. Also when I was trying with APFS format, I was able to see the script of Dosdude while loading. I also make sure always to have Mac Pro 3.1. option selected.

Thanks a lot.
